Prepare to get addicted to this upscale dining/jazz experience. Full of careful attention to detail: food, beverages, service, cleanliness. They do it right over and over again. Their every day menu is a delight(especially the lamp chops) but I am particularly fond of their Thanksgiving buffet and their Valentine Day’s special menu with wine pairings. LOVE this place.

First trip to GLG last night. 4 of us. Our reservation was in the Back Room where the live Jazz is enjoyed. Dick H. walked the room and introduced himself to tables, celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, and other milestones. I found this to be a nice touch. We were seated at a table directory next to the emergency exit door. My legs had a cold draft during the entire evening. My mom sat on a fork left in her chair. We were finally greeted by our server after about 20 minutes. We had the crab dip and spicy calamari. Pretty good. 2 from our party order from Restaurant Week menu. Sunday night is Prime Rib night and this was ordered along with a crusted blue cheese ribeye. The prime rib was over done. I specifically asked for creamy horseradish, was told it comes with it, and it was finally delivered when I had a remaining 3 bites to use it with. Ribeye was ordered medium rare, delivered medium well, sent back, and delivered back medium. Our server took it off our bill. The leftover ribeye was to be boxed up. It was sitting on the tray next to our table as a busser then put his dirty tray ONTOP of the ribeye and we watched as it sat there until they realized the mistake that had been made. They brought it back to us in a box. Thanks. We waited and waited and waited. Most of the waiting time was with dirty dishes in front of us. It was cold. Not enjoyable. I’m cancelling our Valentine’s Day dinner here which I’d made in expectation of really enjoying this place. We really enjoyed the live jazz. Had we been somewhere else in the restaurant, I’d given 2 stars.

This locally owned restaurant is full of personal service. The owner is active in the customer service and has a presents in daily operations. This is a big deal when it comes to the over experience which great. Music is performed by quality musicians and the interior finish is great in the front room but hotelish in the back room. Food is a good value with large portions of quality ingredients. Steaks and risotto where highlights of the menu. You can choose a chain or choose to keep your money local. I choose local.

We sat in the back room with live jazz and had a top-notch experience. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about their extensive wine list and the steaks we ordered were cooked perfectly. Owner Dick Hawk came by our table and struck up a little conversation about our anniversary, which was nice because we seemed to be the youngest in the crowd by far. Music was fantastic, Dick sat in on the piano and moonlighted a little bit as a jazz musician. Over all, it was a better experience for the same price you’d pay at other fine dining establishments. You certainly can tell when someone cares about their business.

Love the rack of lamb. Nice for that special night out. Took my brother, from San Francisco, there and he enjoyed it as well. I love the rack of lamb, Sonny likes the pork chop(huge) and the sides are really, really good. The entire menu is very good, something for everyone and specials are usually something different as well. Think you would enjoy your time spent at the Gaslight.

This was one of the best brunches I have enjoyed! There was no wait to be seated on a Sunday morning. The buffet was set up with breakfast on one side and lunch on the other. There was also a section for salads and beads. They even have fruit smoothies on the buffet. The food was hot, fresh and had good flavoring.

One of the best filets in KC. The service was excellent and so was the New Orleans style jazz music. We really enjoyed meeting Dick Hawk who personally came around to every table in the Jazz lounge. We would recommend to anyone!

Excellent service and good food. Room seems a bit overwhelming with the really high ceilings, but the atmosphere on the deck outside the bar is great.

After a BBQ at a friends house, we passed by the Gaslight Grill. Our kids had been so good at the overcrowded house, we wanted to reward them with desserts. First, my wife checked in; 9:15, is it crowded? are they closing soon? Do they mind if we come in for desserts and drinks? They assured us all was good. 14 mins to be greeted. Only 2 other tables in the restaurant. Then, with this big selection of cordials, cocktails, coffee drinks, and desserts, I ask our server for hot chocolates for our kids to go with their desserts. He doesn’t even try and tells me they don’t have any. To be an ass, I hold my ground and offer him at least 3 ways to make it. Eventually he comes up with them. 4 desserts, 2 hot chocolates, a coffee drink, and a cordial later, all was delicious, the kids loved their first experience with live jazz and even danced on the dance floor bringing smiles to the old guys faces. I hated(not really) pushing the waiter into being a server, but it paid off, not only for us, but because he finally put forth effort and made the evening wonderful, for the server as well as I left a 40%. to hopefully get across the message, show a little care and it will eventually pay off for you.

What a great experience this was! The food and atmosphere were outstanding, & I absolutely adored the jazz band that played. I had the Oscar Filet and it was incredible! If you’re ever in Kansas check this place out!

