Der Ritterhof Motor Inn

One star for heat and hot water, one for breakfast. A very LOUD beeping plow vehicle was outside the hotel from midnight to 4 am. Upon daylight inspection, we could see it was a public lot that was plowed in the middle of the night, so at least three hotels full of guests were impacted… way to go City Planning!

I really like this place. It’s a roof over my head and cheap. Friendly staff too! It’s always a decision between here or Howard Johnson. I think after this year I’m going to quit going to Howard Johnson because der ritterhof is better.

The hotel room is old and had wet spots in the carpet from water seepage underneath the foundation, 1^st floor room. Needs a remodel badly. The sink didn’t drain it was clogged and the room smelled damp. Queen Beds were decent. Breakfast had biscuits and gravy, canned OJ, over cooked boiled eggs and bagels, the plates are mini like 3 or 4″ round so used 4 of them. We probably won’t stay here again unless it’s free. Note managers, please get grown up plates.

Enjoyed our stay on our honeymoon. Hotel was clean and staff were very polite. The rooms were spacious and inviting. The big Knight in shining armor out front was pretty cool as he is made out of recycled auto parts and is very durable as he has protected the inn since the 1970’s. Continental breakfast had a nice variety but they did not put enough of the hot food out for all the guests, and subsiquently ran out before breakfast was done being served. Bed was very uncomfortable, hard and very creeky. Linens were very thin and rough. Pillows were hard and towels were like drying off with a roll of paper towels. I am only giving it 2 stars because on my opinion the two things a hotel must get right are the comfort of the bed and pillows and the plushness of the towels. They failed at both of these. I would probably not stay here again.

For the price, this hotel is a fab find, especially if you have dogs. There’s plenty of lush grass and dogs are allowed pretty much allowed wherever. Lots of other happy dog owners there. (If you’re one of those odd dog haters, you might look elsewhere). And yes, the rooms are dated, and the continental breakfast is barebones, but that’s true a lot of places in town. Our room was clean and bright and faced the courtyard and mountains, plus there are nice BBQ pits and a pool with lots of chairs. A major reno would push the price point up and ruin its allure. Der Ritterhof also wasn’t quite as overrun with kids as other places we’ve stayed (like the Best Western, where they were all over the place, while our dogs had few options other than hanging out in an expensive ground floor room facing a parking lot). I have no problem with kids, but some places seem to prioritize families over types of guests. This was a nice mix of people — we actually sat in the sun and chatted with several other couples while some cute kids gave our dogs lots of affection. It was laidback and pleasant. We would definitely return here.

We stayed here a few months ago, it was recommended by my mom, who stays here every summer. It was a great price and pretty decent motel for the price and letting our digs stay.
The only issue is we stayed in December and there was no one there and they put us in the far building, by the alley. I thought that maybe it was just the dog rooms but I saw others with dogs the next day in the other buildings. There’s no microwave unless you ask, we didn’t know that.eeek. but luckily for us the pizza place across the street was amazing.
I would definitely stay here again, the beds were suprising, super comfortable.
Also all the staff was super nice!

We are long time visitors to Leavenworth. We had our favorite, one and only, accommodation of preference for years. We grew to be part of their guest «family.» We always felt at home, and treated with the greatest care. Recently we added to our household a couple of hound dogs. Considering the options for a pet-​friendly inn, we chose Der Ritterhof. To our relief, the welcoming of pets was noticeable. The upgrades and refreshing of the rooms is impressive. The attention to detail in housekeeping, grounds, courteous staff, all added up to us looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for making our first visit a positive experience.

Great hotel with great rates! This is a nice quiet hotel that is close enough to the main downtown area to walk. We choose this hotel because they allow pets and we were very happy with our stay. The staff is friendly, the pool was nice and warm and the continental breakfast was perfect! We will definitely stay there again!

Stayed here for a few nights with my family this week. Staff was friendly, rooms were what you’d expect for the price. Much better continental breakfast of any other motel I’ve stayed at. Even better then some upscale hotels we’ve stayed in. The pool was nice and the kids really enjoyed the experience. The only real negative was the beds. They’re really low in quality and very firm and unforgiving and you can clearly see body impressions They’re a connected coil meant for children. I know mattresses inside and out.

They were one of few choices available for Valentines Day weekend. We stayed in a huge room with kitchen. Overall it was a pleasant stay but the bathroom could have been cleaner. The place definitely needs renovation.

