The BEST Deli section of any store in the area and no argument. Wide variety of fresh, homemade foods, salads, sandwiches and entrees. Amazing, really for such a small city. The bakery is just as good… wide selection of good stuff. Stores are clean, well-stocked, and I’ve always received super-friendly service from the staff. An overall pleasant shopping experience and it’s great Lima still has a local supermarket — they’re becoming rare.

Say you just moved to Lima, Ohio, from another state and wanted to reward yourself by relaxing with a homecooked meal and a nice glass of wine. Too bad. Rays doesn’t accept out-of-state driver licenses as valid forms of ID for alcohol purchases. That restriction is a shame, because they had a lovely selection of regional wines I was eager to try. Also, probably because it was a Sunday, the store was out of non-refrigerated bagels and didn’t carry Senseo coffee pods. Also, no Rolling Stone magazine and no eight-packs of eggs. The liquor selection is a bit lacking, too. And the prices were on par with supermarkets in Chicago. Boo for you, Rays. Two stars for being open around the clock.
