Évaluation du lieu : 1 Spring Mills, PA
This happened between 8:15 pm and 8:40 this evening, 11÷11÷15. I asked when ordering our meal whether it would be ok to swing around the drive through to pick up the free kiddie cones after the kids played and ate inside. I have a 5 year old autistic son and 3 year old daughter and that simple convenience makes the adventure just a bit less stressful. I’ve done it several times before with no problem at the same location. I was told by the cashier that it would be no problem. However, when I pulled around after leaving, not fewer than 3 people met me at the first window to tell me it’s against their new policy to hand out the kiddie cones through the drive-through(i asked for the manager and she mindlessly repeated what everyone else said) and that even though I was told it was OK that they couldn’t make an exception. Although it makes no sense to me if you can prove you were JUST inside with a receipt, I understand there’s a new owner and that things change(for the worse, obviously). HOWEVER, I wouldn’t have considered leaving the restaurant before getting ice cream if I hadn’t been explicitly told that it would be fine to drive around. I went back inside, asked for the cones out of principle, and when the cashier was asked if she told me I could drive around, she was covering her butt(or she simply didnt listen to what i said) and told the manager, «Oh, I misunderstood and thought you were asking if you could stop by the counter after you were finished.» Except I used the words«drive» and«drive through» so I don’t buy the misunderstanding. Every single person there was completely unsupportive and unwilling to compromise, sympathize, or budge. It’s apparent that they are 1) uneducated and afraid of doing what is obviously right and good for fear of breaking a policy. If the new owner doesn’t think what they did was wrong, then 2) the new owner rules with an iron fist and puts customer feelings last. I work in a customer facing position and I’m taught that although the customer isn’t always right, you at the very least better not make them feel wrong. Especially when they aren’t. It’s one of the few places with indoor slides in our area, so I’m stuck with going back for the kids’ sake, but I’ll simply get a coffee for myself and watch the kids play. We’ll be spending our money on food at kinder(and healthier, so there’s one benefit, I suppose) establishments. Chick-fil-A is fantastic about things like this — we always pick up the ice cream through the drive through when we leave(we trade in the kids meal toy). This was my worst McDonald’s experience ever — hands down. I dont know why they made me rate it with 1 star. Mr. Barrett, please buy back these franchises and fix them. :)