For the price, this was a decent hotel. It’s only a few minutes walk from downtown — although in the snowy and icy conditions there were times we had wished we were a bit closer. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean. The continental breakfast was a nice bonus and they provided a pretty good selection. My only complain was the shower — maybe it was just our room but we couldn’t adjust the showerhead out of «massage» mode and it HURT. We all dreaded shower time. Overall, it was a good experience and for the price, I would definitely stay here again.

great spot. Everything is in a walking distance. Clean, tidy and was perfect for our needs. Would stay here again!

Stayed here with the Christmas Lighting Festival on December 2014 for a couple nights.
Check-​in was at 3 pm, but we came by bus, so we were early and our room wasn’t available. But the front desk was kind enough to take our luggage while we wait for the room and walk around downtown area.
Our room was one-​bedroom queen. The room was spacious and high ceiling, and great view. TV cable was available, but hardly used it.
Their heater/​air conditioner was a little loud though but probably because it’s an old model. But overall, my stay here was good. I would probably go back again if I ever visit Leavenworth.

I stayed at this place in the Winter of 2014 for 2 nights. Took a Family room.
Pros:
The room was quite spacious. The bedroom had 2 Queen beds. But it has space to have 1 more or probably 2 King beds. The Kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, plates, utensils etc.
We were 7 folks (4 Adults + 3 Children). This room was big enough to accommodate all of us. We of course utilized sleeper sofa and also asked for a roll-​in sofa. The sleeper sofa was not bad.
The reception/​office folks were pretty helpful. We had to call them at around 10:30 PM one day and they promptly responded
The janitor folks were helpful too. They adjusted their timing for ours when it came to cleaning and replacing towels etc.
The place is pretty close to commercial street. Being Christmas, room had a Christmas tree!
Wifi was good enough. TV, Refrigerator etc. were as expected.
Cons:
I would suggest that they have 2 bathrooms for such family rooms that can house 6+ folks.
Areas of Improvement:
To attract more clientele, I would suggest them to upgrade their interior decoration.
Being part of a «German» township, I would suggest that their room décor reflect the same. Would also suggest that they move away from the «standard» breakfast fair. Would like them to stand out from the crowd.

Just checked out on 11÷2÷14. We stayed for two nights. The staff was extremely friendly, best we’ve had up there. The only thing wrong was house keeping and the room
. The remote and mini fridge handle was sticky. There was dried pee around the latches of the toilet that you can tell has been there for awhile. And there was pubic hair was on the ground in the bathroom.
The problems with the room were the TV and the bed. TV picture was scaled too high and we couldn’t change it because we didn’t have the original remote and the bed was old and hard. Walking into the room you can see the indentations on the bed. the duvet cover was for a full and we had a queen. Needless to say my bf and I were fighting for the blanket all night. Staff was delightful, but the rooms are not up to par.

Ok. Room is clean & basic. Terrible wifi. Unable to connect. Don’t expect to connect. Breakfast great & staff really try hard to accommodate. Would come back, but know what to expect.

The hotel was reasonably priced and very nice! They have recently come under new ownership and I think the negative reviews are from the previous owners.
Docking a star though because the rooms aren’t very private and I wish the continental breakfast had some hot items.

Went to Leavenworth for the first time last weekend for my birthday. We live over 5 hours away and the drive took much longer than expected. The lobby office closes at Midnight, but the front desk attendant (Trista I think her name was? She also works at Gustavs) stayed late to make sure my group could check in. She was totally awesome about it and didn’t make us feel bad for running late.
We brought our dog and they have pet friendly rooms available. They aren’t gorgeous rooms or anything special but they are spacious and met all our needs.
The location of the hotel is great you can easily walk to any place in the small town.
Had a great experience.

It’s been a couple years since I’ve been here. After writing a negative review last time I wanted to give an update. Der Ritterhof is under new ownership and the place has seen a facelift since the last time I was here. I’ve been coming to this motel since 1990 and have watched the build up and slow fall. The new owners are really trying to build the place back up and are doing a great job. It really is hard to beat the place for the money. They have renovated the grounds and pool area, various elements of the rooms and yet the rates are still as good as they ever were. It’s a good spot once again!

I was in town with some friends for the Leavenworth Ale Festival. I was a last-​minute addition to their party, so I have no idea how much they paid for the hotel.
That said, this place kind of sucked.
Perhaps in a tribute to the traditional stone-​ware mugs of Bavarian, the mattresses were composed of the same material. I like me a firm mattress but these things were BRUTAL. Absolutely NO give to them.
One of my favorite things about hotels are the scorching, steamy showers afforded by space-​age water heaters they use. I DID NOT have the luxury of that here. The shower felt like someone was peeing on me. Lukewarm and disappointing.
There are no coffee makers in the rooms either.
I just looked up their prices and apparently they are one of the cheaper hotels in Leavenworth. I’ll spare them a one-​star rating for that.
