Nothing better than a good barber shop. John’s is a perfect example of that. I have had about a dozen cuts here from all three guys and all of them have been great. The weekends can be a bit busy so plan to wait around. They often offer coffee and have ESPN on the TV. A bit of a wait for a good cut for $ 16 is well worth it.

I haven’t been to John’s Barber Shop in a while because I live in Los Angeles now, but I started getting my haircut here in probably around the time I was born in 1977. It’s still my gold standard in barber shops (I HAVE had my haircut there in the last 5 years). Part of that is probably nostalgia, sure, but it’s a great spot in downtown Lee’s Summit that feels classic but not old. Everyone’s always warm and friendly whether it’s John, Jim, John’s son who’s name escapes me, or whoever. Also, you get a good haircut. My best advice is to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds and I believe it’s cash only.
