Let’s make this clear: This Disc Golf Course rocks! It’s huge. Quite a drive North of Buffalo, Joseph Davis has a 27 hole Disc Golf course. Myself and a few friends went to check it out and were very pleasantly surprised. Several of the courses are short, but ideally technical. Not too many trees, the hazards are legit, and the course is well maintained: the pads were new and the greens were mowed down. And it wasn’t busy! That was fantastic! The people that we did see were friendly and moved along quickly. One local guy did bring his dog, which I hate, but the dog was a pit bull and couldn’t be less interested in chasing discs, but instead was totally loving on us while we let the guy play through. That was alright. Our group was really into chatting, so we totally messed up the order of holes and got turned around, but that’s on us. If we had actually been paying attention, the course is fairly well marked, even if the signs are dated and the tree hazards have grown out of what they originally once were. There are no water hazards, but a few marshy drainage ditches. Overall, the course itself is very dry unlike many in Buffalo, because it’s just outside Lewiston and has some elevation to let all that rain run off. Big win over places like Beaver and Ellicot which stay soggy for days following a rain. This is a great place for disc golf – just really wonderful! That being said, if you came here for anything else, you might be disappointed. There’s no charge to get in, and that lack of revenue shows in the degradation of the buildings, the age of the playgrounds, and the lack of up to date picnic areas. It’s basically a playground desert. It seems like all the money this park gets from the State goes strictly to lawn maintenance and that’s it. There is one fairly new playground, but for the size of the park, it’s kind of sad. But for disc golf? It’s absolutely fantastic!
