I made my first adventure to Treworgy Family Orchards with my husband, who has never been apple picking before! I told him it was a must-do(for children; but growing up in the midwest, apple picking is as apart of me as whole milk and free-range chickens). We arrived about 2:30 on a sunday and the parking lot was nearly exploding with cars, though do to the shear size of the farm, you feel like you’re at a private event. There are 22 rows of orchards with various apples varities: Macouin, Macintosh, Cort and Red Delicious. If you expect to find any decent apples within the first 10 trees of each row, you’re crazy, but venture towards the end of the row and you’ll find a smorgasburg of ripe apples for the taking. Once you’ve picked your fill, venture over to the pumpkin patch to find the perfect sized one(or wagon full) for your family. The sizes range from fits in your palm to Charlie Brown’s «The Great Pumpkin». Had enough picking? Take a break up at the barn for some live music, delicious sandwiches with farm grown veggies, and a walk through the petting zoo of goats and alpacas. If you buy a ticket to the corn maze, Treworgy’s famous event, you’ll also have a coupon for a free ice cream cone afterwards. Their corn maze is not to be missed. Each year they out-do their previous design which have ranged from animals to machinery. This year was the«Loco Locomotive» and the Wall Of Fame(where you could sign your name in Sharpie) was located in the conductor’s seat(check out the photos!). This is a great place for an afternoon date or a day out with the family. There are things to entertain any age and really just makes for the perfect fall event. Many thanks to the Treworgy Family for opening their beautiful farm to the public for everyone to partake in the merriment.

It’s summer camp time at the farm! And of course the ice cream stand is open! Take time to go and enjoy the fruits of the summer as you linger, walk down by the pond and just enjoy a good olé summer treat!
