Best bagels in DE. I have been visiting this area for years from NJ and every time we can only get bagels from here. I am very picky about my bagels because I’m used to NY ones but this my friends is on point. Lots of variety. Lines are very long on the weekends and summer but they are quick. The remodel gives a nice option for outdoor seating with is dog friendly.

Call ahead. Order breakfast sandwich. Arrive. Point at others in longer line. Add extra large coffee and crumb cake. Fill coffee with the Morphine variety. Heaven.

3.5 The bagels were not the best bagels I’ve ever had, but I will give them props on the nice variety and Old Bay bagels… so rad!(I have to talk like that, it’s surf themed so yea, tubular dude :) There’s a good variety of food choices and also a wide variety for the health conscious and veg heads which I definitely appreciated! Choose from make your own salads, smoothies, a number of different wraps, fresh baked pastries, cheesesteaks and of course cream cheeses and all kinds of breakfast sammies with egg and meats. They have every chip you could ever imagine, some I’ve never even seen plus homemade chips that come with the hummus and veggies bagel sammy I ordered. The iced coffee was a tad too weak, but I didn’t appreciate the non dairy milks. They had about 4 varieties of hot coffee too. The place had cute surf murals and surfing playing on the tele which I thought was a very nice touch. So beachy! There are plenty of tables on both sides of the joint and a few outside as well. We had no wait at all to order or to sit on a busy shore Saturday morning. The regular bagels were stuffed with cream cheese so much that my daughter asked me to take some out. Hubs said his egg and sausage bagel was just ok. I got house hummus with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles on an Old Bay bagel which was so great in flavor, but the bagel was just not as thick and crispy enough for what I’m used to.(I think I got spoiled with my Fill A Bagel the day before. Hard to live up to those!) We ordered the chickpea stuffed avocado for the table too because it sounded so good! It was HUGE! Both sides of the avocado, piled so high and served with fresh cucumber and tomato slices! Way too much food for one person! All and all a good breakfast/lunch spot at the beach with groovy vibes. Just down the road from all your major DE beaches making it a perfect pre beach breaky spot or a to-go and grab for the beach lunch stop! We’ll be back as it was hard to choose just what to get. We’ll try something else next time besides bagels. Lots of choices! The woman next to use raved about the fish wrap and chicken salad. So maybe try those. 3.5 Unilocal

One of the best bagels I have ever had! That bacon egg and cheese saved my life on our way out of Dewey. We saw the sign driving in for the weekend and thought we’d give it a whirl on the way back home-so glad we stopped! The bagel was soft(even after being toasted) and all the fillings were perfect. I am super picky about bagels and how my eggs are cooked, so this was a great surprise! If i’m back at Dewey, I will be stopping at Surf Bagel for sure.

Best bagels and breakfast sandwiches. It’s hard to find a good new York style bagel, but these are amazing. Their coffee isn’t the best, but it’s manageable. Lines are long so go early.

We hit this up on a Sunday morning. It was busy but fast counter service. I got a toasted spinach bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese and an ice coffee. Davis chose a sausage egg and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. He said it was fabulous. They also offer a lot of lunch options and a decent hot coffee selection.

Had a bacon egg and cheese today. Beagle was fresh and the fixings were outstanding. Cooked to perfection. Have eaten here a few times in the past but been a while. Will definitely be coming back more frequently when j am in the area.

I use to travel to Rehobeth once a year to watch the sunrise. Now I travel to Rehobeth once a year to get a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Surf Bagel has a wide variety of bagels and cream cheeses. I got the pumpernickel with sun-dried tomato cream cheese. Zach got an everything bagel with garlic cream cheese. I prefer my sandwich, but I could be a little bias. I can not give a real opinion on the crowds. We were there on a Thursday morning out of beach season. We were welcomed with open arms and everyone was friendly. Our order was made incorrectly, but they did not hesitate to fix it. We also got to keep the messed-up order. I am already looking forward to going back next year.

