I really miss holiday chicken!!! 3 years ago, kickin chicken it was great. …but the last few times I have been disappointed. … its more expensive and got less… at first… i would get a biscuit with a 4 piece bucket… not so now… I mean. .come on, they charge almost 8 bucks for 4 pieces of chicken… they can’t throw in a piece of bread… wow The wing and the leg I got last night were both over cooked… damn…chicken is all they serve. .it should be a no brainer… get it right! Also.it seems like the sides have gotten smaller… not sure if it’s just me or they changed the containers that they come in… but the 8oz Cole slaw looked smaller than before. I usually order the 4 piece bucket and get 2, 8 oz sides and it would cost me 12.75…last night it came out to almost 17 dollars! Wtf! Maybe business is that bad that they have to pad their prices. … I called in my order, the guy who took my order said 20 minutes. …I got there in 25 minutes and I still had to wait another 20 minutes! I know it’s lower slower Delaware. .but an hour! And there was only 2 people waiting when I got there… Royal farms opened down the street… their chicken is just as good…

Chicken was good. We ordered take out and called ahead. The place is clean and staff friendly. We ordered the mixed bucket and tenders. Everyone who ate a piece of chicken liked it. I had the tenders and they were great — lightly breaded and actual chicken, not pieced or formed nuggets.

Chicken sizes very small, waited ½ hour and it was overlooked, almost burnt. Sides were ok. Staff not particularly pleasant. Would not go back– they had one shot and blew it with me, especially after the other reviews– I see I am not off base here.

We tried Kickin Chicken On Long Neck. The portion size for my husband’s chicken tender meal was like a child’s portion. The buffalo chicken cheesesteak I ordered had no buffalo sauce on it and was soggy and drenched in dressing. The prices were high, and the guy who waited on us couldn’t care less. Don’t waste your time.

It is the beach so I expect prices to be high. That said, I expect to get a decent serving for the money asked. The fried chicken pieces were in fact very good and very enjoyable. Unfortunately I also ordered some wings and that was a BIG mistake. They were literally tiny little wings lost in a sea of the white foam box. Overcooked to extreme so that whatever chicken had been on the bones was desiccated and nearly gone. I have to assume they use the wings that are too small for the mixed buckets. So order the chicken meals and pieces but be warned about ordering wings here.

Tried this for some local flavor. The chicken breast is great — a must have. It was moist, the chicken flavor was very good, and the breading was tasty. The wings and drumsticks were decent enough. The onion rings were soggy by the time we got them home, a little disappointing. But the jalapeño poppers were good. I would return.

Against my better judgement, I returned to the Kickin’ Chicken last night. Let me start by saying that the food is always on point. That is what makes the treatment you receive even more infuriating! We ordered a 12 piece chicken meal, no sides. We were told 20 minutes, and when we got there, the guy(whom I THINK is the owner, but am now 100% sure,) told my husband that he had accidentally made our order wrong and it was lacking 2 breasts. Everyone knows the breasts are the best pieces! Now an error order is not a deal breaker for me, I get it, we are human. And to his credit, he took $ 5 off the order and threw in a few free chicken wings. It would have been another 25 minutes for additional chicken to make our order complete, and by then the rest of our dinner would have been ruined, so we took what we had and went. And it was delicious, as always. The problem is that he treated my husband like absolute crap, AGAIN. Now my husband is NOT the kind of guy to jump to conclusions. When he is treated badly, nine times out of ten, he won’t even say so. But he walked away from this place looking crestfallen and said to me, «I don’t even know why we keep coming here.» I guess it is just one of those businesses that know that their product is good, so they can treat their customers like we are disposable. Everytime he or I go in there, we are verbally berated or assaulted. The first time was my sister in law and husband went in, the same guy literally SCREAMED at them about closing the box(it was pouring rain,) saying that if they wanted soggy chicken, that was their problem. Literally, he rudely screamed at them. The second time they had a sign up for YESTERDAY’S special, and refused to give it to us, or erase the board once they explained(none to kindly, as usual, they bit my head off,) that it was from the day before. One thing about restaurants and businesses in this area that shocks me is the fact that it is actually abnormal if you are treated nicely when you patronize a shop, restaurant, etc. It is a sad truth of living in a place where many patrons are transient, tourists. Since the business is always there, they have no motivating factor to treat us kindly. It irritates me even more when I think about the fact that I am a local, the bread and butter for this area in the winter time. UGH!!! If it means anything to you to be treated at the very least with basic kindness by a business you patronize, then stay away from this place. I am done spending my hard earned money here.

Let’s start with portions… They are BIG portions for the sides. Ok now that I got that off my chest let’s move to the reason you are reading this: Service is fairly slow but staff was pleasant to deal with. The chicken breast was meaty and tasty. Wife claims that it was the best she’s ever had. The other food ordered was 4 star worthy. Not the best wings i’ve ever had but they were good. Atmosphere was fast food hectic but most people were taking out. Would recommend :)

Very good fried chicken made fresh to order. Local chicken and very friendly service. Don’t compare this to KFC as that would be an insult.

Its unfortunate that Robert E. had such a bad experience, my husband and I LOVE their chicken wings and tenders. We would classify ourselves as food snobs, but occasionally enjoy some good fried chicken. We are also from Buffalo, NY,(aka: born with a chicken wing in my mouth) so we can speak on authority that the wings at this place are better than some that I’ve had in Buffalo! We come here every time we go to the beach(several times a year). They use fresh chicken from a local poultry farm(the girl behind the counter recently told me they use Allen’s in Seaford, DE which is not injected). The chicken tenders are freshly cut and battered right before they fry them, and they must use really hot oil because it really seals in the juicyness of the chicken! I can’t say enough about this place. I don’t care if the girl was wearing a greasy shirt… she works with deep fryer after all!

Actually, I’m pretty sure that this is the best, most spicy and delicious food in Lewes, Delaware. All five things we ordered were at the top of their game for flavor and heat. Oh, how we loved it. If it were in my home town, I’d eat there once a week. If you visit, go. If you live there, live here.
