We stopped here while on a college visit to UNOH. It was a Friday evening and the parking lot was packed by 5:30pm, which I thought was a plus busy=good food? also maybe a wait for a table. We were greeted with a smile and seated right away. This place is quite large and with a huge menu! I have had time deciding when there is a large menu and my thoughts are what do they make well or their specialties? Since we were traveling we didnt order pizza, but I would return to try their’s. I ordered a house salad with their house homemade Italian dressing, I enjoyed the salad, cucumber, iceberg lettuce, croutons, onion, mozzarella was a $ 1.00 extra which I felt was a bit much, maybe $.50 would suffice, though I really liked the dressing. I ordered the meatball sub, the bread to meat ratio was more bread than meatballs. The meatballs were homemade, appeared to be hand rolled and the sauce was flavorful, I could taste green pepper in the sauce. The cheese wasnt melted over the meatballs, stuck to the opposite side of the bun. Drinks were cold and staff was attentive. We were in and out on a Friday rather quickly. We will be back to try some other things on the menu next time we are in town.

Location on Market street is terrible. Wife and I both got sick after eating a salad. Called manager and he didn’t care. Will never go back

Myself and one of my adult sons were in town to spend Thanksgiving week with my mom. The afternoon we arrived, our flight was two hours late, so there really was not a lot of time to deal with cooking dinner. We all decided to order a pizza from Beer Barrel as that is where Mom usually orders. Oh– my– gosh! It took me back to my days of growing up in Lima, until graduating from LCC in 80. Real pizza. Trust me. I have lived in Asia, Europe and several U.S. states, so I am pretty well-rounded in the food department. I have not had a REAL pizza since then until last Monday. But, the actual fun was introducing my son to it. He was enthralled! Beer Barrel is one of his new«must visits» when coming to Lima. Perfect crust, ample toppings and a great amount of cheese. Keep it up, Beer Barrel, next time, we eat in!!!

Very happy with our meal. Good selection of beers. Most of craft in bottle. Had the fried perch. Reputable. Servers were very friendly and attentive.

I have eaten a pizza here before and remember it was good but on this trip I am already pizza’d out so I tried their specialty which is a lightly fried yellow perch entrée that came with a salad, mixed vegetables and a cheesy potato casserole as another side. First the salad came out and it was nice sized and I enjoyed it. For a complimentary salad it was good. Immediately after that came out the entrée so the presentation was poorly timed. I had to eat the salad fast so that the fish wouldn’t get cold. The perch were very good. A strong 4. The veggies were kind of cold and lacked flavor and I gave them a 2. The potato casserole kept its temp and was very cheesy. I thought it was ok and gave it a 3. My overall score for this meal is a 3 because of the veggies in particular. Like I said the fish were good. My table service was warm and friendly.

The service has continued to get worse over the last year or so. The servers knowledge of the beer on tap is pretty weak as well. Especially since they usually only have about 3 beers that cycle. Other than that you can still get some really good grub at a reasonable price. Sometimes I’m not sure if they have it together in the kitchen. On many cases I’ve had to send the server back because something was missing on my plate that was listed in the menu. I feel like beer barrel went from being the best place to grab a beer and grub in town. To maybe just outside the top 5 places in town.

In town for a few days and we ate here every night. Good food and an excellent beer selection for the region. Staff was helpful and cordial. Probably the best casual dining in Lima with a diverse menu and enough«gourmet» options to please picky pallets. Call ahead on the weekends and try the Great Lakes yellow perch.

Went to old fave when home visiting fam. This old fave hasn’t let me down in 30 years. Like a fine wine, ha ha,… The BB came thru again… Great Lazagna! Atmosphere somewhat changed. A little louder when you haven’t put down a twelve of Mich Lite. Haha. Any rate rate. Fun to visit… Good food and good spirits! !

We were in town from California and our friends took us here. Very friendly atmosphere — a lot of post– game little leaguers and families running around. The pizza was plentiful and the beers were large and cold. No complaints.

We’ve been eating here for years & were NEVER disappointed. Went for lunch today & ordered«wings» for the very 1st time. Have always been partial to BW3FOREVER, but discovered Beer Barrel wings(medium) are OUTSTANDING in taste & the amount of meat on the bone!!! Their wings compare & surpass anything we’ve eaten on the East or West Coast.

