Bad food, terrible service, and one jerk of a bartender. If you enjoy being treated badly go to docs

Good service. Limited menu(not many options from the smoker when we were there) but what we got was ok! Loved the atmosphere and the beer!

Loved it. They got a smoker 3 weeks ago and are now cranking out delicious food. Fresh bbq straight out of the smoker upon arrival.

Great little place! I don’t understand all the low reviews. We stopped in for a late lunch. Sat inside by a window. Ordered pulled pork sandwich with chips. SO good! Service was great too.

I don’t know what the haters are complaining about. The service was great, the staff was very friendly. The cocktails were very very good. Coco, behind the bar, sent us up Fifth Avenue the next morning for a great view of the town and some excellent photos of old mining sites. We came after dinner, so no food for us, but everything else was great.

Disappointing meal. Food was totally forgettable. Don’t eat here. There are plenty of other good choices in this town. We ate ceviche tacos and the cured salmon salad. Both forgettable. Waitress service was slow and she forgot what we had ordered and after 10 minutes came back to «confirm» our order. Skip this place.

While we enjoyed the wings and beer here, I agree with other posts that the prices are steep for what you get(I mean this is Leadville, not Aspen!). Our waitress was pretty good, but disappeared after our food arrived so waited quite a while for our check. I would stop here for a beer again if the weather is nice to enjoy their patio, but I’d choose to eat elsewhere.

Not a bad place as far as food goes. Got the buffalo meatball sub and it was pretty good. Got a salad and it was good too, leafs were crispy and cut well. Not sure if it was home made or from a bag but not bad either way. What was bad was the service. First off, indoor seating is basically non existent. So if you don’t get lucky, you lol be sitting out side. Waitress was nice but didn’t know anything about the menu. Asked her a few different questions about the food and she couldn’t answer any of them. We got our drinks 10 mins after ordering them and our food a good 30 mins later. Never got checked up on by the waitress until we were visibly done with our food. With better options around, we won’t be coming back here unless the reviews say the service has gotten better.

Just a few words, that’s all this place deserves… horrible customer service from everyone from the hostess to our AWOL waitress and the bartender. The food was OK at best, the only decent thing happening at Doc’s was the music.

Just ate here for the first time since Doc’s recreated its menu — wow — so impressed!!! Ceviche red snapper tacos were better than any fresh fish tacos I’ve ever had — anywhere. And I used to live on the west coast. The side cole slaw was amazing as well — fresh, not heavy, and with a tang of spicy mustard. Definitely coming back a lot if they keep this up!

I really wanted to like Doc’s. Great indoor and outdoor areas. They had the fire pit going, which added to that rustic mountain town feel, but got a little ashy at times. Happy Hour has some good deals. I got a moonshine mule and if we had just stopped there, it’d be a better review, but then we ordered food. They were out of salsa, bison, guacamole just to name a few things and service, although friendly, seemed thin. If they can figure out their ordering, I’d try it again.

The good: Food was good(ordered the mac & cheese) Nice atmosphere The bad: The customer service… my wife and I came in for lunch fairly early on a Monday while visiting Colorado. We were the only customers in the place but the service was slow and our waitress was rather inattentive with a bit of an attitude. Best I could tell she went from nice and friendly to kind of pissed off once we ordered and told her we would be sharing an entrée and just drinking water. We decided to do this for two reasons: one, they didn’t have a lunch menu(that I saw) and we didn’t need large portions of food, and two, because we were heading out to do some hiking that afternoon(hence the water, in order to be hydrated). Typically in these kind of situations I leave a larger tip percentage wise because I understand that my bill would be lower than normal, however in this case I decided not to since it didn’t seemed deserved. Side note, definitely not a place for large groups!

Terrible service and the food was worse. Came in for lunch at about noon. Menue was very limited. Nothing looked good but my daughter and wife were hungry and just wanted to eat. We ordered our food and my daughter ordered a Shirley temple. That alone took about 20 minutes for her to get. I ended up ordering a vegitable wrap which sounded good and my wife got the Buffalo chicken wrap, and my daughter ordered the potatoes soup. 45 minutes went by and our waiter told us it’s almost up(which he has been telling us for the last 30 minutes) and that we are just waiting on the fries. They must have been growing the potatoes because it took about another 20 minutes after that. When we did finally recieve our food I had some tomatoe gargonzola soup which reminded me of my child hood because it tasted like chef boyrdee ravioli filing(that’s not a good thing). My wife’s food was cold and the wrap was just a chicken finger drenched in Buffalo sauce and lettuce. The fires were cold and limp; we guessed they were done 20 minutes prior to us receiving them. My wrap sounded better on paper but when I had it, it was bland and cold. I think they forgot to roast some of the vegitables. All and all spend your time and money else where.

Ran through Leadville on a mountain road trip. Stopped at Doc’s for lunch. The décor and set up is super cute. The outside area is awesome — would be an awesome place to drink a beer and sit in the summer. The food. Grossly overpriced. My $ 14 nachos… I could make at home. Chips, melted shredded cheese, and ground buffalo, with some corn and beans. It was nothing special. Husband had the pork belly. Again, small portion for the price. Pretty meh. The service was… cold? Not particularly welcoming or attentive. Acted like it was a big issue for me to get a Diet Coke. Slammed a glass of ice on the table and then came back with the can. Would not go back unless it was 75 degrees and I only wanted a beer.

