Simpson Optical

I thought they were great, until now. This is the first time we’ve used Simpson Optical and i wish I hadn’t. They read my glasses wrong the first time, had to send them back, then the next pair didn’t pass inspection, so they were sent back AGAIN. It’s been a month and I still don’t have my new glasses. So frustrating. I was okay paying the price for glasses, if they were correct. Now I am not even sure why we went there. So frustrated!

I went here for an exam for contacts and glasses. After the initial exam but before the doctor exams my dilated eyes I picked out 2 pairs of glasses to purchase. During the final exam the doctor told me that he was waiving the fee for the contact fitting. I’ve had contact fittings at other optometrist and it cost an extra fee. It’s basically where the doctor tells you how to put in your contacts and let’s you try other contacts out. I was happy that Simpson Optical was waiving the fee for my fitting. However, the following monday (my exam was on Saturday), I called to cancel one of the two pairs of glasses I ordered because I had ordered them impulsively. They were able to cancel the order no problem. 3 hours later I got a call and they left a message saying that I was being charged for the contact lens fitting. The excuse for why I owed it now and not at the time of the exam was that my insurance company had rejected the charge. After 2 phone calls and a trip into the office I was told that the doctor didn’t remember telling me the fee was being wavied and that maybe I had heard wrong. Im not perfect and that is entirely possible but not probable because I distinctly remember that i was impressed at the time that I wasn’t being charged for the fitting that I know other optometrists charge for. My suspicion is that they waive the fee if you spend enough on glasses or contacts during your visit. I cancelled part if my order so i was retroactively charged the fee. That’s my hunch. The fee isn’t that much money, $ 40 or so. It’s odd they are willing to lose business over it. I wasn’t looking for anything for free but if you are going to make a promise, you should deliver. I recommend going to one of the larger chains to get glasses, they won’t treat you any better but their selection of glasses is much better.

I have been to both Simpson Optical locations for my annual eye check-​up and I have always been impressed with their customer service and expertise. This last visit I chose to go to this location because my office is closer to it. I was evaluated by Dr. Zent and I was amazed at how detailed and informative he was. Everyone had been very informative but he took it to a whole new level. This visit I also ordered glasses for the first time and that process went very smoothly.

I had never experienced a full eye exam but they made the process really easy and quick. They helped me select glasses (from a wide selection, including lots of designers). I’m glad I went here on a co-worker’s recommendation and would recommend it to others as well.

Unlike the other review, I had a really good experience with this location. Staff was friendly and saw me and my daughter right on time. The dr was really good with my 5yr old. We were both in for a checkup. The dr did inform me of something with my vision that I have that no other dr has ever told
me before so he was very thorough. Neither if us had to have prescriptions so I cannot attest to the sizing/​fitting of glasses.

On the plus side, the staff is friendly and the glasses options are excellent. They actually had the same pair I had gotten previously from a different optician, which delighted me to no end.
I had to wait a few days for my glasses to be made, which was fine, but when I got them they didn’t want to adjust them at all. After a week they started rubbing my ear, so I went back for an adjustment. And they still don’t fit right.
Then I started noticing a frequency in ocular migraines and headaches. I’m currently back for a fourth visit for a prescription check. Trust me, I am not going back here again.
