Tommy’s Takeout is a roadside food stand which also features a huge garage sale on the same premises. The parking situation is a bit tight. There are outside takeout windows in front for ordering and picking up food. The menu offerings include hot & cold subs, sandwiches, fried seafood, chicken, appetizers, burgers, hot dogs, lobster rolls, salads, hand tossed pizza(slice or pie), Coke products, and Gifford’s Ice Cream. The prices here are pretty fair. I stopped here for lunch on a very sunny day and ordered a Clam Cake($ 1.75) and a Grilled Cheese Sandwich($ 2.25) and made it a basket(add $ 1.75) with fries and cole slaw. While I was waiting for my food to be ready, I browsed around the garage sale which was really packed with lots of junk, I meant to say treasures to some people. There were old clothes, records, CDs, VHS, DVDs, video games, toys, knick knacks, tools, kitchen stuff, furniture, TVs, radios, posters, fabrics, shoes, bags, and too much to name. I browsed through the crates and shelves of CDs and many titles I already have at home. I did pick up some $ 3 used CDs for the ride. My name was called over the intercom when the food was all set. The food was pretty okay. The grilled cheese sandwich was small and wasn’t even grilled. It was a hamburger bun flipped in reverse and toasted with melted cheese, the bread not buttered. The clam cake was deep fried and very crunchy and greasy on the outside. The fries were fried golden and pretty standard. The minced cole slaw was sweet, creamy, and crispy. Overall, not a bad lunch and I did score some cool music on the cheap for the rest of the ride.
