Pros: Overall, this coffee shop seemed very relaxed with a ton of seating area. They have a great drink menu(not so much food). The music wasn’t too loud and it seemed like a pretty happening place for UK students. Cons: There is very, very limited parking. Also, the person in front of me used a card and didn’t leave a tip, which the worker brought to my attention. So 1. He was speaking poorly of a customer and made me feel obligated to leave a tip so he wouldn’t comment on me. And 2. He commented on the size of my wedding ring. Neither of those things are appropriate and I just found it flat out rude. So, I ended up paying $ 8 for a 16oz frappé($ 6.50 for the drink and $ 1.50 tip). Don’t judge– I didn’t want to be ridiculed. So, I gave the place a 4 because it seems like a wonderful place and didn’t want to base it off of 1 employee.

I love finding a good coffee house that is spacious, full of power outlets, and has good drinks. I knew looking in the UK area would help me find such a place, and this is it. I needed a place to work on a project, and coffee house always seems to be the best bet. But I can get picky when it comes to these places. I need space for me stuff, outlets to plug into, good wi-fi, good drinks, and a good atmosphere. This place fit the bill. I’ve had iced green tea(Sun Kissed [apricot + mango I think… it was amazing whatever it was]) and hot coffee. Both times, I was pleased. I had good drinks for a good price, and I was able to work on my project with space and AC power. Parking was a little rough though. First time I was here, I wanted to walk and enjoy the nice day, so I parked in front of the Catholic Newman Center on Rose to give myself a chance to stretch my legs. The second time, I wanted to park close, and luckily nabbed the last spot in the back parking lot. So be aware, parking may be hard to come by. Also, I left my second visit at approx 5:45PM as everyone was getting off work, and traffic in any direction was a mess. You’ll be stuck within the UK campus for a good 10−15+ minutes no matter which direction you go. But I’ll be back. I very much enjoyed this place and I could not ask for more in the coffee house.

I visit a coffee house for three applications: working, relaxing, and dining. They overlap but each application has priorities. When I’m working, I want a good surface, a comfortable supportive seat for keyboarding and writing, and outlets to power my devices. Good wifi is a plus but not a necessity. Coffea Island gets 5 stars for their booths /tables, and wifi. I worked here this morning and it was great. They also have a nice selection of comfy seating that looks great for settling in and relaxing. 5 predictive stars for the plush seating choices; I’ll return for a test drive. There was a small selection of pastries and I didn’t see any selections like oatmeal or fruit but I didn’t read the menu so I might be wrong about their offerings. I had a bran-blueberry muffin and i thought it was a little dry. 3 stars for the muffin. They offer brewed or french press coffee, but not pour over. I tried the brewed and it was just OK. I’m not a fan of coffee served from a pump carafe and next time I’ll try their french press. I ordered a large and they offered it in a mug with two refills; I liked that a lot because hot coffee should be, well, hot. 4 stars for the coffee in a mug. Staff was welcoming, and background music wasn’t intrusive. I was here early on a Sunday morning so parking was easy but it’s probably limited other times.

This could be one of the most chill coffee places that I’ve been to. The vibe here is amazing, the music wasn’t over powering and it added to the relaxing atmosphere. I like how the building is divided into several sections so each area seems secluded but not detached. There are multiple comfy chairs, sofas, as well as low and high tables to work on your laptop if necessary. Just a great place to grab a hot beverage and relax!

Good: variety of drinks. Menu includes some desserts and quick bites. Bad: Takes a while to get your order. Does not open late and closing time keeps changing.

Fantastic spacious campus right near the UK campus. They have parking out in the back and there are a couple of parking spots right in front if you are lucky enough to snag one of those. When you walk inside, it is split into two rooms with almost a Southwestern vibe in one room and a very zen vibe in the other with a glass waterfall and some soothing music playing. Every time that I have been there, I’ve had some really good pastries along with great coffee served in an unimaginable variety of ways. It’s a little more expensive than a Starbucks, but has a lot more personality and better coffee and pastries. They are also very known for their hot chocolate which goes right along with the very warm, homey atmosphere of the place. Definitely worth a stop by if you are in the area and want some coffee.

Best place to get coffee or tea near campus. I get a french press most times I go and tea sometimes in the afternoon. Really like the atmosphere, especially the fireplace when it’s cold. Only drawback is the slow service.

Great coffee, great atmosphere. I spend a lot of time here. My only critique is the service is usually pretty slow. Worth the wait, just slow. 5 stars if they had faster service.

Great cup at the perfect location if you’re a student needing to do some homework with caffeine. Only downside is its more expensive than your average coffee especially if you request modifications(latte with soy milk will cost you over $ 5). I typically stick with the brews that day for cheaper price(Tanzania teaberry brew is Awesome)

I wasn’t impressed by this place. I find the coffee to be burned tasting and just not very good. The atmosphere of the place is a little strange too. It looks nice at first glance but then you realize it’s kinda dingy.

Came here to get a hot chocolate with my hubby on a Wednesday night. They are open late which is a huge plus. This is a super cute place with a Woodland Forest feel. There were lots of UK students studying and quietly working in front of their computers. We were one of the only ones having a conversation. Nevertheless there’s something about this place that I really like. It made me feel giddy, youthful. We sat in old, overstuffed chairs listening to some chill tunes and sipped on yummy hot chocolate.

Neat little place. When I was in town and I stopped here, I got the Vermont. Nice drink, sweet but not too sweet! Kind of an eclectic, kitschy vibe inside. Nice selection of coffee drinks and food here, along with plenty of seating.

Love love love. Tuna salad was excellent, coffee was excellent. The barista was great in her recommendations of both! On the work side, spent a few hours sending emails here. Wifi worked well, couches were comfy and despite there being a ton of people, there was plenty of space! Will be back the next time I’m in lex.

Coffea Island serves good drinks in a great atmosphere. Their menu of drinks ranges from standard coffee and tea drinks to specialty drinks and smoothies. Due to its close location to the UK campus, it is a hot-spot for students and it can especially get crowded during the exam week. The layout provides variety of seating options ranging from comfortable sofas and couches to hightop tables and bench seating. It’s definitely not too loud, allowing it to be a good location for getting some reading or studying done and they make great drinks to keep the caffeine flowing.

I just had another cup of hot chocolate from this place – same parameters as before. And I’m going to give them another star. The hot chocolate tasted better this time! And after going to Starbucks(my brother and I call it four bucks, jokingly) you can see that this place serves a better beverage. Also, the place has plenty of places to study comfortably. While the hot chocolate was still pricey, this place does have Starbucks beat, at least in hot chocolate.

Coffea is a legitimately good coffee house, the best in Lexington. The only thing they could do better is get a roasting oven and start roasting their own beans. The coffee is excellent, the staff are always friendly and knowledgable about the product. I’ve been coming here since they opened up and have had pretty much everything from maté lattes to plunger coffee and tea. The shop is clean, quiet and very attractive with big windows in one side and quiet areas with low light on the other, perfect for studying. Big booths for hanging out with friends and smaller tables for studying alone.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Lexington. I have a friend who used to work there, years back. I always enjoyed the coffee, especially the Tanzanian Peaberry. If I am ever in the area I try to stop by for a cup.

Great coffee, especially the mate latte! They have a board full of drink options. Not in the mood for tea or coffee? They have out of this world hot chocolate as well. They have a simple but delicious food menu as well. Can get crowed when UK is in session, very popular place for students to hang out and study.
