Ramada Ligonier is an okay bed to lay your head if you have reason to be in this lovely Burg in Westmoreland County. It sits close by The Diamond in the center of town, making it a good place if walking around is something you enjoy. Truthfully, there are surprisingly few lodging accommodation in this wholesome, yet mildly touristy hamlet. Our king room was large and comfortable, if somewhat dated. Plumbing was renovated, but the bathroom was the old divided layout with outer sink and tiny inner toilet/shower with no exhaust fan. Adequate hot water and pressure. Booked through Priceline, but charges still higher than the value received. Standard poor breakfast choices with high calorie, low nutrition buffet. Ligonier deserves better.

Hotel staff was very nice. We found hotel amenities and fixtures very antiquated. Décor is old and very dark. Not many outlets in rooms. Bathrooms are old and stain. Pull out sofa bed is in need of new mattress. We had to request a microwave to be brought in. The pool was nice and it’s outdoors and heated. So, if you want luxury or amenities this may not be the spot, however it serves well for a place to lay your head and quick stop.

I had reason to stay here for two weeks recently(family business), so we definitely experienced the few good points and the many bad. Cost was OK — got a $ 95/night deal as I was staying fairly long. So the bad and the good: — No insulation between rooms and door gaps at the bottom make this a noisy place. Add screaming kids running up and down the halls(Idlewild amusement park is nearby) after 9pm and you get the idea. Next door we had a grandma at one point during our stay, so the little darlings were hollering after 9pm for her to open the door: GRANDMA! GRANDMA! GRANDMA! — A separate entry here for slamming doors: Why can’t they adjust their doors or change out the springs or something, anything?!! You’re trying to sleep and you hear BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, every five seconds as someone goes in and out, maybe to get ice, and whoops they need more ice, and whoops they forgot something in the car… BOOM, BOOM, BOOM! So ear plugs are sometimes the only way to get any sleep here. You hear the BOOMs all over the hotel, too — it’s not like this is a problem with just one door! — Ridiculously variable water temperature as you try to take a shower. You have to find a setting in the middle of a very wide ranging temperature experience, from super cold to super hot, basically every five seconds. Back and forth, up and down temperature… constantly changing as you take a shower at any time of day. — Whoever installed the safety bar in the shower was an idiot. Shower safety bars are great/good — we have them at home, but you don’t install them vertically right next to where you stand in the shower, so you crash your elbow on the top of the thing when you’re just trying to wash up or rinse off! Owww!!!(He said, several times…) — A/C-heater unit under the window with hard to turn dials was a pain to adjust because of both the dials and the unit itself. Old and cheap junk. — Good was the people are definitely nice. I wish they had a better place. — Good was the maids took care of us. They did a decent job. I wish they had a better place. We even left them a nice tip. — Good was the beds/bedding. Comfortable and clean. I kept going back and forth between one and two stars on this review as I wrote it and thought about the place. Probably should be 1.5. Gave it two because of the good points. In another situation I would have stayed in one of the bed and breakfasts in town, but this trip that wouldn’t have worked because of the job I had to do(grungy and long hours!).

If you’re thinking that this hotel will be okay because it’s part of the Ramada chain, think again. The ONLY reason I did not cancel my reservations and change hotels is because I was part of a wedding block. The NASTIEST room I’ve ever stayed in, without a doubt. It looked like a gorilla had taken a shower in the bathroom before we arrived. Our room smelled, and also smelled of some horrible air-spray cover-up which made my husband and me sick. The worst part was trying to take a shower. The faucet was broken & my husband had to LITERALLY stand outside the shower and hold up on the shower lever so I could have enough water pressure to get my hair wet. Awful. Just awful. Stay anywhere else, even if you have to drive farther. The staff was nice & they can’t help the way the owners have let the place go down. It’s so sad, because it’s a great location. With new owners & some renovations, this could be a great place. By reading the other reviews, it seems the hotel was okay until a couple of years ago.

Worst hotel ever. Booked a room with 1 bed and was given a room with two Veda. Called to address the situation and was told that no one could take care of it until the morning. Calle central reservations and was given the run around. Do not stay here! No one wants to accept responsibility for their actions or mess ups !

A decent enough place to stay. I spent a night here while we were driving down to Fallingwater & Kentuck Knob about 35 mins south of Ligonier. The room was clean & comfy, but lacked a refrigerator which is usually a standard amenity in other hotels that charge as much for a single room. My room looked like it’d been refurbished, which is a plus. Wireless internet worked but was somewhat slow. I’d recommend that the staff keep better tabs on the noise levels at night: there were a bunch of younger folks, probably 20-somes, who were making a lot of noise after about 11pm the night I stayed there. Fortunately, the ruckus didn’t last very long, maybe someone else complained!

