Not being from KY — I had to try the hot brown and boy was it good. More food than I could eat but good. Finished it with the combination brownie chocolate pie — oh my!

It has great gluten free options and they are super careful about cross contamination. I will be going back again!

My husband taught me about the good things of Kentucky and a hot brown from Ramsey’s was one of them. WFKIV

We try to eat at Ramsey’s every year when we come to town for the Rolex weekend. Good food at great prices! We usually order a hot brown for the table – supposedly the best in town! I like the vegetable plate that lets me choose 4 of many options, including fried green tomatoes, corn oysters and the best picked beets you’ll ever have. Save room for a piece of luscious pie. And then waddle home!

The catfish was amazing. I am not a fish person, but my husband insisted I try the catfish. It was excellent. The corn fritters or hushpuppies were great too. We also got a huge baked potato. The cream corn was great too. We finished off our meal with peanut butter & chocolate combo pies. Oh my, Yum!!! Great place to eat.

This place was great! Big portions and tasty food. The kids enjoyed their choices while my wife and I had dinner. We stopped here by chance on our way to Gatlinburg for Spring Break. The food and service was terrific.

Great food and service in a warm, casual atmosphere. All of the Ramsey’s locations are great, but I most often go to the Zandale location. Parking is sometimes a challenge at peak hours, but otherwise no complaints. Great food and drink!

Outstanding place to get filled up. You get enough food for two people for a fair price and it is delicious. First time eating here and it is now my favorite place in Lexington to eat. Friendly wait staff.

Awful, slow service. Also, don’t expect to get to watch the Super Bowl — Sleepless in Seattle is clearly a priority here.

The vegetables at Ramsey’s are so good I often opt for their four vegetable platter and call it a day. I LOVE their vegetables. Their fried green tomatoes are perfect. Their food is good. Their vegetables are what I come for, if you could’t tell! I’ve never had a BAD meal at Ramsey’s, but I’ve never had a main dish that was so good that I thought«I really want Ramsey’s fried chicken!» or catfish, or pulled pork. You get the picture. I’ve thought that about their green beans, and tomatoes, and corn… but not the main courses. Also worth noting… their pies are off the charts good. I’ve had several different flavors and never been disappointed.

I’ve been eating at various Ramsey’s locations for over 20 years, and this one is the newest in Lexington. Due to its age, it’s also the nicest inside. Whether you’re having the hamburger or veggie plate, or perhaps the meat loaf or fried chicken breast, all the food is exactly what you can expect at any Lexington Ramsey’s location — fresh, piping hot, and absolutely delicious. The hot brown is great too! Today, my wife and I decided to stop just short of eating everything on our plates, which meant we had room to enjoy the fantastic chocolate brownie pie with ice cream. We only have two complaints when it comes to this location. One, my wife ordered a club soda, and they brought her tonic water. Sure, they corrected it, but this mistake is one that happens far too often at Lexington restaurants. Also, unlike the service you might receive at the Harrodsburg Road or Man O War locations, the staff at this location sometimes takes an incredibly long time to bring drinks, take orders, check on refills, etc. One strategy we used today for the first time was to request seats near the bar. For whatever reason, the service was slightly better than a previous visit when we were seated on the patio. Whenever I want a good salad or some of the freshest, tastiest veggies in Lexington, I always go to Ramsey’s. They also have the only meat loaf in town that can rival my wife’s or my mother’s meat loaf.

I’m a big fan of Ramsey’s, and this location is easily my favorite. The food is home style southern food that will fill you up. Eat this type of food enough and it will fill you out; you might go up a pant size or two. But it’s great. I love the open face pot roast sandwich. The fried chicken is «like grandma used to make.» [My grandma is a terrible cook, so when people talk about how their grandmother cooked, I can’t relate. But this is good fried chicken, that I assure you.] I have been getting the catfish lately, every style is good but I prefer Cajun. My favorite part about this location is the To Go window. It really makes picking up food efficient. Why 4 stars? It’s good food. Maybe a few great dishes, but not over the top excellent. Same is true about the service. And the sweet tea has some room for improvement.

We met one of my husbands colleagues here for breakfast. I was disappointed with the limited breakfast selection and how greasy breakfast food was. Lee we informed this was traditional Kentucky cuisine and a favorite. I was really disappointed. I would be willing to give the other Ramsey’s diner on Harrodsburg road a chance.

