Great service and very knowledgeable staff. They also have a great selection of accessories. I purchased 3 bikes for my kids. They were extremely helpful in finding the perfect bikes without breaking the bank. The staff were very interested in helping us find the right bikes without trying to push the more expensive models. I highly recommend this place.

If you need a new bike or repair on a bike you currently own I will tell you to get yourself to Gear Works Cyclery in Leominster. The sales staff is absolutely amazing and will do their utmost to make certain you LOVE whatever bike you end up purchasing and that it fits you perfectly. Kudos to the owner Gene who goes above and beyond. Their mechanics are also top notch. You just don’t find this kind of personal attention to sales and service these days and I’m lucky I did and so should you!

I have purchased 3 bikes in my life from Gear Works and have had all 3 serviced there when necessary. They do a really great job of finding the bike that suits your wants/​needs and laying out good options if you need to make a custom online order through them. I have never felt as if there was any sales pressure weighing down on me while looking around the store. I will provide one criticism rooting from a recent experience with them — I purchased a new hardtail MTB from them and wasn’t really given a thorough ‘walk-​thru’ after leaving the shop with the bike in hand. Specifically, I was given zero to little guidance on bike maintenance, cleaning, and introductory use that is required of MTB riders (bedding in disc brakes, which parts to lubricate, how important it is NOT TO TOUCH the brake rotors with bare hands, etc). Yes, I ended up finding out most of these things via the internet, but it would have made me feel much more confident about my purchase and future experiences if they would have had a more thorough walk-​thru with me before departing the store. Sometimes in-​person guidance just works a little better. However — they know their stuff top to bottom and I think they could have better procedures on seeing that a paying customer will continue to have a great riding experience after leaving the shop.

Huge thanks to Gene and his team at Gear Works. I was in town for a couple of days and Gene hooked me up in a big way, allowing me to stick to my training and get a few great rides in while visiting family. I was treated like a regular even though I live 3000+ miles away and I’m only in the area once a year. Great customer service and and all around great shop. The LBS’s in my area could learn a few things from Gene an the team at Gear Works. Thanks guys!

This shop would get zero stars if it weren’t for their group rides, which go out during the week & on the weekend. Those are excellent (4 – 5 stars), & I would encourage a cyclist of any level to check the appropriate one out (they vary according to speed/​skill.) I prefer to keep my interactions with Gear Works to group rides.
But sometimes I need something. Usually, it’s little things: a pair of gloves, tubes, water bottles — things that require little to no interaction with sales staff, which I prefer. However, in the unlikely & unfortunate event that I need something that requires assistance — in today’s case, a helmet (previous instances: special-​order bike lock, bike repair/​tune, special-​order jersey) — I’m better off flying out to Morgan Hill to Specialized & picking one up directly from them before anyone at Gear Works even makes eye contact. It’s almost comical, the amount of effort the staff puts into looking at everything but you before you manage to get their attention. & when they do notice you, chances are they won’t have enough knowledge to really help you. I don’t always like knowing that I know more about the product than the staff trying to sell it, but compared to Gear Works employees, I’m a genius. I can’t imagine what a hassle trying to get fitted for a bike by someone here would be — hopefully they have knowledgable folks hidden away for such jobs. Go somewhere else if you need any sort of advice on your purchase.
Also, some of the customers that come here are missing a few screws, too: if you can’t even handle yourself & your bike in the parking lot, you are probably a menace on the road. Maybe just stick to riding in your driveway.
But there is a old chocolate lab that shuffles around the place — he’s cute & worth some points.

I’ve known about this place for a while now but never really had a reason to do much shopping there until about the beginning of 2010 when I was looking for some bike stuff.
One thing I love about this shop is that they really take the time to figure out what you need by asking all of the right questions, and from what I’ve seen, they don’t treat customers like idiots if they’re not sure about what they’re getting. At one time or another I’ve dealt with pretty much every person who works there and I have absolutely zero complaints about the customer service. I love finding shops like this (and not just for bikes) where you want to keep coming back. I’ve referred a few friends there and I’ve purchased at least 1 bike there, and am planning on another one soon. The bike purchase I made was great because they did a complete fitting and adjusting for my bike, and made sure that everything was awesome on it before I walked out of the store.
If you’re looking for a great shop for any level of rider, check this place out – it’s definitely worth the trip.
For the new riders, talk to any of the sales people for demo bikes that may be available so you can try out a bike for a day or two without dropping the cash first.
For the more advanced riders, look out for the shop rides that go on throughout the week and weekend.
