We are HUGE fans of LL Bean. In fact, probably 30% of my wardrobe consists of clothing from LL Bean so you can say I was just a little bit excited to find out they were opening a store here in Leawood. My entire family actually headed out to take part in the opening day weekend chaos. The store itself is laid out well and has all the nifty details you’ve come to expect from Bean(the door handles are boat oars). The sales people were super friendly. They helped my husband select the perfect pair of waterproof shoes. I’ve been back several times to return things I’ve purchased via mail order and the staff behind the counter handles those things graciously too, even though no sales are being made. The only fault I find in the store is that when compared with shopping online there are no sales racks(that I saw) and what girl doesn’t love a bargain? Maybe the store was too new to have many markdowns? The second problem, and this is with the entire area, not just Bean: parking is a real pain. Whoever developed that area just didn’t consider it at all. We frequently have to park at Trader Joes(a block away) or somewhere else to visit shops like Apple or LL Bean. I avoid going if the weather is bad because of this.

I’ve always liked the LL Bean Brand; outdoorsy, high quality and versatile. Growing up it was something you could order out of a catalog, and then something you’d order online. Now in these fancy modern times, you can walk in the actual store — what a time to be alive. This store is fantastic. It’s not oversized like many suburban stores, in fact I’d say it’s just right. My first visit after the holidays showed me that you can find awesome winter gear, shoes, boots, hats and everything in between. I’m not much of a shopper if I don’t know what I need, but this was a different experience. Right when I walked in I saw a down jacket that I desperately needed and the staff was more than helpful to explain what temperatures it would be best or and checking in the back for my size. I’ll definitely come back here, as I could be blindfolded and walk into something I’d like.

LL Bean opened this new store in Town Center between the Apple Store and Trader Joe’s recently. We did not plan to stop there but we were at Trader Joe’s when Eric R. noticed it. After grocery shopping, we sauntered over to check it out. The store is huge. We were greeted kindly, and I went to the women’s while Eric R. went to the men’s. He was looking for fleece-lined jeans, which he was able to find with some help from a nice associate. I apparently found the Fountain of Youth though. I started browsing, not too familiar with the brand besides the jackets. One associate came up to me, and specifically pointed out tags that say«LL Bean Signature» which she said have a more«youthful» look. I suppose she implied I did not fit the image of the LL Bean customer who does not wear those tagged items. I was slightly flattered, and kept browsing. Another associate offered me a fitting room for the items I was holding. When I was ready to try them on, she pointed at the dressing room door and said, «Here is your room, kiddo!» Since two different associates called me «youthful» and«kiddo,» I have determined this store to be the Fountain of Youth. You should check it out! Or maybe it is just my personal Fountain of Youth. I ended up buying a sweater and a quilted down skirt that were quite unique, comfortable, and fit well. There was a promotion that several associates explained to us quite differently(mostly with missing or wrong information), but if one spent more than $ 50, we would get a $ 10 gift card that could be used 24 hours later until early February. Originally we were told we could have it indefinitely for use but it has an expiration date — boo! Eric R. and I bought 3 items over $ 50 but the promotion was limit one per person so we checked out separately and have $ 20 in credit to use. If we lived in town we would go back and get him some hiking boots but we can order online and get free shipping. LL Bean does have a great return policy, which is essentially indefinite returns for any reason. One associate described someone who returned old t-shirts and shoes from the 1970s, but that sounds quite unethical. I think though if your items wear out not long after you buy them, you can feel assured that LL Bean will exchange them or give you the opportunity to buy something else. The store is a bit pricey but I think the service and return policy is a plus. Eric R. did tell me that LL Bean is his grandfather’s favorite store so maybe that is why when I shopped here I found the Fountain of Youth!

A nice addition to the area! I had never been to an L.L. Bean before but stopped by to pick up a couple gifts my hubby that I had already scoped out online. LL Bean seems to have a great selection — tons of items filled the store and their quality seems to be top-notch as well. Of course with high quality products comes high prices — I paid about $ 80 for a tunic for myself — but I feel that their prices are comparable to other outdoorsy companies such as Patagonia or the North Face. I also found their staff to be very friendly and helpful without being pushy. Bob greeted me at the door and I found him to be very personable and enjoyable. Another cool thing — they are apparently going to offer some classes or group activities such as cross country skiing and stand up paddle boarding. Will for sure be looking into these opportunities. Great store with awesome quality and selection!

I just purchased one pair of jeans and two coats at this LL Bean location. I was absolutely overwhelmed by the service that I was provided! It was better service than I can ever remember receiving in any other clothing store. To be specific, the woman that helped me find the two coats that I was desperately looking for, as they appeared to be sold out online, name was Phyllis F. Phyllis F. was magnificent I helping me track down the coat the I truly came to this store to find. Not only was she über helpful she was able to give me the 10% cyber Monday discount; even though this purchase was not done online! The two jackets that I purchased were: one, a bullet gray down jacket with orange trim… this was either sold out or back ordered everywhere online; however, Phyllis was able to track down one in the store for me:)! Second, I had put another jacket on hold the previous night and they was no problem in locating this jacket… I was impressed relative to other clothing stores! Also, it seems as if Thanksgiving has made an impact on my waistline; and, was able to purchase a cheap pair of jeans that will look nice and FIT until such time as I am able to work out enough to decrease my waist size! In my most humble of opinions, I think that LL Bean has surpassed The North Face in terms of quality, amount of selection, PRICE, and friendliness/helpfulness of staff! Next time that you are thinking about purchasing a North Face item, I suggest that you check out LL Bean first, as you might be much more satisfied! The only way I could give this place a fifth star is: their increasing the amount of selection during the holidays; otherwise I found my visit to this store to be nearly flawless. I hope other Unilocalers have a similar experience at this store:)!

5 Stars– Quality 5 Stars– Customer service 4 Stars– Variety 3 Stars– affordability It’s L.L. Bean, what else needs to be said! If you’re looking for quality clothing and equipment, They’ve got here. Marino wool, snow gear, camping equipment, snuggly slippers, or rugged snowboots. The clothing here maybe pricey, but you’re buying pieces that will stand the test of time and rugged outdoor use. Don’t have sticker shock, it’s not cheap but neither is the quality. But remember, it comes with L.L. Bean’s backing… If you’re not completely satisfied they guarantee your money back.
