Discovery Home Inspection

As with Anna, many contractors let us know that he should have known that there was more trouble lurking under a «little» water damage. I was very concerned about mold since I smelled it and had a mold contingency. We now have a home we over paid for that had to be gutted down to the studs and even the ceiling was loaded with mold. He let us know he was sorry, but in the meantime, we have NO legal recourse and we are living a nightmare since we cannot afford to fix the house yet since it will cost over 170,000! After paying 310,000 for the property in a bidding war. Buyers beware… if you feel there is a problem, look deeper before you spend your hard earned money.

I had the a home inspection with Discovery home inspection. I really thought the inspector is quite good.
However some water damage is obvious from contractors’ point of view. Even those places were covered up however an inspector should have been able to find out the rot wood through the small gap and water stain. Those issues were missed out from the report. Now I have to spend thousand dollars to fix them.
Gain your own knowledge and make better judgment by yourself is crucial for a home purchase.

Let me start by saying we are VERY HAPPY we chose Discovery Home Inspection to inspect a home we are purchasing.
I HIGLY RECOMMEND Discovery Home Inspection. Their price is VERY reasonable. Bill, the owner inspected the property. I cannot stress enough how very thorough, professional and very friendly Bill was.
As a first time home buyer we don’t know a lot of the things to look out for except of course the basic things that mostly everyone knows like crack walls, water working, heat, etc.
The best part was that we received the inspection report in 24 hours. His report was awesome and detailed with pictures. Even our realtor requested for his card (assuming she will start referring him too).

Bill was great. Showed up on time and more importantly did a great job uncovering lots of things I would have missed.
One thing I need to commend him on is customer service. Once the home inspection was complete we were in a rush to negotiate a final purchase price. Bill remained incredibly responsive even after the inspection was complete and he had been paid.

Not only that, but he was able to provide us with an extremely detailed report of his findings with pictures and suggestions the same day as well. He arrived early and spent over 2 hours on the property making sure to inspect every last inch from the roof down to the basement.

Bill was very thorough and completely honest throughout the entire home inspection. He is extremely knowledgeable and took the time to educate us as we went through the entire process. He did not rush through the inspection and even made sure the other inspector on site was properly investigating the well. He arrived on time and was very professional. If you’re searching for an extremely knowledgeable, very detailed oriented, and easy to work with home inspector; do not look any further than Discovery Home Inspection.
Bill arrived early to our appointment and was already up on the roof walking around taking pictures and making notes all in the middle of a rainstorm! As soon as I arrived he was off the roof showing me pictures of problem areas and explaining in great detail what he found and what kind of repairs would need to take place.
I was incredibly impressed with his attention to every detail during the home inspection, he spent extra time on analyzing major problems leaving no stone unturned. He is very knowledgeable about home systems and construction and just a very sharp guy, a real cut above the rest. You can instantly tell he is a true professional and takes great pride in what he does.
Whenever Bill explains something, he explains it in clear and understandable terms and he had no issues answering all of my questions. He was very welcoming to call him at anytime if we had any other questions after the inspection. The multi-​page electronic report he emailed to me was second to none. I’ve been looking for a house, and two were good enough to warrant an inspection. While attending the Massachusetts First Time Homebuyer’s class, I learned about the importance of having a home inspection done, and of ASHI, the American Society of Home Inspectors. In order to become a member you must pass several tests. It is not a simple thing to become an ASHI member. Bill should teach classes there.
In any event, in more or less cold-​calling inspectors, I happened to call Bill. The first house I was looking at purchasing was an old farm house build in 1830, and when I started to talk to him about it, it became very clear in a short period of time that this guy knows his stuff REALLY well.
This turned out to be true beyond measure as the level of detail he pulled from that old house as to what was wrong with it, what was right with it, what it needed, things he was able to surmise from other things (I will point out that he never stated these extrapolated bits of information as fact, just the likelihood of their veracity based on x, y, and z) was beyond anything I might have imagined or expected. The man is good at his job.
I then of course had him back to inspect the house which it looks as if I will be buying after all (the first I could not based upon all the valuable data Bill extracted from its old walls) and was again overwhelmed with the level of detail.
Bill is a fantastic inspector, I think he has a gift for evaluating a house. It’s not just me who thinks this, but seasoned realtors, both realtors agreed they had never experienced such a thorough and detailed inspection. Don’t be offput if he says he will only take 2 – 3 hours, and happens to charge less than others. He will charge less (Bill, you could and probably should charge more!), but for both houses I had him inspect he took well past 4 hours.
In sum, you will be hard-​pressed to find a better inspector.

Friendly, thorough, knowledgeable and affordable to boot! William arrived early, and encouraged us to follow along with him as he explained in detail everything that he was looking for. No space was too small or too tall, he climbed his way up or into every nook and cranny of the house, taking up close photos and detailed notes of everything that he observed. He stayed on site with us to discuss his findings and answered every single question that we could think of, and we had a lot of questions! He provided us with a very through written report on the same day, which included photographs of each of the items that he inspected. Even our realtor was impressed with the quality of his work! He also followed up the following week, just to check in with us and see if we had any additional questions.