The Place: Beer Barrel’s a decent sized place. There are lots of tables, of both the regular and high-top variety, squeezed into the space, making for a bit of a cramped atmosphere. The floor is brick, and it’s a bit uneven. Anyone with a hard time walking may have difficulty with it. The bar is a good sized u-shaped counter. There are plenty of TVs around the space to watch, including 2 projection screen TVs behind the bar. The brick floors and wood and metal walls, peppered with neon signs and sports memoriablia, add up to a pretty standard sports bar/restaurant atmosphere. The dining room, bar and bathrooms are all clean. No complaints. I should add that there are 4 – 5 arcade games towards the far back right corner to keep the kids entertained The Food: In a word: awesome. I was born and raised in Lima, and this is the place I go to eat when I’m back in town visiting family. All the food/ingredients are of a high quality, and the meals are put together well. I’ve tried all kinds of stuff here over the years, from the pasta and meatballs to the shephard’s pie to the pizza to the wings — all have been fantastic. The pizza especially is wonderful. The sauce and crust are flavorful, the cheese is plentiful, and the toppings are fresh and delicious. Top notch. — The menu includes 16 appetizers, 12 salads, 5 soups, chicken wings available in 9 sauces, 9 toasted subs, 12 sandwiches, 10 sides, 7 types of pasta, 5 fish offerings, 9 entrees, and all sorts of pizza, including traditional, thin and crispy and deep dish crusts. There are 30 toppings available for the pizza. In short: the menu is huge, and it’s all good food. The Drinks: 20 beers on tap, full bar, wine list. I’m sold. The Service: Always solid. I’ve never been dissapointed with the service, but I suppose I’ve never been blown away either. No real complaints though. The Price: Reasonable. $ 6 for a sub and chips, $ 10 for pasta, between $ 7 – 10 for most entrees, and pizza ranging from $ 6.75 for a 10″ to $ 27.50 for a sheet. Overall: The prices are reasonable, the service is solid, the beer selection is great, the food is outstanding, and the place is clean and comfortable. Five stars!

Nice place. Bigger than you would think from the outside. Bartender knew her stuff and gave us some recommendations. Can’t go wrong with the chicken chunks. All white meat meat breast of chicken«Lightly» breaded. The lightly part was key. Often times you bight into something like that and its all breading and air. Not with these chunks. Good meaty chicken covered in the sauce of your choice. We were advised to try spicy garlic. Glad we did. Beer was good and cold. Coming from Chicago I’ve had good pizza. This was pretty damn good. Sauce was good and sweat but not overpowering. Good friendly spot in Ohio.

If I could ordain one man King of Lima, it would be John Heaphy. Heaphy owns my favorite fast-food joint in town, Happy Daz, and also owns Beer Barrel Pizza. He was behind the counter today when I stopped in for pre-football grubbing. Although Fat Jack’s and Rigali’s pizzas are very good, nothing in Lima compares to a Beer Barrel pie. The crust is toasty but not too crisp, the sauce is splashed on with an artful assymetry, the toppings are top notch, and the cheese is generous. Pies start at $ 6 for a 10-incher, and toppings cost $ 2 each. My friends and I tried the EBA(Everything But Anchovies), a throwback term to when Beer Barrel only had pepperoni, green peppers, sausage, mushrooms, onions and anchovies. We subbed out banana peppers for the green peppers. It was dynamite. Nowadays, Beer Barrel has many more toppings, including pinapple, goat cheese, ham, crushed pepper, jalepenos, spinach and saurkraut. We also ordered up 20 wings for $ 13. Beer Barrel has eight different wing sauces. I ordered hot(which wasn’t very hot, next time I’ll have to order extra hot) and BBQ(which was so-so). The wings were very meaty, but the sauce fell short of Buffalo Wild Wings’ flavors. Heaphy is a hilarious and kind businessman, and I love knowing my dollars are going to support his local empire. While watching a beer commercial about«DRINKABILITY» today, he remarked to the rest of the bar, «I like that. My food’s got EATABILITY.» Choice.
