Ridgeview At Lewiston

I have a service dog and when I tried to get a lease application I was told that they have no exceptions for service dogs — completely breaking the state of NY’s Fair Housing Act Law. When I commented that it was illegal to turn down a person simply because of their need for a service animal I was told «well were privately owned.» Basically, too bad because we said so. As if that exempts them from following the law and allowing equal opportunity housing. Luckily for them I am not under a great stress to find housing and won’t take this issue any further. However, I am leaving their offices completely unimpressed and frankly, offended. If this is how they treat actual residents then maybe I’m glad I didn’t get a place there!
