This place is excellent. I wish they were open later and I’m really happy they got with it and now take credit cards! I have never had anything bad at this place! It is definitely small, definitely mom and pop. Huevos Rancheros, Chicken Fried Steak and the blue crab omelette are my favorite things to get here. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a stop in.

Breakfast here reminds me of my small town childhood breakfast diner. Genuinely friendly staff, hearty wholesome delicious food, great atmosphere that reminds me of home,(small town Wisconsin). I come here as often as four times a month with my family. We live only five minutes down the street. Always check the chalkboard for specials!

Wow! Wasn’t expecting this little hidden jewel with a modern menu twist and old diner ambiance in the heart of Lemon Grove! Great food and friendly waitresses! Say Hi to Cook Kerry she made an awesome breakfast ‘Huevos Rancheros!”

Very disappointed. I can’t comment on the quality of the food, which I’ve heard is good, because they never brought my order. The place was packed, so I assume the food is as good as I’ve heard it is. After waiting 10 minutes for a menu, I waited another 15 for my order(a Denver omelet). I asked the server at the next table if she could check on my order, since that table who arrived and ordered after I did got their food. Another 10 minutes and I left with without receiving my food. Whatever went wrong, I hope they figure it out and fix it. Glad I didn’t spend any money.

This review is for breakfast only. Been here a few times now for breakfast and Blue Wisk food has been solid each time. A very small joint on Broadway that’s big on flavor! WHENYOUGO– Huevos Rancheros and Chicken Fried Steak have been my go-tos here. I had the pancakes once and they were fairly standard. One day there will be an omelets special that will intrigue me I’m sure. Sit at the counter for the best service. the place is so small that there’s not a lot of service in the booths(no coffee top off on my last visit, but in their defense, we got the last seats in the place). When I say small, Juan R and I could fill the place up with just us!

Great little family owned place. We went for breakfast and it was great but the lunch menu looked even better. Very clean and the waitress Janet was very good and friendly. Definitely give it a try if you’re in the area !!

This is the real deal! A real old fashioned diner! I met some friends there on Saturday and had to bring my family there Sunday. I will be back there again soon to try other things on their menu. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. A friend of mine who is a chicken fried steak aficionado, rates this as the best in San Diego. I loved the thin sliced crunchy potatoes and the coffee just kept coming. Excellent service! It is small and charming. it would make a wonderful first date. Everyone is so friendly. You need to put this on your list of little places to frequent.

This place was so cute. Just like a 50’s diner. The service was very friendly and fast. Even the food was good.

Finally tried this place after hearing and reading so much about it and it did not disappoint. We came for lunch on a Friday and it was busy but we were able to be seated right away. I can’t imagine this diner on a weekend morning, with such limited seating; it must be a mad house. The food was great, even if the service seemed off. My Reuben was just the right amount of toasty and filled with flavorful corned beef and melted cheese. The club sandwich was huge and the fruit tasted very fresh and sweet. Fish and chips and tator tots were not over fried or mushy as seems to happen at many cafes/diners. I found everything well-seasoned, from the batter on the fish to the clam chowder. I am definitely coming back for breakfast soon. And I need that fried chicken on Tuesdays! I think I have a new place.

This review is like a hacked ashley madison website list. Its a dirty secret just waiting to be revealed. The food here is excellent and what’s great is only the locals really know about it! Its a small diner that serves some of the best breakfast food I’ve had. I always get the chefs special, what ever that is and leave satisfied. The chef worked in the white house and it shows. I think I had the best eggs benedict(it was a chef special) here… ever. Whatever the case I debated not putting this review up because it’s tiny and really good but what makes up for it, is real community members of lemon grove who frequent it and who’ll strike up a chat. When you have that right mix of food and people, I’m a pushover for a five star. Shh!!! don’t tell too many people about this place. Its my dirty lil secret. :) Tip: parking can be scarce. There is ample parking in the back. Chef made the san diego reader and there are pictures of him there with the presidents he’s cooked for.

The server was excellent as she kept our coffee cups full. The food was unremarkable… I was expecting more on the flavor scale. The grits and the eggs were good, just not what I was expecting. To be fair I am defiantly going back to give them an opportunity to up my 3 plates rating. I’ve read many good reviews and will hold off ’til I try them again.

Had me a delicious summer salad yesterday. I think Chef John has a secret menu… Seasonal grilled steelhead trout salad on a bed of greens. Mnnnnn,

One of the best diners in all of Lemon Grove! Delicious, handmade/homemade breakfast, lunch n’ burgers. (Mom n’ pop style feel, amiable & social customers n’ employees!)

San Diego County is an area full of little neighborhoods chucked full of great little restaurants. The Bleu Whisk Diner tops the list as a true gem in Lemon Grove. The transition from The Food Factory to the Bleu Whisk Diner is complete. The chef’s special’s are nice twists on old favorites. His Pusole Soup, with it subtle flavors, is the best I have tasted. For breakfast — the pancakes or stuffed french toast is worth the drive. It is nice to interact with the new service staff who are friendly, energetic and have engaging humor with the chef and regulars. There are other local hangouts I visit when I am in town on business or pleasure. However, the Bleu Whisk Diner is certainly one of my first choices.

