Yes. Just yes. Little disorganized with ordering and paying but totally 100% worth it.

I was kind of weary going here at first because of some of the negative reviews and overall rating of 3⁄5 stars, but let me tell you I was thoroughly impressed with this place. Ordered a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel and it was delicious. The bagel was nice and fluffy on the inside but the outside had a crunchiness to it which I liked. The cheese was melted which is key on any breakfast sandwich and had just the right amount of Taylor ham. I’ve seen negative reviews about the bagels being out in the open and how you have to hand them over the counter. Simple solution people, try grabbing a bagel from the back of the rack this way you can be assured that not many, if any, people touched your bagel or coughed/sneezed on it etc. Then all you do is grab the bagel, walk over to whoever is behind the counter and hand her your bagel. Not rocket science people. The girl I handed my bagel to was friendly and polite and had rubber gloves on so I had no problem with this operation. Overall good experience and I will return as I work up in the area.

Very rude people, who can’t get simple orders correct and what they do serve is just mediocre. There are plenty of other options. Don’t bother with this place.

1st off I want to say I think their bagels and sandwiches are good. It’s the service that stopped me from going. After standing in half ass unorganized lines a few times, for sometimes up to 30 mins, I got their phone number so I can call 20 mins away, and have my order waiting, which is the whole point. This was fine the 1st few times, though it was on slower days. The last 2 times, was a headache. They have no line for called in orders, so even if you call in there’s still a line just to talk to someone. You’d think there would be like a movie theater line, like a line they have for people with tix, to move quick. The«last» time I went I called, she said 15 mins, I got there in 15, waited 5 mins in line, told my order, paid. Then waited patiently for my order, which you would think would be waiting for me, or I’d get a «it’s almost done», but no, they asked me «what did I order?» 2 times, then after waiting 15 more mins, they started to make the order. As the head lady told me to move aside to the back of the store, I guess I was in the way of people who just got there and were already getting their stuff made. What’s the point of calling in an order if they don’t bother to make it!!! Never again…

I’m so done with the poor attitude here! They also no longer do the 2.25 breakfast sandwich, it’s now 3.00 and only do it 4 days a week. I just want to make sure you Unilocaled are aware of that… also the specials are not the same as the regular size breakfast specials. Way smaller… I was a regular here, but not any more. I went there yesterday morning at 6 am to get my snow crew sandwiches and not even the lousy daily specials. I ordered 9 Taylor ham egg and cheese sandwiches and got nothing but attitude, not once but 3 times. Why didn’t you call and order them again with a nasty tone was the first comment,(it was 6:30am then yelled over the counter at me from the owner was all that Taylor ham is now taking up my grill, so I said then make some bacon, again I got attitude at the register when I went to pay. Your husband should run the show, at least he’s nice. There are like 5 places to get good bagels in my area, I’m done with these people… Obviously they don’t need the business and they really are like rolls anyway, not bagels. Bagels on a Hill great bagels Alpha bagels in Randolph really good Roxbury Bagels good and less expensive daily specials. Randolph Bagels by the Randolph diner I don’t need to spend my money and get a poor attitude over giving you a lot of business!

This place is a joke if you’re looking for a bagel. Those aren’t bagels you guys sell. They are mutated rolls. Anyone who has ever lived in or near nyc knows what a real bagel is. Tough to find a decent bagel in these parts, but this… hands down garbage. So disappointed I threw it out so the birds wouldn’t suffer eating this. Stay away if you know and like bagels! They should be sued for false advertising.

BESTBAGELSEVER! Their bagels are so soft and so big. No matter the bagel you get, it is covered in what you want(everything bagel is my favorite). Lunch or breakfast, their sandwiches are the best.

