Where is the 3 ½ star option? It’s not quite a 4 star«you need to try this» kind of place. It’s also not a 3 star«eh» kind of place either. Ellos is a classic hole in the wall. They have 2 tables and 4 chairs, most of which I’m pretty sure were intended to be outdoor furniture. Don’t plan to dine in. The one employee was super helpful, 5 stars for service. I ordered their tacos, one of each style and a burrito. It’s authentic Mexican food. If you’re expecting Tex-mex you’ll be in for a(pleasant, in my opinion) surprise. The burrito is big. Think Chipotle minus the E.Coli. It’s nothing fancy, just rice, beans, cheese and your choice of meat. I asked for the hot salsa also. They’re not messing around by calling it hot, muy caliente! Don’t forget the Pepcid. But it’s good, maybe great. My mouth is on fire and I’m going to pay for this tomorrow, but I like it! I had a bite of one Latino steak taco. Not bad at all! It came with the mild salsa for dipping. It’s only mild in comparison; still warm, still very delicious. What’s keeping me from saying it’s not a «you need to try it» kind of place? It’s nothing special, just plain Mexican food. I haven’t found anything else similar in Lexington, but a lack of competition doesn’t make them any better. It’s still very much worth a try when you’re in the mood for a burrito and in the area. Just don’t cancel your steak house reservations and drive 30 minutes out of your way for it.

This is an interesting little establishment that is basically a house-converted restaurant. There was barely any tables and even less chairs, but it’s okay because you don’t have room to sit anyway. The food is descent. I purchased a wildcat burrito and was satisfied with the portion size. Seriously, the thing weighted like two pounds. I have to admit the burrito is a little dry, and could use more flavors. Overall, I wouldn’t mind grabbing a bite here every once in a while if I’m in the area, but probably won’t make a special trip for it.

Excellent tacos! Latino style are the best, don’t bother with the American style. You can always add sour cream, tomatoes and guacamole to the Latino tacos. The pork is my favorite. Definitely take it to go, the seating is mostly for people waiting for their orders or quick eaters.

So don’t get me wrong I used to love this place, best hole in the wall burrito place. I raved about it and told all of my friends to come here. Times have changed. My experiences the last few times have been excruciatingly painful. What happened to the service and quality here? They misquote times, never answer the phone, and the food has been sub par(crunchy rice, forgot my salsa that you charged me for, and what happened to the tamales??) One time I went and they couldn’t serve me, because they forgot to pay their electric bill? I’m so disappointed in what used to be my favorite burrito place. Don’t waste your time here, just go to Chipotle.

I’m currently writing an article about the best burrito in Lexington, and I’m pretty sure I found it at Ellos. I probably wouldn’t even call it a hole-in-the-wall; there’s just enough space for you to stand and wait for your food. The service was friendly and kind, so I didn’t even mind the cooking time. I got the steak burrito, and I am not exaggerating when I say it’s the best burrito I’ve ever had. Puerto Rican rice, refried black beans, shredded cheese and juicy, flavorful steak all wrapped in a tortilla grilled just long enough for the outside to be slightly brown and crispy. Seriously, so good. I will definitely be returning with friends and family in the future.

This is not even a hole in the wall. It is a crack inside of a hole inside of a hole in the wall. Don’t take any dates here, lol! There is really no place to sit but as long as you aren’t trying to impress anyone and don’t mind taking your food to go, this place has the yummiest food! I’d order more food than less because after eating my chicken torta I wanted to eat another one. Their rice has olives in it(not a fan of olives) but they are so few I don’t think I tasted a single one. Their salsas are really good too, super flavorful and complement the food nicely. If you have any left over salsa take it home and drizzle it on your eggs, yum! Just writing this review is making me want to go back already. Great place to pick up food and take it someplace for a picnic. Just get lots of napkins, it gets messy.

Good food at a good price. Wasn’t a lot of room to sit but the ladies who checked us out were nice and funny even though we came near close. Will be ordering Togo again!
