I am willing to pay good money for good meat, and I am certain that what they sell is excellent. The real black mark and the reason for the mediocre rating is that they do not accept credit cards — cash or checks only. And the ATM in the store adds a $ 2.50 fee, so if I don’t have enough cash on me for a purchase (I rarely carry much cash), that plus my bank’s fees mean that I just tacked $ 4 – 5 onto the cost of my purchase. I am mystified why someone would think that not taking plastic is a good idea. We made a $ 35 purchase today, and would have spent more except that was all the cash we had on us. So because the store does not wish to lose 2−3% in transaction fees, we walked away spending much less than we would have otherwise. I am certain we can’t be the only ones. I hope that in the future they reconsider this policy, but until they do, we will not be returning.
