My second dining experience here he was much more pleasant. I wouldn’t say the waiter was super nice but he was nice enough. Everything you would expect from hospitality services. The food was much better this time around not that it was bad last time, but it is better. Will be returning. Glad I came back.

Unilocal led us to this place, yes, I say that a lot… technically I «write» that a lot, the vast majority of the food and service was exemplary. The only thing we had that was average was the seafood gumbo, not a lot of seafood… mostly rice and okra. But the fried shrimp lunch special with fries and hush puppies was 5 stars, better than C R Surf n Turf and Deckhands, and that’s saying a bunch ’cause they do these very very well. My blackened chicken salad was tasty, could have a tad more heat/blackening to it, and maybe a little coarser cut than diced on the chicken. We will definitely return for more of this delicious food. Our server Brittney mentioned that today was her first day on the job after training. Two thumbs up to Brittney for friendly and great service.

We were scouting around for a new fish place one night. I saw Cherry Creek Catfish listed on Unilocal, and so we headed over. Everyone who worked there was super friendly, and it reminded me of how Texas was before the rest of the nation moved in. Our waiter looked like Lou Diamonds Phillips and was extremely polite and fun. Bonus! We each started with some shrimp and crawfish gumbo, Then, we got a massive sample platter that had ribs, Gulf shrimp, catfish, cole slaw(I got pinto beans, instead), green beans, sweet potato fries, and hush puppies.(Yes, I took home a LOT of this!) To make this easy, I will just tell you what I thought of each item. Gumbo: Dark roux, lots of tiny shrimp and crawfish tails, overall pretty good. Ribs: Good. My husband LOVED them. Gulf shrimp: Excellent, not too much batter and not overcooked. Catfish: Nice portions and flavorful. Pinto beans: Very interesting and tasty, had some flavor I can’t pinpoint. Green beans: Great, country style beans with bacon and onion. Sweet potato fries: Very good, but they need honey mustard on the side. Hush puppies: The jalapeño hush puppies were good, just standard for around here. Don’t forget that they have jalapeño tartar sauce! Enjoy!

Not bad. We had fried tomatoes, pretty good. We had catfish it was good. It didn’t knock out socks off but it was a good. My husband is still partial to catfish parlor, maybe it’s the hush puppies. Great place for Leander, eat local.

I really enjoyed Cherry Creek Catfish and am very happy to have another seafood restaurant close by. Our waitress was very attentive, and the table was kept clean and refills offered frequently on our drinks. The shrimp I ordered were fantastic as were the beans and fried okra. The coleslaw was a tad sweet for my liking, but that is just a personal preference. There were multiple kinds of hot sauce on the table if you like a little variety. The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was the gumbo. It was tomato based and the okra that was in it was very tough and stringy. If it was listed as a creole on the menu it would be more appropriate. All in all, I was very happy with the meal, and I will most definitely be going back!

We love this place! Awesome location in Leander. Staff is always super friendly and willing to accommodate your needs or recommend a good item to try. The restaurant is quite large and there is plenty of seating. We were told they are getting ready to open a patio that will seat another 150! Love the classic county that is always playing, too. It’s just a casual, feel good, «Texas» place to eat! Food? Oh yeah! The food is awesome. I don’t think you can make a bad choice. The crawfish basket is my favorite, closely followed by the catfish. Always perfect and plenty of food! There is talk of possible delivery in the near future. Now all they need is a dance floor!

Sadly this place is a miss. I ordered food to-go and I was so disappointed. The onion rings which were an up charge since the plate came with fries, were SOSALTY. I only had one, no joke and I usually love me some onion rings. I think it was in the batter because I didn’t see any salt on them. And the shrimp Po Boy was just meh. I’m from Louisiana and I know how it’s done and that wasn’t it. it was just lacking, the bread wasn’t great. The one positive thing I can say is the shrimp were very big and the to-go service was good.

