Planet Sub

Asked for a vegetarian wrap… and in spite of the sign saying that they could make ANY sandwich into a wrap, the woman had to go back and ask the cook if he could do it.
It took ten minutes to get my food. A couple who had waited fifteen minutes for their carry out were still waiting when I left. They were there before me.
My wrap? It wasn’t what I ordered.
There wasn’t any rush at the time I placed my order. It was well past lunchtime.

I really like this place and can’t figure out why it doesn’t have a better following. I guess it’s just a shorter wait for me! Everything is fresh and the kids running the place are always pleasant. If you are trying to limit calories and want a great sandwich I highly recommend the romaine wraps –very low calorie and really yummy. There are a few meatless options too, which is always nice. The Greek Salad is filling and flavorful without too many calories.

Not sure how this place stays in business. Every time I go here I’m the only one there. They tables are always dirty, not sure how they got dirty because I never see any other customers. They are always out of something. The food, when made right is pretty good but seems to take a while to make.

The last few times I have been here the service has been horrible. They’ve made my sandwich wrong several times, the tables are always dirty, the time to get your sandwich is WAY too long, etc. Last night, they forgot my sandwich when they first brought out our order. Then it took 45 minutes to get my sandwich after they made it wrong the first time.
I love the Planet Sub location downtown and have had good luck with the location in Zona Rosa. I will not be back to this Liberty location.

This location has declined. I went in today for a sandwich before the rush started and had a long wait – on a tuna sandwich. The tuna is supposedly pre made so not sure what took so long. They were out of napkins and looked like they ran to a local grocery for a package. They tore the plastic open and left it sitting on the counter. They also did not have any type of iced tea made. Usually there are two to choose from. There was no option at the beverage station for plain water. When I finally got the sandwich, the tuna was dry. It appeared to have been placed straight on the bread from the can. It wasn’t tuna salad. It was supposed to be served with mayo but none was on the sandwich. The tables were dirty and had not been wiped down in each seating section. While I was there, no one wiped down the tables.

We always looked forward to eating at Planet Sub when we come to town. We have always had great service and quality sandwiches until today. We stopped on our way through Liberty and placed our order to go. There was a large group in front of us so the 20 minute wait was understandable, but the quality of sandwich we got was not worth our time stopping. The bread was so thin on the bottom that I couldn’t even pick up the sandwich. A fork was the only way to eat this sandwich. It ended up in the garbage and we stopped at McDonalds. Very disappointing.

Not only are the employees nice, they are glad to take your order and make you one hell of a sandwich (or whatever you may be ordering!) I come here every week and will continue to. Love this place! If you like all kinds of meat with mayo and mustard (although it’s all optional) I’d definitely recommend the planet sub, but if you’re on the Italian side you can’t go wrong with the delicious super hero.

I have always gotten great sandwiches and services, I got my regular Temphe BBQ, which is ALWAYS great; but this time when I got home I had no onions and no tomatoes and no cheese? Don’t get me wrong the temphe and bbq was fantastic, but I need to check before I leave.

This was only the second time I have had planet sub. The first time wasn’t really memorable, not even sure what I had, turkey… something. Today was much different!
I went in because of the 12 days of planet sub promotion. Half subs were only 299. I had the beefeater, and I’m pretty sure it was the best sub I’ve ever eaten. It was so good that I went to another planet sub location later on in the day for dinner and had another beef eater and also tried the chicken club which was also fantastic. This will be a new regular stop for me for lunch in Liberty.

I USED to go to this sandwich shop, because it was close to my office. They had a loyalty card program, where you get a punch every time you come, and your 10^th sandwich is free. So I stuck with it, the subs were just ok, so what the heck.
My co-​workers prefer Jimmy Johns, but I was already earning free subs here, I can’t switch now! — I had a few cards saved up (because I always forget to use the full ones). Then recently the guy told me they stopped that program and my free subs are no good. Are you flipping serious?!#$% How about stop giving out the cards, don’t just stop accepting the full ones!
It’s as if they said: «Yes, we know you’ve bought at least 30 sandwiches from us in the past, and you are a regular, loyal customer. But we will not honor our word, and are satisfied with losing your business forever.»
Maybe that is the business model… make a restaurant, get a loyal customer, promise him a free sub… then BAM pull the rug out from under him and profit $ 15! Wooohooo!
Anyway, now I go to Jimmy Johns. I advise you do the same.

Love this place! I’m usually a picky eater so first time I had just a regular turkey sub. Second time the boyfriend and I stopped to have lunch before grocery shopping at HyVee. I decided to be a little more adventurous and got the Green Turkey half sandwich, it tasted very fresh and was filling despite only being the half sandwich. My boyfriend got to cheesesteak and I had a couple bites, very good! Service was great! Third time we went I was just getting a to go order for my brother, but service was great again.
The wait can be a little long but so worth it, everyone is so friendly and the food is super yummy! I will be back!

Planet Sub is one of my favorite sandwich shops, so I may be biased. They have good prices, good quality, and large enough sandwich. This one doesn’t seem to have the mural on the wall like the others I have been too. But the food is still good. The service here was also top notch.

Ok this place is awesome. From walking in smelling fresh bread that was just made to the cool way they call out your order when your sandwich is done which is a playing card which I think is cleaver and different from everybody else. I have tried most of these sandwiches and most of them are great but some are ok. I love that they toast all of there sandwiches. My favorite sandwich is there torpedo sandwich with a whole pickle. There is a sandwich here for anybody, meat, sea food eaters to veggie sandwiches. The only downside of the place is the price, I mean I know what all goes into making the sandwich but if they came down just a dollar on there footlong and fifty cents on there six inch I would go there at least once a week. But over all I would recommend this place who loves toasted sandwiches.

I enjoy planet sub. They have a great selection of interesting subs and promotions.
However, this one isn’t run very well. The service is slow. The call in line is usually busy, but when you show up it isn’t being used for taking orders. Lastly it’s just not as clean as others. It needs a manager on site to keep the staff on task.

So, I really like Planet Sub. When I lived in midtown KC I used to eat at that location all the time. I was excited when Liberty finally opened a shop here, however… I gotta say that the grungy, hippie, KCAI kids make a slightly better sammie. Regardless, the Liberty location is still wonderful and you’ll definitely leave satisfied. Lots of choices, reasonably priced, never a long wait. Good stuff!

Planet Sub was pretty good and I randomly stopped by to eat lunch. I’ve never seen a Planet Sub before and apparently they are only in a few states (according to their website). I came in like at 1:30pm and it was pretty empty. I didn’t know what to order so I chose one that sounded good to me which was the Planet BBQ signature sub. The Planet BBQ had ham, turkey, roast beef, and KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce in it which sounded pretty good to me. I ordered a large one ($ 7.99) and a small soda ($ 1.59). They gave me a playing card and that’s how they call your order when it was ready. I found it to be interesting and cool at the same time.
My sub came out and it was wrapped in aluminum foil. I think it was about a foot long or a little longer than that. I took a bite and it was delicious! I had to stop myself from starting on the second half so that I could take pictures of the inside of it. lol
They had a lot of other subs on their menu and it ranged from seafood to what I ordered. This was definitely a Quiznos/​Subway alternative though I think it’s more of a Quiznos alternative since the price range was up there.
There were weekly specials too during the week which can be seen on their napkin holders.
