Quilter’s Square is a perfectly adequate quilt shop if you’re in need of basic quilting supplies. The staff is friendly and helpful. They tear the fabric, rather than cut it, so if you’re in the camp of quilters who believe that’s the only way to go, you’ll be happy. I tend to prefer cutting because of the distortion and raveling that tearing causes. Each to his own, I guess. The fabric selections and wall samples in this store seem a little dated, and I found little to inspire me. The shop always seems cluttered with boxes all over the floor when I’m there, and the cutting tables are cluttered as well. I gravitate toward quilt shops that make me feel at home, and this one is just your typical retail space. All in all, Quilter’s Square is a long time staple in Lexington for the quilting community, but not one I would go out of my way to visit if I were looking for a great experience.