This was my second time here. The first time was shortly after opening and I was slightly disappointed. I’ll admit, maybe I was just bitter over the downtown location closing. Now I’ve come to my senses, this location is really not that far from the old location and it’s Nicholasville Rd proximity is just as convenient. They’ll still bring you out a basket of crackers and butter if you ask. My daughter prefers ranch with her crackers. Whatever you desire with your crackers, they hit the spot. Ramsey’s has the best buffalo chicken salad around. And believe me when I say, I’m quite the connoisseur. The sauce is so thick and tasty, that you don’t even have to use dressing. Today I was ordered by the vegetable plate. They offer 4 vegetables sides for around $ 8. I was enticed by the soup of the day when it was mentioned, so I was happy when the waitress said that a mug sized portion of the soup of the day/white chicken chili can be counted as one of my 4 vegetables. The white chicken chili was out of the this world, unfortunately I don’t think it’s served on the regular menu. The tomato, onion and cucumbers were excellent too… I’m quite sure they use local tomatoes, they definitely weren’t the store bought kind. The crinkle fries and side salad were my third and forth options. Everything was very filling. So I can’t comment on the pies that everyone raves about, because I’ve not yet been able to save room either time. I must mention that the service today was impeccable. Even the manager was refilling our water before they reached bottom. I noticed him wiping tables, walking around helping all of the waitresses. So I asked him if he was the manager and he said he was. I complemented him on exceptional service and he explained that he doesn’t expect his staff to do anything that he wouldn’t. Ramseys is lucky to have him and every manager across America should take note from him.

A little bit of an awkward location but we found it. Good service, a nice environment of outside or inside seating. Good pricing for a ton of food. Food was good. Key word«good» for Everything; service, food, speed and environment. Nothing in particular stood out.

What a treat! I am from out of state and ventured to Ramsey’s to have dinner with a colleague. She described it as «real southern food». She was on point! I was there during happy hour and had no idea! Imagine my excitement when they brought me TWO watermelon cocktails! The service was great; everyone was knowledgeable about all menu items! The food was AMAZING! The fried cajun catfish was off the charts! and my favorite«side dish» was their fritters; I loved them so much I asked for 1 more! I am glad I saved room for dessert! I had their mayday pie and it was delicious! EVERYTHING was a hit! Including the check! I couldn’t believe the low price for ALL of the delicious food! I WILL definitely come back next time I am in Lexington!

Asked a friend for the best place in Lexington for a Big Brown and was directed here. First Big Brown, so unsure how it stacks up but really enjoyed Ramsey’s. Very pleasant and efficient service, quite reasonable price. Truly enjoyed the Big Brown, which was an open faced ham and turkey sandwich drenched in Mornay sauce and cheese with a couple of strips of bacon on top. Very rich but flavorful. Especially loved the crunchy bits of cheese on the sides. Also ordered fried green tomatoes, which were quite good. Nice breaking and the tomatoes were the appropriate ripeness. Overall, a fun meal.

There are many things I love about Ramseys. Summer offers«corn and ‘mater days» which is when they have fresh corn and tomato items on the menu. Personally, I recommend the creamed corn, fried corn with bacon, the deep fried corn with parmesan, and the fried green tomatoes(have you noticed a theme yet?). I also order pie first or as I call it «appetizer pie». They are Missy ’ s pies and they are crazy delicious. Butterscotch, peanut butter and brownie are some of my favories, but blueberry holds a special place in my heart. Now, there are some things I order here and some things I just don’t. The hot brown is tasty. The fried chicken(boneless) is tasty. The meatloaf is ok, but there is better in town. I’m not a fan of the chicken and dumplings or the yogurt chicken or the mustard carrots. Most dinners come with these corn bread sticks that I usually toss aside. I find them to be dry and gritty, but I and generally not a fan of cornbread so this is no exception. The other thing I find to be weird is the gravy. I’m not a fan. Long story short, go here for comfort food that is not going to be very healthy. It’s worth getting the pie.

The food is really delicious and they use fresh vegetables. The portions are huge so you definitely won’t leave here hungry. The atmosphere is nice, the restaurant is clean and I’ve never had a bad waiter at this location. I had the Hot Brown. It’s smothered in cheese and has tomato & bacon on it. Definitely a unique dish to try if you’ve never had it.