I really wanted to like Doc’s but just kept getting strikes against it until finally it was out. Most seating is on patio but no propane for the heaters on a cold evening, so everyone was jammed in the bar. Only table for four inside was a 15″ wide awkward place to try and cram everyone’s plate and drinks on. They were out of the first drink, but had the second. They were out of the first and second items we tried to order from the limited option menu, so I went with a third choice — the fish tacos and regret doing so. Two on the plate and I felt ripped off paying $ 13 for something that looked and tasted like someone with no real kitchen experience was experimenting with by throwing a few things in a raw flower tortilla. There were very few cubed fish pieces, with some sliced into slivers lettuce, some cubed cucumber pieces, and some sliced pepper pieces. No sauce and they were dry dry dry. There wasn’t much of those few bits of food in the first place with overwhelming acid burn from the hot pepper slices with no other real taste. Between that and a beer, I was out $ 20 for an amateur attempt be be something worth selling. I suspect there’s not a trained chef or even professional cook in the kitchen. I left there feeling tricked out of my money. It’s a nice bar, but a lousy restaurant. Go for drinks and experience an up-to-date clean atmosphere which is the freshest and best lit bar in Leadville, but stay away from the food. So what’s the best gourmet burger in Leadville? Not Doc’s. But it should be. The atmosphere and location are exceptional with a good selection of Colorado beers and wines as well as the mixed drinks. Everything’s in place for Doc’s to set itself apart from just another bar by offering good food and an exceptional burger would fit the bill. Gourmet burgers are hot these days. Look at Smash Burger, Hopdaddy, Shake Shack, or in my area of Austin Pat Terry is doing a ton of business. Even In-N-Out is a decent burger and is doing a ton of business. Park Burger in Denver is amazing. As locally sourced as possible, as fresh as possible, as organic as possible. Don’t over-price it but make it very good juicy and well seasoned beef(Gordon Ramsay has a burger season recipe that’s delicious). Don’t think it’s not high brow enough to serve a gourmet burger but embrace what your customers have asked for and something that Leadville doesn’t have as of May 2015.

Typica small town restaurant, TINY! Came in with a party of 5 and our waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed at first. We had to rearrange the tables to accommodate us. Ordered lemon pepper wings and spinach artichoke dip for appetizers, both were really delicious. Meals were good… chicken and waffles, vegetable Mac and cheese, buffalo chicken wrap. Everyone was pretty pleased with the food. They don’t have a big wine selection, but they do serve moonshine and local distilleries. One of the better choices in Leadville.

It looks like a lot of people are hating on Doc’s. I gotta say, just because a few bad reviews brought down the average for this place, don’t let that fool you. This place is awesome. My guy and I were originally trying to go to Mountain Pies for pizza across the street, but it was Easter so when we got there it ended up being closed. Which is fine, the place looked really small, like it probably doesn’t have a liquor license(I don’t know for sure). Doc’s was awaiting us across the street. I think our servers name was Ian. he was extremely nice and helpful. He was clearly waiting on the entire restaurant but did an awesome job of attending to everyone effectively. We started with the Moonshines, I had the iced coffee one and my guy had the raspberry energy drink one. They were outstanding and just perfect for giving us that extra punch of energy we needed afer skiing. We started with the bison nachos, which were huge! They were $ 1 off during happy hour. After filling up from nachos I opted for just a cup of butternut squash soup, $ 4. My guy went for the chicken and waffles. I stole a couple bites, it was outstanding. We grabbed a couple 90 shillings to take to the patio and closed our tab. We then played a game of Giant Jenga and left happy. Highly recommend!

Came in, waited 5+ minutes for someone to drop off menus. Fine. But then we waited 15 more minutes for someone to come back and take our order. That never happened so we left. 15 minutes is WAY too long to keep people waiting without even checking in or dropping off water, especially given the size of this restaurant. 2 stars instead of one because the drink list was decent, the menu LOOKED good(not that we ever got to find out) and the outdoor seating area with the fire pit is awesome. Doubtful that this place will last…

Nice, friendly and fun atmosphere, but on the night we visited for quick drinks and appetizers both the food and the service were REALLY poor. As in over 10 minutes before anyone even took a drink order, over 15 minutes before they returned to take an appetizer order, and almost 20 more minutes before the apps arrived, even though we informed them of an engagement we had to leave for. The place was only half full, so it wasn’t like they were getting slammed. The apps we had included a pretzel and brats dish we were excited about. What we got were soggy pretzel bites on skewers with a few bites of the worst beer-soaked hot dogs I’ve had in a while. Definitely not what anyone would call a bratwurst. Other apps were the low side of mediocre. Ok place to go if you have a group that has time and wants to sit and talk over drinks and isn’t expecting great food or service.

I’m in love with the thoughtful interior design and drink menu featuring local distilleries, breweries and wineries. Give them a try, as they just opened Friday!
