Maras Gourmet

The best-​kept little secret in the Lima area. Nobody seems to know about this place. It is spreading now via word-​of-​mouth. What a great atmosphere; small and cozy, like eating in John and Jesse’s own dining room. The servers will help you pick just the right entrée. Jesse (chef) is making amazing food. He comes out and speaks with the customers to see what they like and makes every meal by hand, just for you. John is out front making sure everything is running smooth and your meal is pared with a great bottle of wine, at discount prices (not restaurant markup). Mara’s Gourmet has a very limited menu, but EVERY selection is cooked to perfection with bold flavors and great attention to detail. While it may seem slightly expensive at first glance, the bill for your party of 4 will be the same as any generic, chain-​style restaurant in the area. The food is hands-​down better at Mara’s.

Two nights in a row and not disappointed, a couple appetizers and a bottle of wine. Service was attentive, Chef Jesse asked about our likes or dislikes, very pleased.

Dinner for 4! Delicious appetizers — margherita flatbread and umami /​outstanding! Sea Bass and lamb chops super delicious. Jesse is an amazing chef. A little more attention to detail — better quality flat wear, offer water and replace flat wear between courses. Definitely will be back. Keep up the good work.

This restaurant is awesome! Excellent quality food and perfect atmosphere! I have been eating here once a week for about the last month and would recommend the restaurant to anyone! The staff is friendly and the service is great! There is not a meal I have eaten there that has not been out of sight! Definitely great fare for little old Lima.

Great healthy food and wine. quaint intimate atmosphere. The best quesadilla I have ever had… bar none!
