I have been to nearly every Hannaford in both the state of Maine and New Hampshire. And this is my absolute favorite location. I never seem to have a problem finding what I need(meaning, it’s either always in stock or is placed in appropriate section of the store), it’s clean(some Hannaford’s in the state are really, really grody), the organic section is perfectly placed and easy to navigate(and full of the things I love!), and the people who work here? Exceptional. Every Hannaford should be using the Lewiston Hannaford as a model for the most outstanding customer service. While I’ve never purchased seafood from here, the folks who work behind the counter seem to be some of the most outwardly friendly people in the world. Every time(literally) I’ve ever passed by, they seem to be engaged with their customers in an intimate way. «One pound of salmon, Bob? How’re the girls? Jenny goes for her license soon, right?» That personal touch just doesn’t seem to exist in many places anymore, does it? That kindness and respect — respect of job, respect of customers, respect of the Hannaford name — transcends into other departments, too. My favorite part of ANY shopping experience I EVER have is in the produce department of THIS grocery store. The guys who work here are simply outstanding. They effortlessly and seamlessly go from stocking vegetables to engaging with every customer that passes by to make sure they are finding everything they need. It’s a warm and fuzzy feeling… like a big hug from someone you’re always excited to be around! Well done, Lewiston Hannaford. You’ve got a fan for life!

A very well stocked grocery story. High class selection is helped by the Nature’s Place aisle which provides a condensed selection of Whole Foods like items. Good selection of fruits, veggies and meat come marked organic, although there are no free-range claims, mostly just anti-hormonal. The woman who works behind the seafood counters on weekday evenings(they close up about an hour before the store does,) is chatty and will make recommendations, even come around from out behind the counter. Checkout isn’t too bad, always a decent if not abundant number of cashiers, and cart returns are aplenty in the lot.
