I will NEVER go back here. The food is crap. Not sure where folks are getting these 4 or 5 star ratings from. The chicken chunks are big blobs and the taste is not all the way through. The food seems to be left overs from their buffet meal. There are many other indian restaurants now in KC(some with worse service) but their food is tastier. The deco is old school. Need to liven it up. Quality of food really needs to improve. Service was alright.

This place probably has the best variety of Indian food among all Indian restaurants in the Kansas City area. The people who serve and cook are very humble and nice. I’ve not had any issues driving about 25 minutes from mid town Kansas City for a carry out order. The prices too are reasonable and in line. The ambiance is alright, although in line with other Indian restaurants. I would have made it a bit more flamboyant if I were in charge. :) Nevertheless, it’s my 1st preference for a carry out order in the Kansas City area.

Long story short, I ordered butter chicken and it was full of bones and fat blobs. It was disgusting.

We will definitely come again. The restaurant was a bit on the warm side and the service was very slow. We are beginning to wonder if this is an Indian restaurant standard. It seemed to be understaffed and our waiter was working hard but I think it was wearing on his disposition… not the friendliest lot here. The food was good.

Very bad service. They close at 10 pm and but if you happen to come at 9 pm they will pressure you to order right away because their excuse is kitchen closes at 9 pm. Then change the damn timing to 9 pm instead of 10 pm

I want to love Flavor of India, I really do. It’s very local to our new house. We tried it for the 2nd time last night and it was very mediocre. My husband got Chicken Tikka Masala, hot. He loved it. I had Chicken Korma. My meat was tough and dry and I found some sort of stick in my food. Not cool. I’m soo glad I didn’t bite into the stick and eat it! We’ll probably be back because my husband had a better experience, but I’m pretty bummed by my last meal here.

I’ve been to this place several times now, for sitdown regular service, buffet service, and for takeout. Obviously that means I like it if I keep coming back! The food is tasty, fresh and hot. I’ve tried a variety of dishes, especially with help of the buffet(even if it isn’t the largest one in the world) and haven’t found anything I dislike. I’m not sure of the name, but I love these fried spinach balls they offer as an appetizer. Portion sizes are pretty large. The place has a nice casual feel with bollywood music videos playing on several TVs throughout the dining room. I also don’t feel uncomfortable bringing my child here as I’ve seen kids here quite a bit with other groups or one of the private groups in the back room. Which is quite nice being a new mom. The only time I’ve been disappointed was when we arrived to find the entire restaurant had been rented out for a private event and thus had to go elsewhere.

Was introduced to this lovely restaurant during my first or second visit to Shawnee. Now that I live here, I am there at least every other weekend. The food is always top notch. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

I absolutely love this place. I also love that a little known fact is they serve gluten free and vegan food. At first trying to find out if their soups/dhals, and dosas were gluten-free was hard. However, after I spoke with them and we walked through the ingredients, we were safe to eat. And guess what, no reactions over 3 years to this place. The food is so good, high quality, and flavorful. Love it!

Absolutely fantastic! I came here once for the lunch buffet and that was all it took, this will be a regular stop.

Best Indian I’ve had in Kansas City since moving here a year ago!!! I had the lunch buffet which was amazing !! Plenty of variety for the price & you even get mango lassi with your meal ! I do agree with somebody who mentioned in another review that They wished there was lamb on the buffet tho.

Ok right or wrong the way I judge an Indian restaurant is by whether or not they are showing Indian music videos. This place had three TVs showing Indian music videos. And they were crazy so I’m giving these guys four stars. By the way their buffet is average. I would have liked to seen lamb curry but like most places, they don’t put that out for buffet.

I’ve not experienced their buffet and have only been for dinner however both times I was very pleased with the food. I don’t have other experience with Indian food to compare it too so as a first time taster it was delicious. I absolutely love the tikka masala sauce on both chicken and extremely spicy shrimp(side note, be very careful if you ask for spicy, they aren’t playing around with that description). The tikka masala does great at cutting the spice. I gave a 4 however bc the atmosphere seems to lack. It is so uncomfortably quiet and the staff tends to stand around talking and not about customer service that’s apparent.

