I have eaten here in the past when visiting Leavenworth, this year I decided to stay here at their motel for two nights. OMG! It was awesome! They did not bug me one time and they were very casual, perfect for me. The room was basic, but very clean. I will definitely be staying here again and probably more often. I will recommend this place to everyone!

Chalet style roadside restaurant and lounge with much more potential than its current pitiful state. Food is traditional Americana with no frills. Crowd is usually roadside travelers on Hwy2 and seasonally fluctuates with peak travel times. Staff is nice enough. They appear to be downtrodden and overworked. It appears as if someone used to care but became greedy as the volume of roadside travel increased. As of a year ago the food was quite good, even if over priced, and possibly even made with passion. Now it has become a poster child for lower quality ingredients plated with an overpriced bill. Save your money.

Great place and great food, came here while camping. Host accommodated our vegetarian diet requirements and food was properly cooked

*I’m giving them some love because it doesn’t pretend to be what it is not *Great place to stop off HWY2, food won’t amaze you but it is hearty and the servers are always friendly enough *In an area without many options it is nice to have this place

Great server, great tots. The rest of the menu was hit-or-miss, however. My chili was lukewarm, and the beans were still hard(but at least it was made from scratch, not from a can.). My husband’s Philly cheese dip had great meat, but raw veggies which should have been sautéed to make it good. And the only dark beer they had was in a bottle? From the limited selection in the area, this place is alright. Don’t expect too much and you’ll do just fine.

We were in the area for the Oktoberfest at Leavenworth(Of course!), staying at the Thousand Trails location not far from the Squirrel Tree. We came in a couple of times through our 5 days in the area, and was not disappointed at all, for any reason! Service was fast and friendly, the food was great, and the ambiance in the whole place was just really fun and welcoming. We should be back up there before long, and will definitely make the Squirrel Tree a place to get to at least once or twice.

Went in at 1145 and it took the waitress 15 minutes to grab us menus and water, and a further 15 to take our order, with no one else in the place. Food took awhile, and the check took forever. Locals that came in a bit after us were seen to immediately and had their order taken and food out before she even took our order. The food was super greasy, very salty, and entirely too expensive. The only good thing in the whole experience were the tater-tots, which were nice and crispy. I will definitely not go here again.

Stop off there on Thursday for dinner. Food was really good. Portions were nice and price was good. Love the history of the place. Staff was great and so was service. Definitely will stop by again when in the area.

This place used to be amazing but new ownership has turned it to bad. First off, all the prices have jacked way up! What was once a $ 9 – 10 $ dish is now $ 15-$ 16! A small breakfast plate $ 15? We ordered 2 breakfasts and one drink and it was $ 40! Thats way too much money for breakfast. Second, we had to wait an hour and 45 minutes to get our food. This was insane. Other tables had to wait 2 hours just to get food. Several people got tired of waiting and got up to leave. The food portions used to be bigger, the previous owner was super nice and friendly and now the staff will barely say Hi, bathrooms arent stocked, flies hovering our table. Its so sad to see what has happened to this place now and I hope they get their act together because we been come here for over 20 years. Sadly, I dont think ill be returning again.

Awesome little place to get breakfast. Get the eggs benedict… it’s probably one the best I’ve ever had.

Love this place! The food is delicious. Great family owned business and the new owners are great! Just had the ham and cheese omelet with country potatoes and an amazing fluffy home made biscuit. Not many places left to get this kind of home made food! and for a great price!

Squirrel Tree has changed management, and we had heard the drinks and the food weren’t up to snuff like before. This past Friday on our way to camp on the Wenatchee River, we decided to stop for a drink and dinner and sat in the bar like we used to. The bartender, Terry, used to work at Headwaters(another nearby watering hold) and the drinks were surprisingly good! A strong pour of booze, unlike the other bar he worked at. It was prime rib special that night, and I went for the 8 oz portion. It started off with a super fresh green salad w/baby corn, pepperoncini, carrots, olives, cheese, homemade croutons and THEBEST raspberry vinaigrette. Came w/real mashed potatoes and gravy and steamed veggies. At $ 17.95, it felt a little pricey but then again it did come with a starter salad and the prime rib was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly to order(med-well). Only downside is my slice was pretty fatty, but prime rib tends to be so no stars knocked off. Service was great, and when burgers are approaching $ 14.95, the prime rib felt like a deal. Husband had the monte cristo sandwich w/tots. He asked for real cheddar instead of American cheese, and they even threw in some swiss cheese along with the turkey and ham. Dusted with powdered sugar, it was both a sweet and savory combination. This isn’t fine dining, it’s comfort dining. Joints like these don’t necessarily specialize in personalized service. That said, Terry, who worked the bar service, was a great bartender and server. Sure, things have changed and the prices have gone up a bit, but it’s still the Squirrel Tree and still a worthy stop off Hwy 2.

Was the only place that was available memorial day weekend on a saturday night. The waitress/bartender when we got there was very nice. The room was decent, a little outdated. The next morning we ate next door for breakfaset and the waitress was more than lacking in more than one area. Had attitude when we asked for our table to be wiped up and was very slow. Food was okay. Probably wouldn’t return unless we had no other option.

The Squirrel Tree Restaurant has been a landmark on US Hwy 2 near Lake Wenatchee for many years. In the past few years, it has been managed under contract by a very professional staff. The menu was interesting and tasty, and the service friendly and fast. Recently, after being closed for a short time, the owners made a change and now it is managed directly by the owners. The new menu is limited and basic. The food is also basic. The new staff is friendly and competent. Is it as good a place to eat as before? Not yet, but maybe some day.

This is a family owned restaurant and it shows. The staff greets you with a warm hello and makes you feel like your one of the family. The food was delicious, I had to try a bite from everyone’s plate. Can’t wait to go back.

We were looking for a place to grab a drink and watch the Seahawks game on our way back to Seattle from Leavenworth yesterday and we happened upon the Squirrel Tree Restaurant. The bar area is small and separated from the main restaurant, which was perfect for the rowdy little group that came together there. Ryan the Bartender had amazing stories and had tons of(inappropriate) jokes up his sleeve — not to mention a heavy pour of liquor. The bar owner is a 49ers fan, so cheer for them to get in his extra good graces(read: free fireball shots). Over all, couldn’t have asked for a better environment to watch a football game, drink a beer, and get right back on the road. Will stop here again!

We like to stop in for breakfast on our last day of camping at Lake Wenatchee, go back in time and have a hardy breakfast. Staff is a little slow but the food was really good. Huge pancakes(biscuit type pancake), big links of sausage(sweet type and not salty), real eggs not cooked in lots of oil/butter, veggie omelet with lots of veggies, and the hash browns were nice and crunchy on the edges. Oh yeah, coffee was ok… just coffee.
