I love Pei Wei and this location is the closest one to my house, unfortunately the food is consistently bad and tonight is was terrible. The pork egg rolls were soggy and all of the honey seared chicken was sub standard even the rice was mushy. I hope someone from Pei Wei reads this review and does something to improve this location!

I eat at the Leesburg location about 2 times per month. I literally just left the restaurant with a carry-out of mongolian beef and it is the worst I’ve ever had. I will not be coming back anymore. Take me OFF the«Pei Wei Rewards Program».

If you’re not familiar with Pei Wei, it’s a fast-casual Chinese food chain owned by PF Chang’s(an upscale sit down Chinese food chain). This location is generally ok. They’re pretty consistently what you’d expect from a PF Chang’s, but they seem to mess up orders more often than I’d expect. That being said, they’re generally pretty quick to fix the mistake if you let them know.

We eat at Pei Wei every three to four months but today’s visit will probably be the last. The cashier/order taker was a sourpuss. The drink machine had a huge, nasty slime dripping from the nozzle and when my husband wiped it off with a napkin, it was black and red. Disgusting! It’s obvious that they are not cleaning the machine throughly and/or frequently. During our last few visits the food was just not as good as it used to be. Tonight my chicken lettuce wraps were missing the dipping sauce and rice sticks. The fortune cookies were stale and chewy. We had to stop at McDonald’s on the way home because my husband and son were so disappointed with their meals.

This restaurant has gone downhill since it opened. I do visit because I like the variety of food and it’s convenient. But it is now inconsistent and not clean – big torn seat for months, sticky floors, window sills dirty, trash on bathroom floor, etc. It also sometimes take a long time –and prepare to eat at a different time than your partner: the last few times, one of us gets our meal within about ten minutes and the other hasn’t come after 20 minutes. They don’t show any awareness that it’s weird for one person to eat first and finish before the other person’s meal comes, they just plop it down. When the food is good, it’s good. But we have started getting not good rice and sometimes cold entrees, much smaller portions than they used to offer and other issues. When they first opened, the beef and all of the dishes were so good I couldn’t make up my mind. But pretty soon I tried the beef and it was so grisly I couldn’t eat it and it had a twinge-y taste so I now avoid the beef. It’s as if they started buying cheaper cuts. We recently went and after about 10 minutes they came and said sorry, there was no wonton soup after all, would we like something else? So we said hot and sour soup. They said none of that, either, we’re out. There was no ice in the soda machine. If you ask for a Vietnamese chicken roll between 11a-noon they usually say they aren’t ready and have to spend extra time wrapping them. We tried lettuce wraps recently and they were ok but the lettuce was brown on the edges(takes a lot to make iceberg lettuce brown… how old?) I don’t know if they are understaffed and there’s too much to do or if they aren’t well trained but they kind of just act like they don’t care. Why do I go back? Like I said, there’s good variety… and when the food is good, it’s good. I like honey seared chicken, crab won tons, soup(when they have it.). I would like to see somebody come in and step it up and revive it.

Food was great but the service was awful. I ordered appetizers but they brought them after my entrée. The server had the audacity to be upset after I told her I didn’t want them again. Well what are appetizers? Did I miss something? Tables were dirty while a server sat on the bar chairs playing on his phone. I won’t return to this establishment again.

This place has gone from bad to worse — the place is often dirty, the orders are consistently messed up, the main course arrives before the starters and the people who work there are untrained and don’t seem to care about the customers! We’re done with this one and won’t be going back any time soon. Update: We sent back couple more times and the bad service continues…

My husband and I visited there yesterday. We were one of their first customers of the day. It was my first visit. The food was ok, but it was the cleanliness of the restaurant that bothered me. Every table we went to along the windows was dirty. It was as though someone had taken a damp rag and wiped them, getting only the superficial stuff but leaving the sticky stuff underneath. We chose the cleanest we could find, then I got a lemon and wet napkins to wipe it down. I am no neat freak, but my husband is funny about clean dishes and utensils at restaurants. I was hungry and just wanted lunch. I tried to find the manager to tell him that the tables needed cleaning and that the back area where you find the drinks and napkins also needed a good Clorox cleanup and a wipe down, but did not find him or anyone other than the busy cashier and a person cooking. Otherwise, the service was good and the food ok, not as spicy hot as I expected, though. I will give them one more chance in the future and just hope I caught them on a bad day.

Used to be a great clean restaurant to eat at. Very disappointed in quality and taste of food today along with the fact that all of the tables were wiped but sticky with a film on them. Overall not a good experience, and will not be returning.

I love pei wei, but this one has gone down hill. If you want to try their delicious crab wontons, don’t come in an hour before they close — they wont have them. Do you enjoy getting a consistent amount of food each time you order? Then don’t order an original sized entrée. Do you want there to be staff behind the counter when you come in for lunch? Don’t get your hopes up, you’ll usually have to wait a few minutes for someone to approach you from the other side of the restaurant. After you order your food to go, do you enjoy seeing it sitting on the counter, waiting to be bagged and handed to you, but there is no employee around to do so? Then don’t come here. I usually order honey seared shrimp, or mongolian steak, today I had the worst meal I’ve had from them since I began eating here(the Mongolian steak). It lacked the flavor it usually has, portion was significantly smaller than i’m used to, meat was chewy, and they mistakenly laid all of the meat and sauce directly over the rice(It is usually separated) which made the rice saturated in Mongolian sauce. I order from here about once every 2 weeks, but another experience like this and I wont be returning for a while. I really hope they can get their sh*t together because the food really is good when its prepared properly.