Everything about this place is two stars. It’s the very definition of «meh». They will sell you food, and since your body needs food to survive, I guess they serve an important function. But man, I cannot think of a restaurant I feel less passion for than Flavor of India. I’ve been here a couple of times for the buffet. It’s pretty limited, and nothing blew me away. I’m not the BIGGEST Indian buffet expert, but my visits to Taj Palace, Swagat or Korma Sutra have set me up for a certain level of expectations. This place didn’t meet them. The dining room is pretty uninspired as well. I get that it’s in a strip mall, but it’s like the most strip-mally strip-mall to ever strip-mall. And it was eerily quiet, with none of the other patrons really talking much or anything. It was like everybody would just shuffle in to get their necessary allotment of calories, never looking up from their plates, and then be on their way. If these are truly the flavors of India, I should thank them, for they’ve convinced me that I can just cross the entire subcontinent off of my travel wish-list, and that’s got to be worth thousands of dollars.

Indian buffet lover’s dream come true. The servers here are so nice and though buffets typically scare me, I have yet to find an issue here. I believe the lunch is $ 9.99. Don’t mind the bhangra music videos playing on every single TV around you; it adds to the ambience. =)))

As a militant urban core fan, it takes a lot for me to admit that I can get better food in the suburbs. It is even less likely that I’d load up the car and make the trek to have a meal there, but that’s exactly what I’ve done for Flavor of India. Twice. Once for dinner, my friends and I split some vegetarian options, all of which were exceptional. We had Bhindi Masala(okra), Channa Masala(chickpea), and Malai Kofta(veggie dumplings). Of those, the dumplings were the most memorable, but all three dishes were very flavorful and delicious. All of this was sopped up by some of the best garlic naan I’ve ever eaten. We loved it so much, we returned several days later for the lunch buffet, which was delicious but didn’t deliver the amazing flavors we’d found at dinner. The veggie options were a bit more limited, and I found myself dreaming of the dishes we had at dinner. Sure, a buffet affords you the opportunity to try a variety of things, but I’d definitely recommend doing what we did. Bring some friends, order a few things to share, and enjoy them fresh out of the kitchen at dinner. The lunch buffet just didn’t do the food justice. Oh, and let me know if you want to carpool, urbanites — because it is worth the trip.

Came here last Saturday night and probably because we were early, there was not much of a crowd. We ordered the kadai chicken, dal makhni and aloo paratha. Though the dal was good, the chicken was pretty average. I found it a little too bland for my liking inspite of requesting a spicier version. The alooparatha was good as was the chai ordered to finish off the meal. Overall it was good though not great.

The Flavor of India is not my go-to Indian restaurant, it’s still a solid option. I have not tried their buffet, but I have dined here a handful of times. The chicken korma is a favorite, it is flavorful and rich, and the garlic naan is always good. Last time I was there we tried the Indian chicken wings which I would pass on next time. One thing that is slightly disappointing is that they do not offer meat(lamb or chicken) samosas, only vegetable. Perhaps you can ask for them, but they are not on the menu. Overall though, a good option to tame your Indian food cravings.

Comments from my visit July 2012. So far from selections I like India palace more this place only has Chicken items and mostly plain Vinadloo was spicy. Gobi was like a potato curry mixture thing, not too bad. The usual naan was yummy and Tikka Masala an indian cuisine must. I didn’t try the tandoori chicken for fear it may be too dry to eat. Veggie Korma usual flavorful. Lennon rice, and plain rice options. Spicy red sauce $ 9.74 after Tax for lunch buffet, good price for a quick bite between class.

After another meal here, I’m confident saying this is definitely the best Indian I’ve had in JoCo. I haven’t tried every place, sure, but of the many I have tried… this is my favorite. On a hot Monday night, my fiancé and I were in the area and decided to try some Indian. Knowing this place was nearby, and my previous good experience with carryout, we decided to swing by early — about 5:15pm, just after they opened for the evening. In fact, we had the entire place to ourselves for the whole 40 minute meal… nobody even stopped in to pick up carryout! We ordered a few things and split it — Aloo Tikki(potato cakes of sorts), Chicken Manglorian for the main(chicken in a coconut sauce), and of course some naan. All of it was fantastic — rich, flavorful, and filling. Our waters were constantly kept full by the friendly server as well. While I prefer carryout in general(because I love eating in my own home), the truth is simple — I will drive a bit further from my house on 116th up to 87th to get Flavor of India. It’s delicious.
