I feel kinda bad about this one. First off, Lilburn Café is not in the most convenient location, with access in and out of the small strip mall very difficult off Lawrenceville Highway. But once I parked and walked in, I was impressed with the atmosphere and décor. There was no one else there, but I didn’t think much about it since it was early afternoon. I ordered a mocha latte and the lady behind the counter told me she didn’t know how to make it. I was a outwardly puzzled and chuckled. She then proceeded to tell me she had just bought the place and was still learning the ropes. Okay cool, no problem. I changed my order to an iced latte and she went to work. We talked for a bit and she said the café has changed ownership many times over the past few years and, as her new project, she really wanted to make a go of it. Then she gave me my drink and, umm… it wasn’t very good. I didn’t say anything because she was so enthusiastic, kind and sweet. I just couldn’t hurt her feelings, even if it wasn’t accurate feedback. However, I’m really hoping she continues to improve her skills and indeed makes this new venture a success. It certainly has potential.
