Sum Yan Chinese Restaurant

If I could give zero I would. Beware of food. Got served raw pork. And we ordered this to our hotel. Called and offered to bring food back to get money returned. They offered nothing to make it right. Could not eat.

Went here today with my wife to see if anything had changed. Had the buffet. This was around 1pm and not that many people there. The egg rolls and other fried item were all gone and 3 of the other entrees were all most gone. 3 or 4 items per warming tray. This is how it went the whole time we were there. They would put a little in and in a few minutes it was gone. We sat there waiting for items to come. I never did get an egg roll.
When I went to pay the owner asked did you write on the web. At first I did not know what he was talking about. It had been about 4 years earlier I was there and he came to our table and complained about the food we left on the plate. I was there with friends and could not believe he said that. So I wrote a review about that.
So today he told me «remove review or not come back» .
Well I’m not removing review and now writing this update. Don’t worry I will not be back and will let every one I know of your rudeness and lack of food in your buffet.

The buffet food was either cold or so over cooked from staying on the warming plate that is was like saddle leather the green salad was sitting in water so it had browned and was rather limp.(our child ate off the buffet)
My wife and I ate family style. The appetizer was okay pork was luke warm and definitely had sat for awhile.
We got the chicken and shrimp with vegetables and the sweet and sour chicken. Chicken and shrimp was good, but the sweet and sour chicken had so much sauce that the breading fell off and was rather chewy.

Seriously good food! Service was good, food was better! Clean fried food, best sweet and sour chicken I have ever had. Brocolli and beef was a tad sweet for me but their hunan beef was great.
Seriously, I will not go to another chinese food place again. I drive from Albany to go here and my friends drove from Salem, worth the drive!

Delicious and authentic food. Never ate at the restaurant, always took it to go or had it delivered. Portion sizes are good for the price. Staff is always nice and they deliver! Great perk for the small town of Lebanon

Waited 20min to orders. The waitress said another 35 min wait. We decided leave another.

I went here today with my boyfriend and nephew. My first impression was that it was clean. We ordered chicken with green beans in black bean sauce, sesame chicken, and a combination; fried shrimp, pork fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and beef with vegetables. I also had the egg flower soup with my meal. I really liked the sesame chicken it had good flavor and the chicken was good quality. Almost everything was good except the pork fried rice and egg flower soup. The rice was dry and looked kind of old. I was tentative on eating the egg flower soup, it was neon yellow and tasted like nothing. Overall we recieved good service and most of the food was good.

This is our regular Chinese/​American restaurant. We have been eating here for almost 2 years, and have never been disappointed with the quality of food, customer service or friendly staff. We love this place, the staff and the delicious cuisine.

Sum Yan is by far the most flavorful and freshest Chinese restaurant we have been to in a long time. For a small town like Lebanon, we were not expecting anything great, but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything is always cooked fresh and ready on time when we order take out (have never eaten at the restaurant). Beef and broccoli has loads of fresh broccoli and great cuts of beef (not chewy or stringy). Highly recommend!

Sum Yan is my favorite place to get Chinese. Especially during their lunch time special on the buffet! It’s awesome! The servers take very good care of you and are always very friendly. I’ve never been let down by them. I remember being in middle school and me and my friends went but at the end we realized we were short a couple dollars and they were so sweet and let us pay them back after we caught up with mom and dad again. The sweet and sour chicken and crab rolls are my favorite!

The only Chinese food I will ever eat again. I will happily drive the 30minutes it takes to get there. I’ve never been a fan of orange chicken but whatever they do to it is amazing! I could eat it everyday and have often a couple times a week, especially since pregnant. Our kids even enjoy it. The staff is always very nice. My one and only complaint is they aren’t open late. Sometimes I need a late night fix.:)

I never liked egg foo young until I tried it at Sum Yan. Their menu has a lot of choices for folks with different preferences. We eat at Sum Yan at least once a month and the food quality is consistent and always good. The one time we did have a problem with a take out order they made it right, no questions asked.
The service is good, the food is good, and they have facilities for larger groups. This is one of our regular favorites.
They have a lunch buffet that is a good value, but it is generally the same each day. People looking for variety may get tired of the buffet fairly quickly. I have enjoyed it when I have ordered it.
