I don’t care how many times I eat here it never gets old! I always stop for a strawberry milkshake with my son and we love it! It’s one of the cheapst places to eat around town and it’s always good! I think I got a burger, fries and shake for under $ 5 bucks!!! They use to have car shows and stuff but I’ve not seen any lately but of course it’s winter still so I doubt they will right now lol… But if you want good food at a great price I Def recommend this place!

I have mixed feelings about a place like this. The reason is I really love mom-and-pop shops but the sad part is I see a lot of them like this here Kentucky that are just not keeping up with the times and up with their building. Sadly places like this are disappearing because more hip and trendy places are opening up and personally appearance is a very big thing when you’re wanting to buy some food. I feel that places like this are just disappearing also because their menu hasn’t change in a long time which is not a bad thing but it doesn’t hurt to least add a few different things to it to track new people and get sales up. The food here is always great I love the burgers and fries, shakes are OK very basic. It will be sad to see this place go when eventually newer and better places open nearby unless they keep up with you know the building and their menu.

Very hole in the wall feel. Burgers taste great along with the fries! I’m a big milkshake fan, and theirs is a little thicker than my preference, but the taste is really good! The place is really cheap too! You can get a lot for little.

I’ve eaten at this place since I was a little kid and it’s just about the only joint that never changed. In fact, even my parents say the same thing. If you want to experience a good old school burger, this is the place to be.

On occasion these greasy little burgers hit the spot. Unfortunately, on this visit the bun must have been previously heated and set aside. Warm meat and cheese. Dry bun. What can be counted upon are the fries. They are hot, crispy and delicious EVERY time. If I want fries I make the drive. McDonald’s fries are notoriously hit or miss. The 50 cent piece in change is a fun tradition.

I come to town once a year and it is almost mandatory that I stop here and grab some burgers! I wish they made burgers as good as these close to where I live. And the price can’t be beat.

So this is an update; although, it will not allow me to update. Today, is a Monday, and that meant that Chase Bank’s lobby opened up again. I was able to get $ 10 in cash and finally, was able to get a chili dog, double cheese, large fries, and a large vanilla shake from this place. For this it gets a good standing because value for food, under $ 10, awesome! From what my thoughts originally were: the place looked like a mom and pop shop and cash only. Suspense was killing me that this place, like all other comparable places introduced on Food Paradise(this one not), would be out of this world. I went in, quickly ordered my food and the service was indeed very quick. I waited about 5 minutes. After getting the food, I had taken one bite of each(still eating while I write this) and found the burger kind of tasted like it was made on a candle, still good though because of the pickle and onions. I am thinking it was the wax paper they wrapped it in(no I did not eat it with the wax paper on. I saw the wax paper and I had taken it off –_-). Additionally, there was a lot of chuck(tendons, hard chewy pieces that are found usually in low grade meat). Some other review said it was like In N Out… no not really! Do I need to calibrate your tongue? The chili dog tasted all right, but I like my chili a little bit runnier. Kind of like on Hardee’s chili dogs. Then again, I saw them pull it out of a microwave and that is probably what dried it out. Lastly, my shake and fries were great. Only problem was, the woman who made it yelled«THESHAKEISCOMINGOUTFUNNY! O_o For this I give it a minus one star. I am afraid that this may not be the best way the shake could have potentially come out. I mean it tastes fine, but why make me so anxious? Even if it was not coming out right, you probably should not have shouted it when the customer, me, was standing right there. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - So like one reviewer below me, I too have passed this place many a time(trying to sound sophisticated). Anywho, it does look like a very old school burger place and probably, for comparison, an old school version of IN N Out. You can see them making the burgers and shakes. I actually was able to journey there today because I had to check on some AT&T stores around the area. So triumphantly I went in and said«I would like a burger, chili cheese dog, large fries, and a large shake.» Of course, with me being so confident, I totally missed the«CASHONLY» sign. What started as confidence, turned into embarrassment. I immediately said«delete it» and walked with my head down. I will be back and that is not just because I am a Terminator fan. I can tell this place is great. I have done my research on episodes of Food Paradise and I am amazed that this place has not made it on there. Usually the«cash only» places are the top restaurants of the U.S. Sucks Chase banks are not open on Sundays(I know. atm…forgot my pin –_-)

It’s simple and to the point. Good skinny burgers and hot fries. The vanilla shake was yummy. After ordering, the old time change machine spit out a 50 cent piece. Absolutely charming.

