I checked in yesterday and noticed that this place hasn’t had a review in over a year. Well… I had to change that. This is kind of close to downtown, almost in a neighborhood, but yet off of a main road. You can get anything from beer to hard liquor. I’m a wine drinker and that’s where they lose a star from me. There isn’t a very big selection of wine and the wines that they do have are a bit over priced. Think kind of like grocery shopping at a gas station, the same is true here… it’s going to be more pricey and less options than the Liquor Barn. The stars of this show are the people who work here. They are all very nice and pleasant. I bet they experience more crazies here than a hair dresser who hears about people’s life stories daily. My husband, the craft beer drinker had actually had them order special, rare beers for him. I don’t know if that’s the norm or if they do it because he’s just that special. You already know that it takes a special kind to be married to me… for 18 years.

Nice friendly local Liquor store. Not a big chain but local, so I like it more. See about the same people each time. Happy to spend my money with them.

Not just your neighborhood liquor store. I have been shopping at Leestown for years. It is owned by a local, it has that small town appeal but their selection is phenominal. They always have great sales and I almost always find what I’m looking for. If I don’t, the manager has always offered to bring in whatever wine I might want if they don’t currently have it. When I buy more than I can carry, the staff always offers to bring my bags or boxes to my car for me. I feel very safe there as well as I am often traveling in as a lone woman. Very friendly, great prices, awesome selection. Now that Thoroughbred Shop is owned by Liquor Barn I am sure to give Leestown Liquor 100% of my business, Buy Local!

From the outside, this place looks like your typical sketch liquor store. Lots of garish neon, kinda run down building and parking lot, a million liquor posters in the window. I assumed they only stocked PBR and off brand vodka. Shame on me. But one day, I was throwing a dinner party and realized I didn’t have any dry sherry for the French onion soup I was making and threw on my coat to head to Liquor Barn. There was a big wreck or some back up on new circle and I realized my plans for the LB were screwed. Leestown Road Liquor is a stone’s throw from my house, so I thought what the heck. Not only did they have the sherry I needed, they actually stock several different kinds, which surprised me for such a tiny little joint. On another occasion, a batch of blackberry ice cream was saved by LRL stocking blackberry brandy. I mean, really? Wow. Amazingly, this little liquor shop has never let me down. They have all the usual suspects, of course, but also a lot of little surprises too. A few New Zealand wines, lots of esoteric vodka flavors, and usually whatever sort of miscellaneous cocktail paraphernalia(limes!) you may need. If you live in this neighborhood, the drive time for your liquor run may be getting a lot shorter.
