I have recently changed veterinarians based on how I was treated by KHAH.
1. During the dog flu outbreak this summer (which, arguably, everyone needed to be extra cautious), they called only 1 day before my scheduled appointment and, upon finding out I had leash walked my dogs so they could go potty, told me they had to be quarantined for a week. I understood their point of view 100%, but the receptionist was super rude about it, even ruder when I voiced my distress at the last-​minute change to my schedule, and it was the day before — if you are enforcing a 1 week quarantine, maybe you should call people 1 week in advance of their appointments?
2.My dog fell off the bed and needed to be seen asap due to the injury sustained. I called and they got him an appointment with the relief vet, whom I had never seen before. I wasn’t thrilled, but little man was in pain and couldn’t wait. I get in the room, the vet tech tells me he is going to weigh my dog, then 5 minutes later, he’s still not back. Already being stressed out because my baby was in a super amount of pain and having heard him cry from the back several times, I poke my head out and ask the receptionist where he is and what’s happening. Turns out, the doctor I have never met, who has never before examined my dog, was doing an exam without me present and without even speaking to me first. NO. So I got upset — crying a little, not angry or anything, just general anxiety and worry — and asked the receptionist that they discontinue any exam until they talk to me. They bring Henry back to me and I think the doctor must have been insulted that I didn’t just let her examine him without interacting with me first, because all I said to her was «I’ve never met you, you’ve never seen my dog before, that’s why I’m upset,» and she acted super offended, like how dare I not patently trust her to examine him without me. At any rate, she gave me pain meds for him and instructions to confine him so he could heal. On the way out, I thanked the doctor and apologized to the receptionist for freaking out. She said «it’s okay, I know you feel about your babies,» and I paid and left.
The next day, I wrote the doctor a note and sent her a gift card as a thanks, even thanking her for «taking such good care of my dog (and dealing with his crazy momma).» Mailed it and thought that was that.
I then received a 2-​PAGE letter from Dr. Hopper, scolding me for how I handled the situation and informing me that she was told I was abusive to her staff. I missed the part where being upset that my dog is hurt and wanting a doctor to at least explain her plan before examining my dog is abusive. Mind you, I have been a client of theirs for 8 years, my family for closer to 15. I was shocked, quite frankly, that she couldn’t pick up the phone and ask me what happened and, god forbid, ask how my dog, her patient of 7 years, was doing. I understand that client management is an important part of running a business, and that protecting your staff is important, but in both of these cases, it was their failure to communicate that began the entire situation, and in the second case, if you aren’t prepared for people to be upset about their sick or injured pets, I think you might be in the wrong business.
It was extremely upsetting to experience, and it was even more difficult to realize that I now had to make the choice between allowing myself to be scolded like a child for my natural reaction to a stressful situation and remaining a client of someone I have trusted my pets to for the better part of a decade. It was sad for me that this went down how it did.
I still maintain everything I have said previously about the practice, and believe that they are excellent at caring for companion animals, but they are no longer a good fit for me and my animals based on these experiences.

the veterinarian was just great. she took great care of my 16 year old cat. I couldn’t be happier with the care. the receptionist, however, was extremely rude. I have just moved to the Atlanta area and was in search of a new vet for my small family of pets. unfortunately, i’ll have to keep looking after this experience. when I explained I had to work until 5:00 and then could pick up my cat, I was told that they close at 6:00 in such a way that im sure the only concern was that the receptionist get to leave at exactly 6:00. I told her I was certain it wouldn’t be that late before I arrived, but that didn’t help her attitude at all. if you choose to use this company, be sure to go dressed professionally. it was my day off so I was dressed casually and apparently the receptionist took that to mean it was ok to speak to me as if I were an idiot.

Growing up in Rural NC, tradition would have it, I’ve had a dog or three my entire life! I’ve lived in an metro ATL since 1988, and Killian Hill Animal hospital has provided some of the best care for my animals.
Dr.Brady, Dr. Hopper and Dr. Robertson are talented veterinarians, each with their own special talents that compliment each other so well to make for a skilled well-​balanced team to give your pet great care. They fully explain diagnosis, care plans, prognosis. They completely and compassionately work with their clients when faced with treatment decisions for the best outcomes.
It’s apparent all the staff members love their jobs and their clients too. It’s a rare find in the a metro area like Atlanta.

We’ve been taking our critters to Killian Hill since we moved to Gwinnett in 2004, and it’s a decision we’ve never had reason to regret.
Dr. Brady and Dr. Hopper have a great combination of compassion, good humor, cost-​consiousness and technical competence.
They are happy to take the time to talk about what’s happening and how best to treat the issue, including recommending low-​cost options that won’t enrich them but just might help a loved pet live a longer better life.
We don’t hesitate in the least in recommending their services.

If you’ve read a number of my reviews, you’ve learned that if there’s one thing I believe… It’s that you can never really drive too far to get the best service available.
This is why I drive from Stockbridge to Lilburn to take my two dogs and cat to the vet.
Dr. Hopper is the best vet I’ve found… And I’ve never lived a day without animals my entire life. She has a great personality, and is always willing to help you and your animals.
Sometimes, multi-​pet discounts are available.
The reception staff and vet techs at Killian Hill are also a great group of people! Ruth (one of the receptionists) is always super friendly and willing to work with you for what you need (appointment wise).
For me, living so far away, they mail out medications (heartworm, flea, etc.) so I don’t have to drive all the way up there to pick them up.
They’re very good about appointment times, so you rarely have to wait — unless there was some kind of emergency.
If you love your pets as much as I love mine – (they’re our second children) — then you’ll make the drive to find the best vet in the area!
