Karma Cakes

If you just want a sweet fix and are not looking for great cupcakes, this will do. I decided to try this place for the second time to develop a real opinion. It is quite underwhelming. The cake itself is just ok. As a major cupcake connoisseur, I do judge cupcakes quite critically. I eat cupcakes in every city I visit, and try to find the best. This place keeps their cupcakes in a cooler which makes the icing hard. Their cheap plastic forks don’t go through without a fight. I prefer a more smooth and creamy icing that you can cut through down to the cake easily. They might do better to turn the temp of the cooler up. The plain buttercream icing is not good at all. It has no real flavor and they LOAD it on. They aren’t they worst I’ve had, but I wouldn’t recommend them and don’t plan to be back. Go to Small Cakes if you want great cupcakes!

It is convenient for when I need a quick bday cupcake and I like to support local, however, the cupcakes are small, much smaller than other bakery’s, and expensive! $ 10 for 6 plain chocolate/​white cupcakes! This was my third time in the store and I was hoping their customer service had improved but I was sadly disappointed. The staff, not friendly, no one ever greets upon arrival and today an employee came out of the back chewing food! I’m sorry but that is gross and very inappropriate. I would overlook some Of these issues if they were nice, smiled and thanked me for coming in.

They did my promotion cakes and cupcakes– very delicious! Our timeline shifted a little to the left (approximately 30 minutes) unexpectedly and they very nicely accommodated. The cupcakes looked gorgeous, rolled in golden sugar. The cake was perfectly sweet. I will be returning for all my cake and cupcake needs!

I have ordered cakes and walked in for sweets. In both cases, the cake is moist, flavorful, light and airy. The frosting is the perfect amount, not too sweet and a nice compliment to the cake. The variety is wide and they always have something to fit your sweet need whether it be chocolate covered strawberries, cake pops, cheesecake or cakes to go in the case. Drinks and coffee are offered which is nice for grabbing a sweet on the go. The lemon cupcake is my favorite-​the sugared rim on the frosting sets off the lemon just right. It’s a nice treat to have a fun bakery downtown where kids are welcome. Very thankful to have a place where the owner greets you and is very accommodating.

Tried them once when they were Fou cakes on a day I got rained out at work. It was pretty good. Wanted to bring my wife to try them but the business hours do not allow it. Oh well. Why would you open a location downtown if you are not going to cater to the crowd that goes downtown??? Because you are in business for yourself, not your customers.

The display case looks great but beware of custom orders no matter how specific you are.

The lollipop cupcakes were really good. Conveniently located in downtown Leavenworth, the store is relatively easy to find. The service was great and the desserts are to die for. Will return for their desserts.

Same great cupcakes in a cute new location. Today I’m enjoying a maple bacon cupcake and chocolate covered strawberries in the Cupcake Lounge. I couldn’t resist and got a red velvet and Reese’s to go too. I’ve eaten a lot of cupcakes in my day. Karma stacks up against San Francisco’s Kara’s Cupcakes or DC’s Hello Cupcake. There are creative off-​the-​wall flavors as well as the usual carrot, chocolate and vanilla. I think what sets Karma apart is their service. When I stopped in today, the owner (Renee?) was quick to greet me, answer my questions and wrap up my order. Delicious cupcakes in a friendly environment… I’m in heaven.
PS There’s a sprinkle station perfect for parents who are looking for a fun indoor activity on cold days.
