Swackhammer’s Texas Grill

The best steak house in Levelland, cause its the only steak house in Levelland. Food is good, service is friendly, and restaurant is fairly clean. Probably because they clean the tables with Windex (yes, the glass cleaner)
If you want a steak, and don’t wanna drive to Lubbock, then this is your only choice.

Okay, so I’m in town for work and this place is next door to my hotel. It has a nice feel to it and the waitress was nice. I ordered the chicken fried steak based on the recommendation of another Unilocal customer. I was kinda concerned because the waitress seemed a little stressed, that subsided once her large table left. She was trying to cover 10+ tables, so I see why she seemed stressed. The food came after about 10 minutes and it was pretty good. I noticed someone else ordered onion rings and they came as a pretty big portion covering a medium oval plate and stacked maybe 5 inches high. It was more than I could eat even if it was the only thing I planned on eating. The family of 4 shared them as an appetizer. I also ordered the steamed veggies and sweet potato patties. The patties are just that. They are skinless patties that are different. Not bad, just different. The steamed veggies were green beans and broccoli which were decent but not so much steamed as they were sautéed.
I’ll eat here again because the waitress was nice the food was decent and there isn’t much to choose from in this town and the restaurant appeared to be clean. Come to think of it, eating someplace by default isn’t really a winning formula but it beats driving half an hour to Lubbock for dinner. If I were midway between here and the Red Zone in Lubbock, I would go to the Red Zone 10 out of 10 times.

I am concerned about the idea they clean the tables with Window cleaner from Walmart which has NO disinfectant at all in it. I even went to the city inspector and complained about this but nothing has changed. Food is OK but I’d be surprised that no one has come down with something from this restaurant.

After a disastrous trip my first time I decided to give this restaurant a little bit of a second chance. Our waitress was fantastic at getting our party of five seated and drinks ordered. The menu offers good choices with a simple format. The disappointment came when the amazing looking steak was placed before me. With great anticipation I claimed my knife and fork and set to slicing morsel from the serving. Try as I might I could not cut loose desired bite. So I moved to a different place with same result. I looked up to find waitress and she vanished like a fart in a Texas tornado. Finally as the rest of my family was near finished with their meal I found a member of waitstaff and request a different menu item. Service was again prompt and my second entrée was far superior. I do warm the consumer to be very picky here and suggest the chicken fried steak.

It was decent. But just that, decent. The inside was pretty cool looking but that doesn’t make the food taste any better. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone but I also wouldn’t suggest anyone not go. The food was nothing special at all, just decent. The service was awesome. Quick, friendly and informative.

Came here while visiting my grandparents, it’s one of two restaurants open for dinner in this town. The food took 45 minutes to come out and it was cold. My chicken wasn’t cooked all the way through, which is unacceptable. The menu options leave a lot to be desired, and they ran out of baked potatoes and substituted it with canned corn. Would not recommend coming here.

Very good food at competitive prices. The clientele are always pleasant and serve us well.