Good was great. The workers, however, not so much. They don’t make you feel very welcome here. They rush you and aren’t very friendly, which is a huge thing for me, if I’m spending my own money somewhere.

It reminds me of an old McDonald’s. Because it was! This location was a McDonald’s in the 60’s. The menu is limited, like the menu of McDonald’s in the 60’s, but MUCH tastier. It was all fresh and good. Cheeseburger was simple but good. The fries were super fresh and AMAZING! Shake was very creamy with NO ice crystals. It was excellent. Very cheap. We will be going back!

Lexington’s best kept secret. Take a step back in time with this place. It is so good in a greasy brown paper bag sort of way. Double Cheeseburger and fries, I am in heaven. Be sure to bring cash though, I have seen numerous people leave when they found out they don’t accept credit or debit.

3.5 stars, tough debate for me how many stars to give this place. I think I went down to the 3 is because my expectations were so high reading these reviews. I was dying for some fries and a burger or fried chicken while on a business trip to Lexington and debated a few spots that showed up near me on Unilocal. This shop was real low priced which I love because I’m cheap. My main gripe with it is just that I was expecting in and out burger or something and also wanted a bit more fries and a bit thicker. The fries were good if you like the thin McDonalds style and the large was plenty, albeit not horribly overflowing like five guys. The cheeseburger was good with the onions and mustard and pickles but I definitely recommend a double because it’s very thin. I was hoping for more juiciness but I did like that it was grilled right when I ordered and the bun was just right. Overall leaving for under $ 5 is great compared to some of these newer chains like five guys or smashburger and good for old fashioned food.

I have been driving by this place for over 11 years and never tried it out. I family stopped today, which of course they’ve had to increase their prices as well. They use to be .69 burgers, but it’s still cheaper and better than Mcdonalds’s! I got the cheeseburger and small fry and med drink. I was going for the med chocolate shake, but they were out of it. Just reason for me to come back. My total was around 4.60 or so I think. The fries are the perfect crisp and salted just right. It’s not the best burger in town but in comparison to other fast food this is better I think. The only reason for 4 stars is that it could use some Sprucing up on the inside and they only take cash.

No nonsense burger joint pulled straight outta the sixties. Great value, friendly service and super tasty! Double cheeseburger, hot and greasy; fantastic shake and crispy, hot skinny fries… Perfect for dipping in your shake! All served up super quickly for less than $ 6! This place should definitely be on your go-to list of Lexington burger joints!!!

Growing up in Lexington I would drive by this place occasionally and feel like I was seeing a restaurant stuck in time. Up until a few years ago the sign said Burger Shake 79 cents. Now it’s 99 cents. I started a new job half a year ago and I now pass this place everyday. Curiosity won out last night and I stopped in for a cheeseburger, small fries, and large coke for just over $ 4.00. The restaurant looks like it has remained unchanged inside and out for at least 30 years, and not in a cute Parkette Drive In kind of way! This isn’t the type of place where you would take a girl on a first date(unless she has specifically told you that she wants to experience an authentic Lexington dive), but it’s a great place to go with friends and family. Burger Shake beats other fast food restaurants in the area hands down. As one reviewer has already mentioned, it tastes a lot like In and Out Burger. Their fries are the same thin style you find at I&O and the ingredients tasted fresh. The meat on the cheeseburger was real meat and not that faux meat stuffed with fillers you find at chain fast food restaurants.