I was skeptical about this places that hosts a monthly politician’s coffee meeting because I didn’t want to go to a restaurant where politics was forefront. But after seeing the numerous reviews I knew that I would have to try it. I wasn’t too disappointed. This may be one of the best bagel shops in the area(that’s not saying much) but it would better compete with some of the sandwich shops. On contact with the staff this place gets a fail. There are more than 20 feet of menu signage and as a first time customer I was trying to take it all in. Also, the different types of bagels are angled off so you can’t read the menu and select a bagel at the same time. I’m trying to read the menu which now I know is repetitive with a chalk board menu in back of the register and a printed menu above the register. There are also various notes posted all over the place. Normally I would have tried to read it all but the cashier was awkwardly impatient considering there was no line. I asked for a turkey bagel and when she asked what I wanted on it I said what are my options? She just looked at me blankly and shrugged so I took a stab at some of the ingredients they might have. Also, later when I placed an order of bagels they seemed rushed for me to make my selections. The place was packed with people eating and chitchatting. The customers were very friendly and happy to engage in conversation with strangers. Most of the tables were of older people enjoying a coffee but even with so many people it wasn’t packed or cramped. The food was ok. I ordered a turkey on everything bagel and my wife got a chicken club wrap. It was delicious meat and plenty of it. It says a lot that my wife’s wrap was a lot better than my bagel sandwich at a bagel shop — not a sandwich shop. The everything bagel was bland to my liking only having a little poppy seeds and garlic but seemingly no onions or other spices. Even though that bagel disappointed I have since tried others that are at least flavorful. Their spinach, jalapeño, and sun dried tomato were good. The biggest problem is that there is very little consistency. Bagels are often different sizes and are oddly shaped. I found almost all of them have one crispy side and one doughy side. This is probably because the bagels are over-sized and don’t cook evenly. The bagels are also a bit tough and are either not fresh or cooked poorly. The prices seem to vary drastically. $ 6 for a half dozen uncut bagels but over $ 3 for a single bagel with flavored cream cheese. The breakfast bagel sandwiches were about $ 4 but $ 7 for just turkey and lettuce. As a lifetime local I’ve come to expect summer prices and winter prices in the resort areas. I avoid the beaches in the summer so I don’t know if there is a price change here but the fluctuation might account for the variance in pricing. Either way there is very little attention to detail and the place is all around too rushed for for the slower pace of the way of life in Sussex in the winter.

I love the variety of bagel flavors and their texture. The smoked salmon spread was a nice break from the norm. Service was fast and friendly. I don’t love their coffee but would definitely return for breakfast or lunch.

People who thought this place was playin is dead wrong! They ain’t playin. Coffee is good as hell. My bagel was delishee-oh-so. They didn’t skimp on the cream cheese. That jawn was stuffed! Prices were low and the service was fast. Everyone there was really freakin nice too. Thanks Surf Bagel!

On a hungover and tired drive home from OCMD, my friends and I decided that we needed to get something to sustain ourselves for the rest of our drive back to Philadelphia. Being a chain-restaurant-hater, I was pumped when Surf Bagel appeared in front of us! The line was long, as I would expect on a summer weekend morning, but it moved quickly. One line to order, and another area with a rather chaotic cluster of people waiting to pick up their order. They have a huge menu, with a plethora of bagel«flavors», in addition to lunch sandwiches, and smoothies. The bagels are made fresh daily, so you really can’t go wrong there. My only complaint is that I ordered a «whole wheat everything» and got a regular«everything». The bacon, egg and cheese on my bagel were delicious and hit the spot! This is definitely worth a bookmark reminder for future drives through Lewes!

My Wife and I have eaten here several times. The bagels are amazing and made into a variety of sandwiches, which are very tasty. The Rockfish Reuben sandwich is absolutely incredible. We’ve brought out of state guests here and they all have said the Reuben is one of the most unique and tasty sandwiches they have ever enjoyed. This is a great lunch stop. Also, they roast their own coffee, and it is always hot and satisfying. The eating area seems to be always very noisy and busy, but there are a few picnic benches outside, which are quieter. If you don’t mind crowds and lines, then you’ll enjoy this place.

We stopped in Surf Bagel on our way to rent a U-Haul, and I am so happy did! When we walked in, there was a long line, wrapping through the store and I was worried we would be waiting a long time, but they do push through the orders very quickly. I ordered an onion bagel with garlic cream cheese and it was so good. I would have gladly eaten two of them! They did put a lot of cream cheese on it, so I wiped around half off of it. My fiancé was a little disappointed because they ran out of the bagel that he wanted, so they put his breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel rather than asking him if he wanted something else.

Uhm one of the best bagels I’ve ever inhaled. The lines are long always on the weekend, but they move. They ALWAYS have egg bagels(my fav) while other places typically run out. Even with the long lines, they always seem to have an abundance of bagels in the late morning hours. Can’t say it’s that way at 2 p.m. though since I’ve never been closer to closing time :) They have some inventive bagel flavors too if you’re adventurous. Nice little outdoor seating area. Got a bagel to go too and it was still good the next day when toasted. I still need to try the breakfast sandwiches at some point.

Stopped in here for breakfast on my way out of town and found a gem. Saw the reviews on Unilocal and it was right on my way. I didn’t know what to expect at first b/c the building sits back a little and it’s not as commercial as a lot of the other places in the area. It was a good sign that there were a lot of people in there, though it didn’t take too long. The breakfast was great, so was the coffee(with a lot of flavor options). The price was very reasonably, and the people at the cash register were super friendly too. Very glad I found this place; just wish it was closer to where I normally stay.

Great bagel place. Went this weekend and they were closing at 3, I walked in at2:57 after having been caught in traffic and starving and they still served me. Which I thought was really nice. I had tuna fish on a tasted everything bagel and a bottle of water. It was a bit more money than expected, it was like $ 10 – 11 bucks. But it is close to the beach. So I guess that’s what I expected. Kind of further up route 1, but definitely a solid place! Would return for sure.