From the door we enjoyed the family-friendly atmosphere. It was fun to watch as The employees maneuvered in sync flawlessly. Our breakfast was superb and cooked just right especially the crab omelette special. Surprisingly The grits and biscuits we’re perfect. This place could be five star if it had only just a little more room but the food is 5 star! I recommend % for you to eat at this diner!

Walking in to this diner I immediately felt at home. The waitress was friendly, took our order right away. The place is kind of small. I ordered the eggs Benedict and they were delicious! The best I’ve ever had. Will definitely be coming back to this place

Small, quaint old school diner serving breakfast & lunch. They close at 2 which is a bummer for me because I usually can’t get free for lunch until after 1:30. The short order cook apparently has an impressive background in the culinary field & the dishes I’ve had show a subtle nod to his skill & knowledge. The sand dabs(served on Wednesdays) were nicely seasoned & sauteed. They were cooked just right with no hint of dried out fish throughout. Service has always been good, prompt & friendly. I would have liked to have given this place a 4 star rating, but the last time I was there, there was a young child who was screaming & being a nuisance. I actually moved a couple booths away once he started in. After a while I realized this was a child of someone who worked at the diner. Now I have no problems with parents having to bring their child to work, as long as they behave and are not disruptive or a distraction. The parent came out a couple times to quiet the child down, but it was only temporary. The situation may not have been the norm & maybe their was no babysitter for that day, but it did put a damper on enjoying my meal.

Been living in Lemon Grove for almost 10 years and before I saw a posting in the local reader I never knew this place even existed. It seems the new owners bought the place last year and renamed it to Bleu Whisk. I’ve been here almost 6 – 8 times the past month and I’ve always enjoyed the food. The service is sometimes a little lacking due to the fact they are always busy busy busy. I’ve only tried the lunch as the first time I came for breakfast it was closed, and he second time the place was PACKED on a Saturday morning around 9am. The owner and his wife are always amazing. The other lady they have there is kinda… meh. She has her days. The rest of the staff are always very attentive and welcoming. We’ve had the following: California steak sandwich — What more can you ask for then steak, cheese, grilled onions, avocado, and bread? Yep this is their staple for me. Every time I order one they are on point(except the last time it had a bunch of nerves in it). Club sandwich — Was amazing! The bread was nice and toasted and the ingredients were all fresh! Turkey sandwich — Was also amazing! Vegetable and meat soup — Wasn’t that great, needed some flavor or salt or something. Just wasn’t what we were expecting. Blueberry/Apple Pie — I’ve never had the two together, but the pie here is pretty good. The Chef’s wife makes it herself. She’s always a pleasure to be around(brownie points for her remembering my name). The biggest drawback here for me, is the CASHONLY part of the establishment. I mean common now, it’s 2015, cash is slowly going away here in the US. Get yourself a credit card system! I almost docked 2 points off, because I had to go all the way to 7 – 11 to pull some cash out. Tsk tsk Bleu whisk! Place is a little packed and crowded, so beware. All in all this place is my go-to place for sandwiches in lemon grove. Welcome new owners!

We were looking for someplace new to try and we live in the College Area so we thought we’d give this a try. We were lucky to find parking right out front(that can be a challenge). We had the pancakes with a side of bacon and the huevos rancheros. Both were amazing. We sat at the counter so we could see them making everything right in front of us. The staff was friendly and seemed to know everyone in the place. They treated us like regulars even though it was our first time. If you’re looking for authentic diner food, this is a great place for breakfast or brunch. One note — cash only!

If you enjoy good wholesome diner food, this place should meet your needs. I stopped in for breakfast and noticed they had a special board and immediately noticed a pork chorizo omelet, so I went ahead and ordered it. The omelet, at $ 8.95, also came with freshly prepared pinto beans served over thinly sliced house potatoes and three corn or flour tortillas( ). The omelet was interesting, in that the chorizo was not mixed in with the eggs, s done traditionally, but rather stuffed into the omelet and topped with the Oaxacan cheese( ). Don’t get me wrong I certainly liked it, bit it was just out of the norm. I can see how a chorizo connoisseur would like it given the flavor of the pork chorizo was like a punch in the face, in a very good way of course. The egg was cooked well and lightly seasoned, however I would of like of seen the cheese inside with the melted inside the omelet with the chorizo. That being said, I got my fork to work and chopped and mixed all the ingredients together( ) and then made me some chorizo and egg taco and dug in( ). The pinto beans were great and being served over the thinly sliced tender potatoes was bliss( ). The beans were cooked perfect to a tender touch, seasoned well, and had that very good robust flavor. A sprinkling of Cotija cheese on top would of been over the top. The thinly slice potatoes were a nice al dente with nice crispy ends( ). It was quite a treat eating the beans together with the potatoes. I tried their house salsa which was okay. I felt it needed less cumin and more fresh chile pepper flavor. Service was typical for a diner. It was friendly, but quick and matter to the fact. For $ 8.95, the omelet special was a good deal. Apparently, the omelet special change daily, and if you want to experience and old school diner experience, eat here…
