Been here a few times. The manager remembered us and a conversation we had had the last time we were in. The costomer service was very good every time and the food was really good and the price was really low.

I have eaten here on two occasions once with my wife and close friends and another with a close friend. The first time there was fantastic. The food was great tasting, one of the better tasting hamburgers not really a top five but definitely a top ten. My only complaint is that the burgers are too small. The available sides are also really great and overall the meals are filling and with the cost. With the second visit I went with a friend who has been there many times. He helped me move so I treated him to food so we went here and it was a bit of a disappointment, we went through the drive through and it appeared that they were training new associates the food was sub par and service was a bit slow, but I don’t think that should be held against them as both he and I agreed that service was generally great. Overall this is another great place to eat. My only other qualm is that the menu presentation is a bit confusing at first.

Heartburn at its best. Staying in the area and checking out the local restaurant’s for good food. This one did not rate to high with me. Onion rings out of a bag and my hamburger was ok and the hot dog I had the sauce was cooked to death. Okay for high school kids looking for a hang out, but not for me.

Being locals, we have visited here on four occasions. Twice with friends, twice without. We disagree wholeheartedly with the first(and only thus far) reviewer. This is slop food at best. Yes, at best! The staff at the register is not only uninterested in you as a customer, but rushes you through. Though cheap food, one would expect there would be SOMETHING on the menu that would be tasty and palatable. The last and only time we visited Lexington’s new Cookout, one of us ordered a flour tortilla of some kind.(BTW…the gal at the register didn’t know the difference between a flour tortilla and a corn tortilla). The tortilla was nothing more than a folded tortilla in half with a teaspoon of some concoction that was labeled as «chicken». THAT’S IT! When we pressed the Coke tab at the self-service soda station, half was water, half was Coke. The best of all is the ladies’ room is located barely off the dining room and tables, and there is NO privacy wall, either inside the ladies’ room, or out. What I’m saying is — is that you can see people sitting on the commode who have forgotten to latch their stall door — some do… particularly children and the elderly — while you’re dining at your table. Disgusting at all levels. If it were free, we wouldn’t go back.

Cook-Out aims to serve hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, pork bbq, hot dogs, fried sides and milkshakes at a bargain basement price. For the uninitiated, this means that a tray(example — hamburger, 2 sides and a drink) costs $ 4.99 and will be ready so fast you may honestly question if they hired Speedy Gonzales, Sonic the Hedgehog and the Flash to work in food prep. Oh, and their side options are not limited to hushpuppies, onion rings, fries, chili or slaw, but also include a corn dog, chicken wrap, bacon wrap, quesadilla or chicken nuggets. Yes, this place is a heart attack waiting to happen, but you have to be impressed with their economy and efficiency. The counters, bathrooms and booths are all new and clean, but even after the initial shine wears off, I expect this to be a thriving business attracting a variety of customers. The simple touch of having a exposed sink for customers to wash their hands after ordering is much appreciated. Plenty of seating, a drive-thru window, natural light, paraphernalia from local schools and friendly service also make this a winner. By all accounts, this newly opened location in Lexington seems to have most assuredly hit the mark as a successful fast food option in a college town. McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Waffle House, KFC, Sheetz, and local favorite Kenny’s have officially been put on notice. By staying open until 3 or 4 am, I expect that Cook-Out will immediately become the new late-night favorite for students.
