Behold greatness. Morgan Music is a veritable oasis of music goodness, a watering hole of great acoustic and electric guitars, banjos, mandolins, bass, ukuleles, music accessories and more. The rarest of rare birds in the music business, this gorgeous store in tiny Lebanon, Missouri. How good is it? My nearby hangout of Kansas City, Missouri, the extended metropolitan are that boasts over 2 million residents has nothing that comes close to what tiny Lebanon and their 12,000+ residents have. This, is a national class music store. Kansas City does not have one. Lebanon does. Go figure. Spent about three hours today test driving instruments with a friend, chatting with the staff who really know their stuff: not just the instruments, but how they’re built, who the major players and builders are, and what makes a great instrument what it is. All the great brands: Gibson, Martin, Collings, Eastman, and many great smaller niche brands. We left with a $ 11K rare, early Gibson banjo in tow(purchased by a friend that accompanied me). Me? I left with a $ 40 mandolin/guitar pick. Don’t laugh. It’s worth every penny. If you’re a musician, this is a must visit. A destination worth driving to whether you’re in St. Louis, Kansas City, Tulsa, or just down the road if you’re lucky enough to live close by. Owning and operating one of the largest and longest running music web sites on the internet is my day job, and I was delighted to see a store of this stature in south central Missouri. Want to know what a great music store looks like? Make a trip here and you’ll find out.
