Sisson’s is a cute little shop with a lot of nice sandwiches, pastries and goodies. Our group ordered 4 roast beef sandwiches to take on our kayaking trip and picked up a bag of cookies for dessert. Everything that we tried was fantastic! My favorite part was the bread that they used. It had some poppy seeds, salt and other grains on top that made it unique, and quite addicting! Their pastries also looked great, would definitely try those next time! They have some seats inside to enjoy your goods, but we took our food outside and walked around.

Everyone gets a friendly greeting. The service counter is pretty quick — allowing just enough time to sample some of the delicious home made or local treats(sauces, bites, dips, etc) They have nosh size 4″ sandwiches and 8″. I had the Greeky Turkey — the bread had a coating of salt which I brushed off but was tasty and fresh. They have coffee, chocolate covered cherries and other gourmet foods. I also had a honey stick for about a quarter as a treat!

The orange toast is great with coffee in the morning. The staff is friendly and there’s rarely a wait. If you want something on the sweeter side the cinnamon twists are excellent.

Wonderful service first of all! The people who work here are always willing to make at least a little conversation with you and are very helpful with any questions you have about their products. Their Buckeye Cookies are absolutely amazing and I always have to get some. The ginger molasses cookies are also quite good as are their cinnamon twists. My mom loves to get their luau beans and she says that they are some of the best baked beans she’s ever had.

I heard from a local that this place had as good of sandwiches as the Cheese Shanty. How could this be? I had to try it, even after just eating a Cheese Shanty sandwich. Their selection was very limited — essentially three real options, and one kind of bread. But the bread was a really good herb bread reminiscent of foccacia. The roast beef was great, and you could pick your condiments, like mayo and horseradish. I wish there were more options, and the rest of the store was meh. Just felt like a mishmash of an average assortment of average things. For my sandwich, I would come here if the Cheese Shanty lines were too long, but otherwise there’s not much here for me to go back to. Certainly worth checking out if you’re in the area, though. Make your own impression :)

Sissons is a gem that should not be missed. If you’re anywhere in the Traverse City or Leelanau area, this makes a trip into Leland well worth it. Everything is made every morning, from unbelievable scones(moist and crumbly, not hard and crunchy), pastries, cinnamon roles, and a variety of breads. Their sandwiches are made on homemade herb bread. The chocolate cookies are literally the best I’ve ever had. They also make stuff like pot pies, all from scratch. Just came back from a trip in Leland and already miss getting their food. Luckily, they mail order almost everything!

This is a great place for a good cup of coffee and a muffin or pastry for breakfast. Their Morning Glory muffins are the world’s best! They have a good selection of made to order and packaged to go sandwiches and lunch items too. However, the real story here is there delicious range of custom-made pâté’s, spreads, dressings, sauces and take-out meals. The Sissons made the Leelanau Country Inn famous and now are the choice for no-fuss delicious«home made» family dinners after a day on the lake or visiting the wineries.
