Very friendly staff. Is willing to ship finished art work home, for a price. Some members of our group felt hurried and felt like they need more guidance. We were set up as our group painting the same picture. Some people wanted more help. I could not get my painting to look like I wanted. 2 hours to paint and dry is a short time. That included a 20 minute break to eat a snack, we brought with us, and use the restroom. Some of our party breezed through while others needed more direction and explanation. The staff was friendly. It was an experience I might try again.

Let me state that I am not purchaser of fine art. I do like to look at them. Walking to this gallery I was ready for the looking. The area is not huge but big enough to move easily around in. There are plenty on the walls and more in bins. They also have jewelry pieces. The prices ranges are of all amounts. The lady behind the counter stated that they change at the beginning of the month and also have a reception where you can meet the artists. The also host classes.

Walking into a gallery can be intimidating. Esp. if you are one of the only ones in there and it’s a small space. The pressure to buy-not-browse can be a bit much, and when it comes to buying art, I like to put a little more thought into it than I do when, say, strolling the aisles of Hy-Vee deciding if I need stir fry seasoning or more Arthur Bryant’s BBQ sauce. I had walked past Got Art about a million times when I was a downtown LS resident, but had never ventured in(usually because my walks were often in early a.m./evening, after the hours that most downtown LS businesses are open. I finally ventured in today, while doing some Christmas shopping/browsing, even though I don’t live in LS anymore. The gallery isn’t huge, the artwork not overwhelmingly abundant, but it’s well-displayed and attractively arranged. The woman at the desk was helpful and friendly, non-pushy, but very informative about how long the current work would be showing, and informed us of the times that the gallery has receptions for new showings. I eyeballed quite a bit of lovely, locally themed work, including a large print on canvas of the ubiquitous Plaza lights that would bring a bit of warm-fuzziness into my apt. year-round if I find I can afford it after my Christmas-shopping-dented coffers are replenished. And, truly, the art is priced to buy for the casual purchaser… you don’t need to be a richie-rich or a collector to find something that will fit your budget. I’d like to go back for a reception, sometime. It’s comfy, accessible, non-snobby, and everything I saw was interesting. Thumbs up!