This place serves the best Burger, fries and shake meal in Lexington. Period. For five dollars and change you get a hot double cheeseburger with onions, pickle and mustard, perfectly cooked McDonalds-style fries(and tons of them) and a creamy thick shake. If you like simple, delicious, unpretencious fast food, this is your place. This is the closest thing I have found to In ‘N Out Burger in southern California. My daughter, son and I ate here earlier in the week and did an unofficial grading: Unanimous Burger: A, Fries: A, Shake: A. I, like many Lexingtonians, pass by this restuarant all the time, usually on my way to pick up my kids from school nearby. I have only recently decided to stop in. The setup is clean, very plain with ample seating. Service is window only, no drive through or table service, but service is fast and staff is very polite. I have not had other food items on the menu but I would be fine to eat a burger here every day! I am curious as to why this place isn’t packed with customers all day. Eat here and you’ll wonder why, too. In most cities, a place like this would be an institution. I would expect UK students, high school kids, businesspeople, hipsters and working stiffs all lining up for a fast and highly satisfying meal. Next time you drive by the big sign(don’t forget the fries), stop in. You’ll see what I mean.

It’s okay, but nowhere near as superior as many people would say. I ate there last night, and here’s the good and the bad. Good: Price was decent, cost about as much as a fast food meal anywhere else, maybe a tad cheaper. The large milkshake is truly large in size, it’s almost a meal to itself. The service was very friendly. The place has a very retro style to it, because it’s pretty much unchanged from the 1950’s or early 1960’s. It’s a bona-fide old-school burger joint, and there aren’t a lot of those left, especially ones that are as unchanged from old days. Bad: The burgers were pretty tiny, and pretty forgettable to be honest. In fact, the food as a whole was mediocre and forgettable. Not bad, and better than McDonalds, but I’ve had better from a dive. They are cash only. Not taking debit cards in this day and age is pretty much ludicrous. Drink selection was bad. Fountain sodas or milkshakes. If you were trying to watch your sugar intake and wanted water or unsweetened tea, this isn’t the place for you. As a summation, it’s a decent place, better than chain fast food, but isn’t really that superior or super-special.

Burgers are great, chicken sandwich was good but maybe a little too crispy(over cooked?) and the hot dog was tasty but microwaved. If they put the hot dogs through the burger griller it would be amazing!

Kind of a shady joint, always has been. Don’t let the appearance fool you. One of the best greasy spoons in Lexington. The burgers are tasty flame broiled and they really seem big for what you pay. They are served with pickle onion and mustard. But the fries in the greasy bag are great, and the cheese left on the wax paper from the burger, love it! Be sure to bring cash as they do not accept credit/debit cards.

Lets not beat around the bush: This will not be the best burger you’ll ever eat(most likely). However — let me get to my reasons for the 5 stars. 1) The price. The place is super cheap. When I come back to Lexington to visit my family we’ll get dinner from Burger Shake at least one night. For 20 bucks it can feed 4 of us. And we all eat at least 2 of their burgers(the meat patties are thin). 2) The freshness. When you order the burgers — they yell it out and put the burgers in the broiling machine along with the buns. A couple minutes later they roll out the other side. Then they put the burgers together, grab some hot, fresh fries out of the fryer, throw them in a bag and away you go. 3) The Taste. They may not be the best burgers ever — but they taste good, the broiling adds a great flavor and all the toppings taste great. The fries are better than the ‘gold standard’ for fast food(McDonalds) and the shakes are very thick — but very tasty. Yeah, they come out of a machine — but still — I love them. And, part of the reason I suppose is nostalgia. I remember coming here when I was a kid. When I come back to visit I have to have some burger and shake. You may have a better burger — but I bet you will have spent a lot more on it too. However, you should keep in mind that Burgers, Fries and Shakes are what they do best. The rest of the stuff is average at best. Although my nephew loves the hot dog. I, however, stick to the burgers. So to sum it up: The food is fresh, tasty and cheap. Usually fresh, cheap and tasty aren’t in the same sentence together… but they melded them together successfully at Burger Shake.
