Alterations by Heidi

Completely and utterly rude. I called to get some information about selling my prom dress to Alterations by Heidi. Asked a few simple questions, got my answers but when I told her that I will probably be coming in this following week she hung up on me. Completely disrespectful.

I have known and used Hedi for tailoring services a few years now and she and her staff do excellent work! Recently, I had a favorite sports team jersey of mine altered to look like the real thing and Hedi NAILED it! I was thoroughly pleased.
For all you military members out there who are not near a post or base to have your alterations done, Hedi is well versed in military wear and appearance regulations and has done several uniforms for me in the past.
I can assure you that she will not do any altering until she fully understands what the customer needs/​wants.

Don’t look any further than Alternations by Heidi. I had invested in a long leather and fur coat and it is beautiful, but so, so dated that I quit wearing it.
My husband reminded me that Heidi does re-​styling and I took it in to her for an appraisal. After talking it over and listening to her suggestions, I decided to go ahead with the restyling. She quoted me a very fair price and set to work.
I am so, so glad I had the work done. Heidi not only shortened the coast but restyled the arms and took out the bulk, it looks great and I can hardly wait to wear my «new» coat.
Heidi also did some alterations on an evening dress that needed to be shortened and it improved the look immensely.
Heidi’s work is exceptional and she delivers on her promises. She is exceptional!

Heidi is AMAZING! I ordered a dress online and it didn’t fit. I took it in and she made it look even better than before and it fits perfectly! The price was reasonable and she got it done very quickly. She is a miracle worker! I definitely recommend her.

Heidi is A-​M-​A-​Z-​I-​N-​G! I got a steal of a deal on a $ 300 studded lamb leather jacket, but being a short girl, the sleeves were WAY too long. I called every tailor in the area trying to get the sleeves hemmed, but no one does leather, aside from Arrow, and their wait time is 4 – 6 weeks. I finally called Heidi, and was pleasantly surprised that such a small shop actually does complicated work like leather hemming. I brought the jacket in, and within seconds Heidi had figured out exactly where the sleeves needed to sit. She gave me the date it would be ready, which was about two and a half weeks away. But, when she sensed my dismay at how long it would be, she said «How about I just call you when it’s ready». I expected she’d call me in a couple of weeks, but instead it was ready a mere 5 days later! What a wonderful surprise!
I’m 5’2″ and pretty round, so clothes bought off the rack rarely ever fit. I will be returning to Heidi for all of my alterations!

I drive 20 miles to the best tailor in KC! She has consistently help my athletic build with gorilla arms look great — even improving upon the finest clothiers! Heidi even came over to open her studio (today) so I could grab my suit for my buddy’s wedding after missing a Friday pick up due to my son going into emergency surgery… not to mention she was closed due to the Labor Day holiday weekend!
Heidi understands a very modern cut that I desired after trimming down 40 lbs. She is always pleasant and understands the most discriminating customers taste for the perfect tailoring so that the material lays impeccably. Suits don’t make the man, the best tailoring does. She knows how to bring out good ol fashion American swagger! Thank you Heidi– you know ill be back.

Heidi did a great job altering a prom dress — it fits perfectly, it was finished when she said it was and the price was very reasonable. She also repaired some beading that was loose — a little extra to make the dress perfect. Thanks for a job well done Heidi! We will definitely be using Heidi for all our alteration needs.

So I’m new to using a tailor but I wanted to go ahead and give a review on here so people can hear my honest experience. I called Heidi after reading all the positive reviews online to see about getting a bridesmaids dress altered last minute. I lost a ton of weight right before my roommate’s wedding and needed to have the dress taken in about 10 days before the wedding. I took the dress to Heidi’s and was in and out of the fitting in less than 5 minutes. I can’t really tell you the price comparison as I’ve never been to another seamstress, but I wouldn’t say it was overly expensive considering the time constraints and the fact that the dress had a side zipper and would require more work. Heidi called me the next week and let me know that it was ready so I immediately ran down to grab the dress as I was leaving for the wedding the next day. My main concern was fit, and in that respect the dress was perfect. I thanked Heidi for her help and left with the dress, only to go home and notice there were quite a few areas which I think could have used some improvement (once again, though, given the time constraints I couldn’t take the dress back in.) The seams along the back of the dress (which she explained would have to be cut to take it in) were sewn back in crooked, to the point where you could really tell when looking at the dress from behind that something was majorly «off.» Enough so that another bridesmaid commented on it privately. There were also a few oil marks along the seam (I’m assuming from a sewing machine) that were also visible, though from far away it wasn’t too awful. So all in all I took my dress to Heidi last minute and she produced a dress that fit me well for my roommate’s wedding (which I guess is better than wearing a baggy dress in wedding pictures.) That being said would I go back? No. I was a little disappointed in the quality of the workmanship.

Heidi is great. My niece needed a skirt hemmed for NJROTC and I didn’t have time to get it done. She told me the day before it was needed. I called Heidi whom I have had do alterations in the past for me.
She was amazing and was able to get us in and get it done that day so my niece could have her uniform for drills the next morning.
Heidi is a life saver.

As a guy with a difficult athletic build, I’ve been going to Heidi for alterations on suits, shirts, and slacks for over 5 years (probably 20 articles in all), and she always does fantastic work at reasonable prices. Every other tailor I’ve patronized occasionally made mistakes and ruined a piece of clothing, but Heidi is so good I’m to the point now that I don’t even both trying something on when I pick it up after she’s made alterations. They just fit. Perfectly.

I’ve been to Heidi on occasion for various reasons and she always does a nice job. Her shop is in that older building in Old Town Lenexa and it gives me the feeling I’m really in a small town when I go in there. Something special right here in the big city!

I take all of my alterations to Heidi. She’s let out more pant legs than I can count (why is it so stinking hard to find long lengths?) and adjusted the fit of several formal dresses. She’s always friendly and welcoming. Professional work and fair prices.
