This is probably my favorite shop in Le Claire! It is located in an older home on the corner. Just the house alone is fun to look at(from the inside and out). Outside is full of lawn ornaments, and when we went they had a bunny you could pet(I’m a sucker for cute animals). Inside has some adorable gifts(perfect for the gardener), but the best part is the wine cellar in the basement! They have some local, an not so local wines to choose from. Definitely a must-stop if you come to Le Claire.

This historical house in LeClaire, Iowa was built in 1870 and was the home of River Captain McCaffrey. The house alone is amazing, including the wine cellar in the basement which has 2 foot walls! All the other rooms are full of interesting gifts and antiques. The house overlooks the Mississippi River and the Buffalo Bill’s Museum.

So much to explore! Loved the cellar that had a lot of wines, with a few out for tasting. A couple local wines among them but some anyone could find at your local Target. But the house is beautiful and the staff was super nice. Out of all the shops I stopped in Le Claire, this was one of my favorites.

I really loved this place. However, I do want to point out that this same place is responsible for the scary chicken that now graces the hearth of my fireplace… WHEREDIDTHISSCARYCHICKENCOMEFROM!!! Ok. so I do take full blame for the chicken. My family and I visited this shop together, and I fell in love with the whimsical lawn ornaments they had… an eggbeater turned into a bug? Oh No… I love it. A random plate and some random iron… A flamingo with a plate for my yard? OHYES. But on a serious note, the contents inside this antique shop are just FUN. Some fun stuff, some antiquey stuff… and a myriad of fun to browse amongst… I love this shop… and my family knows it… which is why I get fun garden decorations AND a hearth chicken on any random occasion. Shop here. LOVE it… and be sure to tell those you love that while the contents are cool, you do NOT need a hearth chicken. :-P Oooh. And do venture into the basement. A fun wine selection awaits.