Since it’s one of the only hotels in Ligonier, I guess it thinks it can get away with being pretty lame for a high price. We paid $ 125 for a room with a queen bed, no fridge, and inconsistent air conditioner. For over $ 125, I expect the room to be spotless, and have a decently sized bathroom and counter space. I had to keep most of my toiletries on the floor, the sheets were scratchy, and the worst part? Taking a shower was a 10-minute torture session of alternating bursts of hot and cold water. I stayed as part of a wedding block, and all of the people in the block experienced the same issues, including the water issue. When I ask for extra towels, I expect extra towels. Never got them. There was not nearly enough parking, and on our second night, we had to parallel park on the street two blocks away. We received the wrong receipt at check out, and had to return to get the issue corrected. Check out is at 11am(early), and check in was at 4pm(late) and both caused issues for us getting into the room upon arrival, the day before a wedding, and checking out of the room, the day after a wedding. The«gym» had only a few incredibly old and treacherous-looking pieces of equipment. Exercise at your own risk. The«hot» breakfast ran out of hot food by 8:30 a.m., and the carb-heavy options I was able to get my hands on were processed, packaged, crap. Even the orange juice was gross. Clearly they are not making enough money to pay for wi-fi, because you have to watch an ad every time you try to connect. Put your iPad to sleep for three minutes? You get to watch another ad before returning to your email. If you really want to be near Ligonier, I would try one of the hotels in Latrobe, about a 10 – 15 minute drive from Ligonier. It’s a bigger town with your standard chain establishments, and the slightly more competitive nature might yield better service and quality.

Let’s start with the bad stuff. This place needs a major renovation that includes HVAC. Things get stanky, and they seem to stay that way. The restrooms off the lobby, the stairwells, the guest rooms… somehow there’s not enough air turnover to keep things from feeling close, dank, and a bit ripe. Of course, it was July. The rooms are dated, with furniture, wallpaper, fixtures, and flooring that are at or past the end of their service life. I ran out of hot water while I was taking a shower, and as I tried to regulate it, it kept going from hot to cold to hot. My sister’s room had an AC malfunction. Another relative’s room had to be evacuated for a water leak. Another family member with a room on the ground floor said there were ants in her room. The exercise room is sad and lame. The breakfast area is cramped and awkward, and doesn’t flow, leading to lots of people standing around trying to get past each other. And the Wi-Fi was bad. Now on to the positives — the staff seemed very polite, helpful, knowledgeable, and laid back. There was a little table with mid-sized lego blocks that kept little kids busy and happy in the lobby. The pool was delightful, with excellent water quality and very little ‘chloriney’ or chemical odor. The hotel is nestled right into the very cute little town of Ligonier, just a few minutes walk from the center of town, where there are many restaurants and shops and historic sites. The beds, linens, and pillows(beyond a doubt the most important part of a hotel room) were comfortable, clean, and seemed to be MUCH newer than the rest of the furniture. The place does seem to be kept clean(ants notwithstanding), and has a certain charm that comes from being an older, non-cookie-cutter property. And the food we ordered for dinner in the restaurant was really good. The owners of this place have a gem of a location and a building and a staff — if they can just hatch a plan to upgrade the building systems, and renovate rooms a wing at a time, they will be in good shape for another 25 years of hospitality.

There aren’t a lot of choices in this town as far as hotels go. It’s this place or the creepy place down the street. Regardless, I was impressed by the cleanliness, hospitality of employees and most of all the breakfast! The hotel is very close to everything in the town, making it quite convenient. I hope to return!

The only reason I stay here is because of it’s location. I spend alot of time in Ligoneir and this property is the only hotel that is located in the business district. I dont like B an Bs so place has to do. The place is clean and ok but in need of a major renevation and updating of every room and it’s restaurant. The place looks like it has not been touched since 1985. Expensive for what you get.

It’s great to have a chain hotel to stay at in a small historic town. We stayed here off priceline for $ 60. After rain ended our ski chances early, we were able to check in even though it was noon. The Ramada is right in the middle of the ligonier historic area, so there is tons of window shopping and walking tourism throughout the area. Most important is the very good condition of the rooms in the hotel. Definitely is staffed by friendly people that care about the property. I would recommend this for anyone going to the area. BTW, it takes around 30 – 40 minutes to drive to seven springs. in case you wanted to stay here during ski season.