My husband has been wanting to try this place for several years. Often suggesting it when we passed by the one in Fair Lakes, by Whole Foods. I never interested. It just never seemed appealing. The other week we happened to be passing through Leesburg and were starving. The first restaurant we wanted was closed(it was a Sunday), the second was packed when we arrived and we didn’t want to wait, so… we decided to finally try Pei Wei. Gentlemen, listen to your wives. They are usually right. This place was a bust. Neither of us left happy with this meal choice. We both disliked the cafeteria type feel of the place. One of those places where you scramble to read an odd menu layout and ordering style before you reach the order counter where you feel rushed and expected to know the system and lingo. Then you get your own drinks & silverware at a station and find a table. Place your table # marker and wait. We got the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps as an appetizer. He got the Thai Dynamite Chicken entrée. I got the Dan Dan Chicken entrée and we both asked for a Vegetable Spring Roll with our meal. First two entrees came to our table and were left. We had to call back the server because this was not our food. They took the food on to the right people without even asking if we’d touched or eaten a bite from it. Ew. Should have checked before they plopped it down before the next people. Our wraps came out quickly enough and were tasty enough, but total mess to eat. There was just the one shared plate. No individual appetizer plates. Normally we don’t use those anyway but in this case they were needed. Not a fan of using iceberg lettuce for wraps. It splits not wraps, falls apart. That plus a wet style filling made for a juicy mess. Not having individual plates that mess was all over our hands and the table. Which we then had to wipe up or pass the appetizer plate back and forth. Next our rolls came out. One one shared plate like another appetizer. Which is odd as it was supposed to be with our meals. The rolls were very bland, the sauce that came with just tasted like mustard. Didn’t care for these but at least they weren’t dripping everywhere when we ate them. Next our entrees came. Let me pause to note these are small diner style tables and we were in the smallest, 2 person, type of these. They wedged the entrée plates on our already crowded table(2 app plates, drinks, salt/pepper, silverware, napkins, etc). The server made no offer to clear away existing plates either when the rolls came or now. We had to ask for them to take the empty plates away to make room. The food was just meh. Not bad, but not good. Too sweet for my taste. None of the dishes had much flavor and what little flavor there was was not authentic to the cuisine. What it taste most like was the Lean Cuisine frozen dinner knock-off version of the real dish. Yes, I know they make it to order. What is the point of going to that effort when it still tastes liken frozen bargain food? Sorry. We won’t be back.

Fried rice was soggy and lacked that char wok fried flavor. I told the kitchen manager but he said they ran out of the usual sauce and had to improvise. I didn’t know there was a sauce to fried rice? Food brought out with a somewhat sloppy haphazard appearance. On the positive, strangely there’s a caramel style which was really good. I really liked the accompanying julienned carrots and cukes. The sesame was tasty as well.

This place has gone downhill in the last 5 years. It opened right about the time we moved to Leesburg and the place was packed to the rafters every night. Yes, it’s a chain, but the food was fresh and cooked to order, no matter your taste, you could find something to like on their menu. It really seems to have taken a big dive in attention to detail though in the last year or so. We went last week and there were only two other tables in the restaurant. The place was filthy, there were no less than 5 cooks in the kitchen(for a total of 6 customers) and no one cleaning up the tables. There was spilled food all over the floor and half the tables were dirty from previous customers, we had to look for a clean place to sit. There were two people who I guess were supposed to be the table servers/bussers but they were occupying themselves by restocking hot sauce pots, straw caddies and other items at the drink station, none of which were empty. There was a manager who had his back to the dining room the whole time talking to the cooks. My food was still good(ginger broccoli beef), ingredients are still fresh and well-prepared, however, my husband’s was not. He got the salad with the Pei Wei spicy chicken. They absolutely drowned the salad in dressing, it really was kind of gross. He scraped aside the lettuce to show me and there had to have been ¾ of an inch of dressing in the bowl. Avoid the salad, take a sanitizer wipe to clean your own table or get your food to go.

One of my fall back places to eat in town. Sometimes it is crowed put overall it is good food, fairly fast and made the same every time(you don’t have to worry about who is cooking) Some of the places that are rated higher in town definitely do not deserve it.

Waited at the cash register for over five minutes while four workers walked back and forth past us without greeting us or saying they would be right with us. They made eye contact but never said a word. The restaurant was not busy and only a few tables were occupied.

A group of us stopped in here for lunch after a mommy and me yoga class. It was probably a bit optimistic of us to bring in four strollers — and, boy, did we pay for it during the lunch rush!(If you were there, I’m sorry!) There is not a lot of extra room, even for maneuvering, inside this Pei Wei. You order at the counter and wait for your food. It’s a bit frustrating when a group orders separately and you’re all waiting for the last person at your table to get their food while yours gets cold. But, to be fair, Pei Wei doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. I was a bit concerned about eating lunch here because I’m trying to eat better. I thought it would be a lot of fried rice and deep breaded chicken with sweet and sour sauce. I was pleasantly surprised with several healthy options, including some delicious spring rolls and a few salads that were popular with our group. While the lunch rush was a little nuts, the dining room is crowded, and service took longer than I would have liked… the food was tasty. I’d come back, but I’d probably do take-out.

The Pei Wei in Leesburg has excellent service. Yes the food is not authentic, but who would expect that in a place that says to have dishes from just about every Asian country you can think of? Neither do Chinese restaurants have actual Chinese food, but they can still be good. The new manager is very friendly, and most of the people who take your order are also great, although you can get the occasional dud.(Very rare, as the manager really emphasizes great service) There are some items on the menu that are no more inspired than what you’d get at any other non-authentic Asian restaurant. But a few things really shine. The Lettuce Wraps(all three varieties) are all great. The Vietnamese Chicken Salad Rolls are also excellent. Wonton soup is good, if an unusual interpretation. Basically, it is a much better value than P.F. Chang’s and is great for eating in, or pick up to carry out.
