Been meaning to try this place out for forever and today was the day, glad we did, best selection we’ve found of locally made jerky in the area. Bought a small bag of the garlic and another of the raspberry chipotle, both of which have good flavor and chew… chipotle has a slight spicyness. They have a wide range of spicy hot to mild jerky… I am a fan! The only slight critique I have is they should offer free samples, if i’d known how good they were, i’d’ve bought more. If you ever get near El Campo, Tx… go by Prasek’s and try their jerky, they do the sample thing and they sell a lot.

My husband and I popped in here after we had lunch at Farm to Fork. We figured why not, since we were right there. We were greeted by a nice guy behind the register who offered to answer any questions if we had them. We looked across the ample selection of different types of jerky — so many flavors! They also had beef and turkey. We ended up choosing a decent selection of different types of beef jerky, as well as the garlic turkey jerky. We tried it when we got home and this is fantastic jerky. We liked all of the flavors we picked up and have been steadily snacking on it since we picked it up. As another Unilocaler mentioned, it would be awesome to be able to get Mahlon’s at HEB! Anyways, we’ll definitely be back to grab some more, we really like their product. Thanks for being fantastic!

Yes, please!!! The smell is amazing, the jerky is amazing and the customer service was amazing. Will be returning. Guess it’s a good thing Hudson bend meat market is unreliable with their jerky making lately, otherwise I would have never found their replacement.

This place is locally owned and locally run, really can you ask for better. I was driving by this place, noticed the sign and stopped in. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I ended up spending $ 22 on «snacks». :). I’m typically not a fan of jerky… I stopped for the big man in my life. I’m glad I did. I can’t stop eating this stuff. If you are by there, stop in and at least get a taster bag, you won’t be disappointed. It’s pretty darn good.

This is the best jerky I have ever had! I do a lot of driving/traveing for business. When I am on the road I will stop into gas stations and try the local jerky as a snack for the drive. I have sampled many types of jerky. We just moved to Liberty Hill, TX and thought I would buy local so stopped into Mahlon’s to pick up a few flavors. Pricier than Jack Link’s, but much better texture, flavor so worth the cost. My daughter loves meat, but does not like Jack Link’s because it has too much grissel. But all you can get at the local HEB. My daughter loves this jerky as does my husband and son. We took 4 bags on our spring break trip and it barley made it to our destination! Mahlon’s has so many different flavors and thickness to choose. Keep up the good taste!

Okay. So I will be honest and say that I am not a jerky lover. In fact, what I like jerky for is to use as a stirring stick in my hot and spicy Texican Bloody Mary’s. And, yeah, with jalapeño-stuffed olives, seriously, what else would I use? But, for Mahlon’s, I am willing to make an exception and eat the stuff without coating it in spicy, alcohol-laced tomato juice. Thus far, Hubby(he’s the real jerky lover) has brought home Sweet n Heat(for me), PolkaDotHot, Black Pepper, Habanero, Whiskey, Jalapeño, and Teriyaki(again, for me). I have tried them all and actually liked them all. The guy knows how to make jerky! I only wish they would make some Buffalo jerky sticks so I could buy Mahlon’s to use in my Texican Bloody Mary’s.

This is by far the best jerky I have ever tasted and I have never seen any gristle in the 20 large bags we purchased. We go here on a regular basis and the people are really just honest, hard-working, friendly folks. By the way, it is dry, kind of what you would expect from dried meat. hmm.

This place is great! Very friendly, family operated business that remembers you as a customer every time. Great selection that is always getting larger and larger. Usually has sampling of new flavors available. Free samples are available and can buy jerky in 3 different sized bags. I come here every couple weeks and stock up. great snack to have around the house, car, or work. Definitely suggest giving it a try.

When I heard that this place was coming in, I had a hard time believing it. I mean… who opens a store that all they sell is beef jerky? I just didn’t think that the business model could work. I drive by this place at least once every day that I go to work. I can’t say that I have ever seen a line out the door, but I have seen some people going in and out at times. Well, they have now been open for a couple of months now and I finally stopped by to check things out. Yep… it is a store full of beef jerky. As soon as you walk in the smell of dried meat gets you. I know now that they dry it right in the building. Turns out… they do sell more than just jerky. They do also sell bottled drinks(need to wash down the meat) and t-shirts(with Mahlon’s likeness on it). On the wall they have about 6 – 7 flavors of jerky in different size packages. They have samples available of all the flavors. After trying a couple I picked the Tasty Teriyaki and Peppy Black Pepper. All of the ones that I tried had good flavor, but were kind of dry. When I said something the kid behind the counter, he said it was likely that they had been sitting out for a while. I tried one of the flavors when I got home and it was only marginally better with moisture content. Overall, I thought that the jerky had good flavor, but don’t know if it is really worth the extra stop. I also found out that they ship from this location to customers in Texas. I just can’t imagine all the sudden saying to the family«I have a hankerin for some jerky, lets go to Mahlon’s!». Good luck to them.