Food still great but had to lower my rating to 4 stars, almost went down to 3, since they wouldn’t let us substitute grilled shrimp for fried on my daughter’s kid’s meal. Didn’t seem like that big of a deal but they seemed to think it was as major an issue as trying to land on Mars.

My family and I went for dinner at Cherry Creek on NYE. The food was really good, and portions were large enough that I had lunch for the following day — usually fried food doesn’t reheat well, this does. Service? It was OK. There were a couple of jokes made by our server that could have been skipped. Example: she arrived at our table(4 people) and puts down two sets of utensils with a little joke«I’m not sure where I got these, but here ya go». When she brought drink refills, she had mixed up what was in which cup. She had drinks for multiple tables. So instead of excusing herself to start over, she puts her face close to the drinks to attempt to smell the difference between our cokes and the other table’s iced tea. Gross. That’s where our review lost a couple of stars. Bottom line, we will return. But we will enjoy our drinks a little slower in the future.

A little expensive but the food is good! The gumbo was AWESOME!!! Nice and clean on the inside. Staff is very friendly as well. If you are wanting more than a beer then you’ll have to wait… No liquor license yet! Our waitress said they would be getting it soon though(hopefully).

First impression of this place was CLEAN and NEAT. And the wait staff was especially friendly and courteous. And the food was a big hit with the entire family. A whole lot of «fried» options but they prepared it all very well. Fried mushrooms, fried fish, fried shrimp… you get the idea. But they do a lot of other dishes as well but we came for the FRIED stuff. And they did no disappoint! It was prepared real well… just like you’d expect to find at a Port A joint but without the dirty, old, coast town building part. This place was immaculate. Lots of families in there while were were there. I’ve driven by a few times again since we ate there and the lot is always consistently full of cars. This place is making a mark in Leander.

Nice place, friendly staff, but… two of my four jumbo shrimp tasted like iodine. Come on, Cherry Creek. You have to brine those babies before you bread, batter or broil em’.

We finally made it over to the new Cherry Creek Catfish place and were pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was. It’s also nice for Leander to be getting more and more restaurants because we like to eat out here too, so thanks CCC for moving up North to us! Highlights: –The food is yummy. We tried the fried crawfish tails, New Orleans shrimp and catfish, the blackened catfish, and even plain grilled catfish. Everything had a ton of flavor and was cooked just right. Of this bunch, I would order any of these entrees again. The crawfish was super awesome though. YUM! –Good sized portions. Of our party of 5, 4 people had leftovers to bring home(and one person is a piggy, but I’m not naming names). –Very reasonable prices. Everything is priced very affordably and with the big servings, you really feel like your money goes far. –Good menu variety. Yes, it does lean to mostly fried foods, but they also have a many grilled options as well. They also have fish, shrimp, crawfish, chicken, steak, and even oysters, so there is something for everyone. –Very laid back and comfortable atmosphere. It’s not fancy at all, but it is cozy. Everything was clean and organized. –The staff is very friendly. Lows: –The service is a bit on the slow side. It wasn’t crazy busy when we were there, so I’m not sure why it took so long. Luckily the food came out hot, it just took a while. Overall, I like this place and will be back for sure!

The burgers here are fantastic! It’s good meat, and the bun they put it on sets it off. The sweet potato fries are good(if you get them fresh). Chocolate pie is heaven. Service was friendly, however, I went with a large group and when the food came out, everyone but me had their order. Since our server didn’t come back to check on us, someone in our group had to flag her down — after waiting almost 10 minutes. I ended up asking for it to-go, and by the time I got my food, most of the party had paid and left. It just kind of puts a damper on the dining experience when someones food is forgotten about — I’m hungry, everyone is overly worried about me & awkwardly wondering if they can go ahead and eat… But when I did finally get it, it was worth the wait! Our server was really friendly, just not the most attentive.

