Shillito Park Apartments

A pretty good apartment complex.
They are very pet friendly. Only downside to this is a lot of dog owners don’t scoop the poop like they should, so the grounds may have doggy droppings on them a lot.
The complex is also pretty good abount maintenance, and in almost two years there we’ve never had any major issues. Yeah, some minor ones, but they were quick to fix those.
The views from the balconies are very nice, and we have a great view of Shillito park, when combined with the fireplace, it makes for some very nice atmosphere.
Being right next to Shillito Park is a big plus, since that means right out your door is a 2.5 mile walking/​jogging track, baseball diamonds, playgrounds, picnic shelters, disc golf course, and acres of open parkland. It’s not part of the complex itself, but it is right next door and easy to walk from right out your door. Beyond that, it’s got easy accessibility to all around the south side of Lexington, but manages to be tucked away neatly from most traffic.
The gym is decent. If you’re a hardcore gym bunny you’ll be disappointed, but if you just want to lift some weights and spend a little time on a treadmill or exercise bike a few times a week it should do you just fine. Some of the exercise machines have broken down and not been repaired in a long time.
As an extra bonus, the swimming pool is a saltwater pool, so you don’t have to deal with chlorinated water.
A small downside is that parking is pretty bad, as they do NOT enforce the parking permit requirement and tow cars that aren’t supposed to be there. This means some tenants have a lot of friends over a lot, and one apartment can have a half-​dozen cars in the parking lot for a long time. On rare occasion I’ve even had to park out on the street outside the complex because every single parking space in the complex was full.. .and upon closer inspection many of the cars have no permit.
Another downside is that the walls are quite thin, and we can often hear the music lyrics of songs being played in the next apartment, and sometimes even hear casual conversations through the walls.

After going over a list of around 20 apartments, this place came out on top. We need an apartment to have washer and dryer hookups. The propity is RIGHT next to a 136 acre park. also the mall is right around the bend. Dog frindly and along with one of the lowest monthly pet fee. I read other reviews on different web side and comments said poor thing about the management, HOWEVER all those reviews are from years ago. I believe there is new management now. For the price it dont get anybetter!
