Since moving to the Berkshires, I have not had an easy time of it finding a great haircutter. I was getting ready to drive up to Albany when a friend recommended Peter Alvarez in Lenox. What a relief! I was greeted, my coat taken to hang up and given a lovely beverage. Peter is a peach, easy to talk and understood the problems with curly hair and getting a decent cut. et voila! I left with a great haircut! My friend commented that I looked younger (always a good thing!) and my hair falls into shape each morning, which to me is the sign that it was cut well. There are several haircutters and prices range depending on which one does your hair. The salon itself is quite warm and charming.

The décor is chic, a nice place to wait (and you will wait if you book on the weekend). Receptionist is friendly, perhaps too friendly as I found I waited 2 weeks to get an appointment and then they took a series of walk-​ins, which delayed my cut and color by 90 minutes! Do not use the website to book an appointment (which is a service they offer, but not really as no one write you back to schedule an appointment!). Staff badmouth other customers while you wait. Stylists are better than most in the area, but customer service is lacking.