So my husband and i order some food to-go tonight. I have to say it was pretty good. I ordered the fish tacos and they were a little bland and so was the rice and beans. This review is about the Catfish Po-boy sandwich which was awesome. It was huge and my husband loved it. They gave like 3 – 4 pieces of catfish for his sandwich. So much that he took some off the sandwich and shared with me. It doesn’t come with cocktail sauce so if you like it like make sure to order some. The fries where fresh and hot. All in all it tasted good and I will try something else for dinner.

I am not a fan of writing bad reviews, especially when the servers and managers of an establishment are so sweet, but I have to be honest and say that I didn’t care for the food here in the slightest. My husband loves catfish so I agreed to come with him even though I don’t since I noticed they have shrimp and chicken on their menu which I do enjoy. The restaurant is very clean and spacious, not to mention a literal stones throw from our house making it extremely convenient. Both our drinks and food were out within about ten minutes so we didn’t wait long at all. They say you eat with your eyes first and my plate didn’t exactly leave me wanting to dig in. While the portion was gigantic, it definitely appeared to be more quantity over quality. I ordered the small shrimp dinner which comes with 4 jumbo shrimp, French fries, two hush puppies, coleslaw, and pinto beans. Shrimp-strongly fishy and not fresh. Made much better with cocktail sauce, however not something I would order again. French fries– straight from a freezer bag. I knew this because I could actually taste the essence of plastic from the bag on some of them. Skip these. Hush puppies– perfectly crisp with a kick of heat from the bits of jalapeño inside. The only true thing I enjoyed on my plate. Coleslaw– one bite was all I needed. Highly lacked seasoning and drowning in dressing. Pinto beans– needed more seasoning as well and didn’t really make sense to me being paired with a plate of seafood. My husband had their trio plate which comes with catfish, ribs, shrimp, fries, green beans, hush puppies, and coleslaw. He said it was okay but he didn’t like the batter. He’s used to the light cornmeal batter that leaves a mess on your plate afterwards, whereas the batter here is hard and forms a thick shell around each cut of fish. In my personal opinion, I would suggest they use more spices for flavor, fresher fish, and take the time to make their own fries which is actually more cost efficient than buying them frozen. Time consuming yes, but it would make a world of difference and lead to better business. I do wish them success in their future but sadly don’t see myself being a return customer unless serious changes are made.

Finally, a decent place to eat in Leander. The location is so bad. I really don’t like 2243. So many businesses popping up and the 2 lane road does not support the heavy traffic. I wish they would have found property some where else *sigh*. Overall the food is pretty good. I had a shrimp basket but added 2 oysters and 2 catfish so I could try a little of everything. I also asked for the jalapeño tarter sauce(available on request). All of it was very good. My hubby had some chicken dish battered in tortilla chips. The batter was really good and chicken was really juicy. It was missing something though like salsa or a sauce to help offset the dry of the batter. The pinto beans are absolutely amazing, seriously. They must use a smoked ham hock or something. The sweet tea isn’t overly sweet(you won’t be drinking a glass of sugar). The unsweetened tea is really refreshing. The Cons: I didn’t care for the cocktail sauce. It tasted more like ketchup(very very weak on the horseradish). My 14 year old kiddo would have been more critical. He thinks he’s an expert at cocktail sauce and makes ours at home. The other dinger… I cannot stand coated french fries. Why ruin a perfectly good potato with all that reddish freaky batter. It just doesn’t go with traditional seafood(in my opinion). The 3 section dinner plate and small forks. I get the idea and use for the plate, but it but doesn’t work well for adults. I don’t know if it was the plate or the smaller fork causing the eating issues, but after we were done eating you would have thought a toddler was sitting with us. We will definitely be back. I went without my son on the first trip. If he finds out I am in so much trouble!

Great service, awesome food, clean restaurant… What more could you ask for? Great prices! This location(other is Manchaca) just opened recently and I’m impressed! The waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was hot and fresh. I got the fried shrimp and my husband got the Cherry Creek Trio. Both were great. We will be back!