Freaking fantastic Bagel Shop. I used to live in the area, now I live in Morristown, and every chance I can find I hop over to this wonderful family owned shop. The owners as well as the workers have been there for as long as I can remember, they know my name and often my order and are always quick to point out new additions that I should try. It is very clear that they take a lot of pride in this place. So for those reviewers out there that thought they were«rude», you’re wrong it called pride. Also, you’re in Jersey now. Grow some balls. The bagels are damn delicious; and as someone who’s had the misfortune to try anything else in the area, it don’t get better than Java Joes. I would HIGHLY suggest you try their egg or blueberry bagel, you’re day gets exponentially better with every buttery, soft and chewy bite. Coffee is also wonderful(no refills tho) During the colder months they will have soup. STOPWHATEVERYOUAREDOINGANDGETYOURSELFSOMESOUP. DOIT. If you’re having a bad day, go in for some chili cheese fries… You’ll thank me forever. So there you have it, awesome staff, fantastic bagels, above average cup o’ joe, soup, chili cheese fries, and even a display of cake pops; adorable ones btw.

Absolutely the best bagels in the area! Self-select what you buy, or order several dozen ahead. The bagels are worthy of 4 stars, ambiance a 2 star. It’s a counter order shop with self serve features. You can order sandwiches etc to be made while you wait. Coffee is average. They have a handful of tables to sit and eat. Staff can be a little abrupt. Reminds me if a certain Seinfeld episode. You kind of have to understand how the process works: select bagels, wait in long line to pay. Want it toasted w spread, select bagel go to service counter, hand over bagel and wait in long line to pay while they are prepping your order.

OK so this is our third and last visit Java Joes Bagels. So being new to the area after having moved here from New York where they make real bagels. So we have been looking for a place that sells as close to possible to New York bagels as we can find so our first time here was a little confusing I mean who’s ever heard of self-serve bagels just a thought of it alone is kind of disgusting bagels out in the open for every type of disease child to sneeze on cough on I mean who knows who’s been in here. So not knowing the order of things I walk up to the cashier to place my order while the cashier happens to be the owner of the store so you would think that being a new customer they might take a little extra gratitude and have the owner show you what you should do instead I’m told go grab your bagel from the bin then come talk to me. So that already put a bad taste in my mouth but I comply grab two everything bagels and one cinnamon raisin bagel go back up to the cashier and ask if I could have these sliced toasted and cream cheese added to the everything bagels and butter to the cinnamon raisin. Now seeing as how it’s a self-serve bagel shop you would think that they would allow you to slice toast and your butter or cream cheese yourself but instead you have to hand your bagels over to the workers who than take about 10 minutes just to slice toast and butter your bagels. After having finally waited for 15 minutes to get the bagels back then wait in line to be checked out by the cashier I hand the cashier over the money my total came to $ 4.97 I handed the cashier a $ 10 bill and she gave me back $ 5.03 however I mistakenly thought I had handed her a 20 at this point she snaps at me saying I haven’t even put the $ 10 in the till yet you can see you only gave me a $ 10 bill and even if I had I have cameras that we can go look at if you’re unsure I mean wow so I was my mistake I owned up to it and said I apologize she didn’t say anything to me and walked away. As this was a weekday morning and it was a little crowded I chalked it up to just being busy and maybe she was just having a bad day. Now the bagels were not that bad«let me rephrase that the bagel buns where not that bad as they don’t have any holes in them I don’t think you can technically call them bagels but they are a big soft and if you like that in your bagel don’t come in expecting to get bagels and you’ll be OK. During our second visit we had asked the cashier if they had any potato salad and we were told it’s over in the showcase prepackaged as we already looked in the showcase and they were runny and had hair on the containers from other people so we did not want prepackage and we ask they had any fresh potato salad we don’t do that here what’s in the case is what’s in the case and that’s it so again this is another day still rude and still discussed what kind of bagel place doesn’t have fresh potato salad very weird anyway as before we order our bagels waited 20 minutes for them to be sliced toasted and cream cheese put on them. We ate and moved on with our day. And now comes to strike three you’re out we will never come back again so today we go to the bagel store once more we bring in our two children we get six bagels we ask for four of them to be sliced toasted and cream cheese which is the usual I don’t think it’s that difficult to slice toast to put cream cheese on four bagels well we pay for our order we go to sit outside and wait for our bagels One of the workers brings the bagels out to us but only brings three bagels instead of the four we say I think you forgot a bagel and a worker says well I asked you before if you had four bagels and you didn’t reply so I figured it was only the three saying that if we want the fourth one will have to pay for it since we didn’t pay for the first time now when I went to the cashier we told him we had six bagels two we were taking home and four they were supposed to slice toast put cream cheese on so our total bill came to $ 20.43 six bagels two coffees and a water if you think about it that’s a lot of money for six bagels two coffees and a water. After which we go to get our coffee and there’s a wonderful sign as large as can be that states no free coffee refills you must pay for every single cup really your that cheap to make us pay for every single cup of coffee. Not to mention that today for some reason the bagels just tasted off and weird I’m sorry the bagel buns tasted off and weird so I seen a lot of other reviews of other places that have much better bagels so we will continue on our search to find the bagel shop in New Jersey that will suit our breakfast needs. We will not return to Java Joe’s bagel shop and yes we do see your big sign that says the best of Roxberry 2010. If you’re the best Roxberry has to offer that’s not saying very much.

