Just an update: We hired Chippers to take down another 10+ trees this winter. They did a great job, just like last time. Everything went smoothly just as expected, no problems, no complications, no collateral damage. The crew was good — conscientious and professional. Chippers’ bids/​estimates are a bit higher than others, but they get the job done right, so I think they’re a much better deal in the end. We’ll definitely hire them again next year.
One tip: I think they prefer to remove trees during the winter, maybe because the ground is frozen plus they’re less busy with other jobs. They had a 10% winter discount this year. So if you’re scheduling something for winter, that might be worth asking about.