Gaslight grill is situated near a church. So on Sundays, this seems like the place for all the church goers to frequent. We asked for a 10:30am reservation on a Sunday, but was told only 10:15am was available then 11:15 and so on. Ok, fine 10:15am it is. Arrived at that time, and was sat in the back in the«music room». It was not busy at all. So I didn’t understand what the 15 minute difference was all about. The host and servers were very nice! Food was good for a buffet.($ 23 per person) They offer eggs Benedict which is made to order. It comes with the buffet price, but was lacking in flavor for me. They had everything from salmon to bacon. Also had an area with a dessert area and fruit smoothies. A tip for you, orange juice is not free refills… $ 2.50 for a medium glass that they didn’t inform us of the extra price and no free refills. So just go get the fruit smoothies near the dessert area which is free. I would go again.

This place is five star heavy! Went here for a celebration after hearing many good things-no disappoint here. I had the Fried Lobster– woo-wee! Scrumptious and creatively plated on the half shell with whipped Yukon potatoes and green beans. My hubby had the filet with asparagus and whipped potatoes which was to die for. Some of my our other dining counterparts had the Lamb Chops and t

We came for brunch and it was really good. It was kind of weird because it was Sunday and we decided to go to brunch at like 9am before church so my husband called and they said they had a 10, 10:30, and 1pm reservations open. I had to be somewhere by 2:30…so I looked on open table and they were wide open. I booked a Noon reservation, we got right in and they weren’t even busy. So that was kinda weird they said that over the phone. Once we got there everything was great. The service was awesome! We had the buffet and the food was excellent. I loved the mac and cheese, the prime rib was good, jambalya was delish! Bacon was good, just your normal brunch stuff. The desserts were extra good :) haha but all in all the brunch was excellent! I’d come back.

This place ranked right up there with some of the best salmon I’ve ever had; and I lived in the Northwest for 8 years. The salmon had some sort of pistachio glaze on it, asparagus and risotto under it. All was superb! My wife had sea bass which was equally amazing! Their gumbo appetizer wasn’t very good as well as their Belgian chocolate cake. The main entrees made up for it though. Of course this isn’t the cheapest place you’ll ever eat but it’s with splurging every now and then!

Got a last minute reservation and arrived way too early but were greeted and seated right away. The hospitality did not end there. Our server was wonderful as was each person who either filled a drink or picked up a plate from our table. Even when leaving we were thanked by several staff/servers. Our first round of drinks came out so fast I swear they made them before we ordered! Never had an issue with timing of the food or drinks even when it began to get busy. Appetizer: BBQ shrimp-delicious Dinner: Dick Hawk Steak-delicious, butternut squash risotto-a little gummy in texture, but tasted good Dessert: Crème Brule-tasted good, but needed a thicker crust of sugar on the top to be perfect Cocktails: Perfect Manhattan-perfect, Long Island Ice tea-very good, Chocolate Charlie-YUM! We were glad we made the trip to try Gaslight Grill and we will defiantly be returning.

Had a great experience here last night to celebrate a romantic birthday with my boyfriend. We sat in the back where the live jazz played and had great service. The owner of the restaurant was there and was very personable. He was guest playing with the musicians and announced happy birthday to my boyfriend while playing. They also placed happy birthday confetti on the table and we had dessert on the house. All around the experience was wonderful and the staff definitely made the night special. Would go back!

I had Atlantic salmon and my friend has mahi mahi. Personally, I felt my food was too salty, so I tried my friend’s mahi mahi. It was yummy and I like the mashed yam around it. The live jazz is delightful and smooth. I wish I can just sit there whole night and enjoy it. My waitress was Christine in the Back Room(the Jazz Room). She was very friendly and detail oriented. When we had question about what sauce was made of, or what was what, she was always very knowledgable. I used the Groupon $ 60 for 2 people. I feel my money was worth it, and did I mention jazz was good? Oh, yeah! It was really good! I was bobbing my head all the time. Jazz is one of USA’s best national treasure. I can’t live without jazz.

I can only speak for the dessert and ambiance. Price: Steakhouse pricing of about $ 25 per entrée. Parking: Lot… usually easy to find. Service: Ehh… nothing to complain about. They’re usually fast and friendly Food: We ordered the chocolate cake, pumpkin cheesecake, and crème brûlée. I’m not a fan of crème brûlée so I can’t speak on that, but my friends said it tasted fantastic. The pumpkin cheesecake was so rich and delicious. I would order that again. THECHOCOLATECAKE. Don’t get me started on that. I am a lover of chocolate and a hands down lover of this cake. It is the best chocolate cake I have ever had. It was so moist and delicious and full of gluten. Notes: LIVEJAZZ. You’ll witness super cute older couples dancing. So adorable. Gluten-free-ers: Unsure. This was during my non-gluten free times. Overall: I’ll come again with some friends for dessert because their desserts are hands down fantastic. I hope to try their entrees as well.