There are at least four, if not five bagel shops I could go to but Java Joes is the best. Solid variety of flavors and great quality. The even make great lunch sandwiches. The only negative doesn’t involve the food or the staff, but the order/pay process. I’ve been going here for awhile and can mostly navigate it, but if there are a ton of people in there(like probably when you want to be there) it becomes a complete mess.

This place doesn’t even deserve a star. Plenty of better alternatives out there. The staff is downright rude. We paid for our food and sat down to eat at the table in front of the cashier. Soon afterwards, the cashier came up to us and told him he needed to pay for his drink. I heard my friend order, he definitely included his drink when he listed his items, but the cashier boy seemed to have forgotten to ring it up. Instead of acknowledging his mistake, the boy accused him of picking up the drink after paying. Really? You’re going to accuse your customers, that are sitting down eating right in front of you, of stealing??? Jerk move, bud. To boot, when I ordered a fruit smoothie(key word, FRUIT), the same cashier grabbed the ingredients to make it. I saw him grab bottles of flavored goop, and no real fruit. I asked him to not make it anymore since it wasn’t going to have any real fruit in it. He proceeded to roll his eyes at me and said«FINE». Uh, thanks kid. I don’t need attitude from you when I’m trying to have breakfast. I will never come back to this place. This is my first, and absolute last time. From all the other reviews, seems like the owners are inconsiderate as well. So the business culture is to alienate their customer base… good luck.

Decent selection of bagels, cream cheeses and a variety of other breakfast items. This place does get crowded on weekend mornings. I was disappointed with my bagel as there was hardly any cream cheese on it. The bagels themselves are better than the one you get at Dunkin Donuts but nothing to rave about.

I’m always interested in a good bagel, but the service here made it impossible for me to take a second to determine if it was actually a good bagel. It is obvious this place is disinterested in obtaining new customers and maintaining their current customer base. We were yelled at that were in the wrong line — hello, there is no line! The signage and organization is completely dysfunctional.(If you are too lazy to pick out a bagel for your customer, perhaps you shouldn’t own a bagel shop.) Overall the breakfast sandwich I ordered was lacking in taste, though it could have been my frustration overwhelming my taste buds. But the sandwich WAS hot — like burning my fingers hot. We will never return again.

This place should be a case study in how not to set up your shop. The chaos you will need to endure in securing your food will certainly wipe out most of the gratification that comes with filling your empty stomach. Avoid at all costs.

I love a bagel joint that has table service. LOL So, despite the VERY confusing order situation — the bagels and service is pretty good. Can’t say that there is anything in particular that I should mention here — I just really liked the bagel. When you order your bagel. Step 1: Pick your bagel from the baskets on the left hand side. And, when I say pick — literally, get it with your hands. Step 2: Walk your bagel to the back of the store, get in line with all of the other confused people, and hopefully give your bagel to the staff in the back and ask for whatever you want on it, toast, schmear, taylor ham, cream cheese. Step 3: Wait in line to pay, and wait to be called — or sit at a table and have them serve you.

Java joes is a regular weekend breakfast pitstop. The bagels are GREAT and the prices aren’t more than you’d expect from any other bagel place. The only thing they could really improve on is where to direct people from the ordering to paying to waiting for your food. I’ve been cut in line a few times here so that may be something they might want to work on
