so after a long three days being at a conference, I decided to enjoy nature to the very fullest. Since I’m an outdoor type of girl, this was the very first time that I was able to go to this particular spot which is only minutes away from where I live. It was so quiet, so serene, so tranquil that I just sat right on the beach spot and listen to the waves. This is now a new quiet time place for me. It was a picture perfect day for me to go in there were only just a few people out enjoying the sun, the waves, and the wind. It’s a very safe place with Park Rangers in the area to make sure that the beach and the dam area were secure. I definitely plan on bringing my boyfriend from Atlanta to come with me so we can sit and talk. I had went to Hoover dam earlier that day and decided to give Alum Creek a chance and I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the scenery and how clean and neat the entire park was. Definitely a beautiful scene for lovers, friends and just a place to find peace

The Alum Creek Below Dam Area has something for everyone. For families with kids — not one but TWO separate, yet equally awesome, playgrounds. Then there’s also a huge open field for running and playing, a giant boulder for climbing and sitting and pretending to be Ariel the Little Mermaid(my daughter has dubbed it the Ariel rock for this reason), and the dam to climb up and walk along. For couples seeking romance — talk about amazing scenic vistas. The view from the top of the dam is gorgeous. Walk all the way along for some beautiful secluded spots(most people only traverse part of the top). Views of water on one side, lovely green spaces and woodlands on the other. For anyone wanting some exercise and time outdoors — this place is the bomb. The stairs and hillsides are fantastic for a workout. Walking or running along the top of the dam is so pretty, you’ll barely notice you’re getting fit. For nature lovers — we’ve seen American bald eagles, cormorants, untold numbers of waterfowl and deer here. It’s a lovely spot. If you’re at the bottom and unimpressed, climb to the top. I promise it’s worth it! We bring all our central Ohio visitors here and they are blown away. Sunrise and sunset are particularly gorgeous, but truly it’s always a «dam» good time. Okay, sorry, you knew I had to get that in there somewhere. Seriously — get yourself to the«dam park»(as my daughter calls it) ASAP. You’ll love it, too.

I was here this past weekend for an event and it was a spectacular area! 3 pavilions available to rent, REAL bathroom facilities(running water), 2 large playgrounds, ample parking, water fountains, and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the day! There are stairs up to the top of the dam, and the creek is right there to explore, as well. Overall, a great park!

What a beautiful little park! Adjacent to Alum Creek State Park and sharing the opposite bank of the lake therein, I recently spent a day here as part of a manager’s retreat for my job. While the plan for the day was mostly tedious boredom, talks and discussions and team-building, it was impossible to ignore the beauty of this quaint little picnic spot. The ACBDA(whew!) is mostly a wide open field, bordered on one side by the road and on the other side by the retaining wall and dam for the lake/reservoir at Alum Creek State Park. There’s a couple picnic pavilions(reservations accepted) and a couple playgrounds as well as a handful of grills– a perfect little picnic place that feels far away from the city but really isn’t. I took the opportunity to climb the long, straight-up staircase to the top of the dam, and I’m glad I did. It offers a hell of a view of the lake; you’re way high up, the water’s way down below, and all around people look like ants, distant specks of humanity. Peaceful, although it’s worth noting that the place is a hotbed for jogging and dog-walking so it’s not exactly solitude. If you’re looking for a place to take the family for a picnic or if you have to plan a small gathering, this is a decent place to go. It’s probably the only park I’ve ever witnessed cleaning staff at– as we arrived, a woman was washing down the picnic tables. The bathroom facilities were almost alarmingly clean for a public park. Not a bad little place. Not a bad little place at all.
